Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
In the first social encyclical letter of Pope Benedict XVI, CARITAS IN VERITATE, he focuses not on the harmful structural aspects of globalization of the social economy, but addresses that the cure for this devastation of human life and to the environment is to be found - “In the present social and cultural context, where there is a widespread tendency to relativize truth, practising charity in truth helps people to understand that adhering to the values of Christianity is not merely useful but essential for building a good society and for true integral human development.”
What he details as to how Truth contains the light of reason and faith and that “Truth frees charity from the constraints of an emotionalism that deprives it of relational and social content, and of a fideism that deprives it of human and universal breathing-space” and how “Truth, by enabling men and women to let go of their subjective opinions and impressions, allows them to move beyond cultural and historical limitations and to come together in the assessment of the value and substance of things” - his descriptions - parallels both the successful completion and lack-thereof of a crucial psychological developmental period of a child’s emotional maturation that take place between 5-9 years of age. The successful completion of this developmental period of a child’s life is essential for maturational developments in adolescence that leads to adult maturity, which Benedict XVI refers to as the Truth in Charity. The fixation at this period - he describes as a person - who is given to emotionalism, sentimentally, fideism, filled with arbitrary ways and refuses to dialogue with others. This description describes the fierce emotional negative reaction of the majority of the members of the curia and hierarchy to the Synod session of 2014 midterm report - “welcoming gay people,” valuing gay loving committed relationships. It was followed by their equally fierce refusal to even dialogue or to consider the decades of the scientific data regarding gay sexual orientation.
Not only did they ignore Benedict XVI’s encyclical letter CARITAS IN VERITATE, but also John Paul II’s FIDES ET RATIO and his address given in 1979 regarding Galileo and of literal interpretation of the sacred books. John Paul II also - stressed the importance of not separating reason and faith because it diminishes “the capacity of men and women to know themselves, the world and God in an appropriate way.” And again in 1988 John Paul II stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue and common searching should grow in depth and scope warning that “In the process we must overcome every regressive tendency to a unilateral reductionism, to fear, and to self-imposed isolation.” This is exactly what they did for the past 30 years, in their intense reaction against any consideration or open discussion concerning gay people. They continued the same throughout the Synod session of 2015, which included same covert though ruthless tactics forcefully preventing any further open discussion on the topic of being supportive of gay people. They publicly demonstrated both their collective immaturity and their violent tactics, as documented in the Vatileaks of 2012, by blatantly attacking Pope Francis by way of character assassination accusing him of attempting to fix the outcome the Synod in favor of gay people and leaking the rumors the he had a brain tumor. I have experienced and continue to experience the same ruthless tactics - like so many others before me, including without any grounds attempting to remove name from the priesthood. What happened at the session of the Synod 2015, was brutally obsessive in preventing the open dialogue about the lives of gay people from taking place was without Truth and therefore it was without of God's Love.

Without Truth there is no Love - Benedict XVI - Welcoming gay people - Synod 2014 & 2015???
BENEDICT XVI - 2009
3. Through this close link with truth, charity can be recognized as an authentic expression of humanity and as an element of fundamental importance in human relations, including those of a public nature. Only in truth does charity shine forth, only in truth can charity be authentically lived. Truth is the light that gives meaning and value to charity. That light is both the light of reason and the light of faith, through which the intellect attains to the natural and supernatural truth of charity: it grasps its meaning as gift, acceptance, and communion. Without truth, charity degenerates into sentimentality. Love becomes an empty shell, to be filled in an arbitrary way. In a culture without truth, this is the fatal risk facing love. It falls prey to contingent subjective emotions and opinions, the word “love” is abused and distorted, to the point where it comes to mean the opposite. Truth frees charity from the constraints of an emotionalism that deprives it of relational and social content, and of a fideism that deprives it of human and universal breathing-space. In the truth, charity reflects the personal yet public dimension of faith in the God of the Bible, who is both Agápe and Lógos: Charity and Truth, Love and Word.
4. Because it is filled with truth, charity can be understood in the abundance of its values, it can be shared and communicated. Truth, in fact, is lógos which creates diá-logos, and hence communication and communion. Truth, by enabling men and women to let go of their subjective opinions and impressions, allows them to move beyond cultural and historical limitations and to come together in the assessment of the value and substance of things. Truth opens and unites our minds in the lógos of love: this is the Christian proclamation and testimony of charity. In the present social and cultural context, where there is a widespread tendency to relativize truth, practising charity in truth helps people to understand that adhering to the values of Christianity is not merely useful but essential for building a good society and for true integral human development. A Christianity of charity without truth would be more or less interchangeable with a pool of good sentiments, helpful for social cohesion, but of little relevance. In other words, there would no longer be any real place for God in the world. Without truth, charity is confined to a narrow field devoid of relations. It is excluded from the plans and processes of promoting human development of universal range, in dialogue between knowledge and praxis…
Reason always stands in need of being purified by faith: this also holds true for political reason, which must not consider itself omnipotent. For its part, religion always needs to be purified by reason in order to show its authentically human face. Any breach in this dialogue comes only at an enormous price to human development…

FIDES ET RATIO
JOHN PAUL II
JOHN PAUL II
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN
FAITH AND REASON
14 September 1998
Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth—in a word, to know himself—so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves (cf. Ex 33:18; Ps 27:8-9; 63:2-3; Jn 14:8; 1 Jn 3:2).
…Philosophy and the sciences function within the order of natural reason; while faith, enlightened and guided by the Spirit, recognizes in the message of salvation the “fullness of grace and truth” (cf. Jn 1:14) which God has willed to reveal in history and definitively through his Son, Jesus Christ (cf. 1 Jn 5:9; Jn 5:31-32)…
…Therefore, reason and faith cannot be separated without diminishing the capacity of men and women to know themselves, the world and God in an appropriate way…
…On a number of occasions, the Second Vatican Council stressed the positive value of scientific research for a deeper knowledge of the mystery of the human being…
…“[Galileo] declared explicitly that the two truths, of faith and of science, can never contradict each other, 'Sacred Scripture and the natural world proceeding equally from the divine Word, the first as dictated by the Holy Spirit, the second as a very faithful executor of the commands of God', as he wrote in his letter to Father Benedetto Castelli on 21 December 1613. The Second Vatican Council says the same thing, even adopting similar language in its teaching: 'Methodical research, in all realms of knowledge, if it respects... moral norms, will never be genuinely opposed to faith: the reality of the world and of faith have their origin in the same God' ( Gaudium et Spes, 36). Galileo sensed in his scientific research the presence of the Creator who, stirring in the depths of his spirit, stimulated him, anticipating and assisting his intuitions”: John Paul II, Address to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences (10 November 1979): Insegnamenti, II, 2 (1979), 1111-1112.

Letter to Father George V. Coyne, Director of the Vatican Observatory (June 1, 1988) | John Paul II
…By encouraging openness between the Church and the scientific communities, we are not envisioning a disciplinary unity between theology and science like that which exists within a given scientific field or within theology proper. As dialogue and common searching continue, there will be grow towards mutual understanding and a gradual uncovering of common concerns which will provide the basis for further research and discussion. Exactly what form that will take must be left to the future. What is important, as we have already stressed, is that the dialogue should continue and grow in depth and scope. In the process we must overcome every regressive tendency to a unilateral reductionism, to fear, and to self-imposed isolation. What is critically important is that each discipline should continue to enrich, nourish and challenge the other to be more fully what it can be and to contribute to our vision of who we are and who we are becoming…
Science can purify religion from error and superstition; religion can purify science from idolatry and false absolutes. Each can draw the other into a wider world, a world in which both can flourish.
For the truth of the matter is that the Church and the scientific community will inevitably interact; their options do not include isolation.

Pope Francis has a long to-do list, and it starts with the Curia
By David Gibson And Alessandro Speciale| Religion News Service March 14, 2013
VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis comes into office riding a wave of good will but facing a host of challenges both inside and outside the Catholic Church. Whether he can tackle them, however, may depend on his ability to tame the Roman Curia, the dysfunctional papal bureaucracy that was uppermost in the minds of the cardinals when they elected him on Wednesday (March 13)…
In an interview last year, Bergoglio also railed against the preening and clericalism of many in the hierarchy — peacocks, he called them, displaying a “self-absorbed vanity” that is “the worst sin that could be committed in the church.”
7 top issues Pope Francis has staked out for his papacy
David Gibson - September 21, 2015 3. Overhauling the hierarchy
In an institution that defines itself as hierarchical, change has to start at the top. Almost from the moment he was elected, Francis has not only sought to model a humbler sort of pastor, but he has repeatedly blasted hierarchical “careerism” as “a form of cancer” and derided bishops who strut about in church finery as “peacocks.” He has called on bishops to be pastors who are close to the flock — who have “the smell of the sheep” — and not to be “airport bishops” who buzz around the world padding their resumes and developing the “psychology of princes.”
Pope Francis’ plan for reform: Convert the church
March 10, 2014
Hierarchical “careerism” is “a form of cancer,” Francis has said, comparing bishops who strut about in church finery to “peacocks.” Instead, he wants pastors who act as shepherds and who “smell of the sheep.” He does not want “airport bishops” who buzz around the world padding their resumes and preaching a doctrinaire gospel while living the good life. “Little monsters,” he calls such clerics.

Synod 2014 - welcoming gay people
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4, 2015
Excerpts from:
Part 2 - “Cold-blooded Murderers” - Ghosts in the - Synod of Bishops on Family - October 2014 - Repress Unacknowledged Need for Empathy
The Vatican’s midterm report from the Synod of Bishops on Family on October 14, 2014, was an extraordinary and unprecedented expression of human empathy and validation that there are gay children growing up.
This was a uniquely courageous stance to come out of the Vatican. As much human empathy that it brings to the lives of gay children - its healing presence shines back onto those who, few that they may be, risked their lives to welcome these children. The glow is forever penetrating - changing lives for the better around the world, most especially in reforming the Vatican.
Welcoming homosexual persons - October 13, 2014
Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community...
...homosexual unions it has to be noted that there are cases in which mutual aid to the point of sacrifice constitutes a precious support in the life of the partners. Furthermore, the Church pays special attention to the children who live with couples of the same sex, emphasizing that the needs and rights of the little ones must always be given priority...
…whoever causes one of these
little ones
who believe in Me to stumble,
it would be better for him
to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck,
and to be drowned in the
depth of the sea.
Matthew 18:6
Ending Violence - to 90% of the Human Population
of the World & For Generations to Come
This statement is the first globally visual act of expressing human empathy understanding and the need to support the pastoral care to parents raising a gay child. It is the Vatican’s overall affirmation of the humanity and the existence of gay children, including by extension all gay people. In regards to the sexual continuum - the homosexual sexual orientation varies in degree over about 90% of the world’s population.
Sexual Orientation exists along a continuum that ranges from exclusive homosexuality to exclusive heterosexuality and includes various forms of bisexuality. Bisexual persons can experience sexual, emotional and affectional attraction to both their own sex and the opposite sex. Persons with a homosexual orientation are sometimes referred to as gay (both men and women) or as lesbian (women only).
American Psychological Association (2005) Photo
The Vatican’s statement from the Synod on Family 2014 “welcoming homosexual persons” is a beginning to end the self-perpetuating cycle of violence in the world. However, at the same time - it is the promulgation of the Vatican’s unsubstantiated antigay teachings that are a direct cause that is fueling the self-perpetuating cycle of violence.
Major changes to help humanity never happen in a herd - it seems they always begin with numbers as few as one, to just a few. However, it happened that someone in the Synod 2014 stood up - welcoming gay children into the midst of Church, including whoever supported this effort welcomed Christ back into the Vatican - making it holy ground, once again. It is a real sign that all those who have been and still are spiritually and intellectually involved with Pope Francis in the major reform of the Vatican - are making serious headway. It is a forward movement not based on dictatorial or authoritarian rule - is phenomenal - a slice of heaven. And though Christ was being swept out by Cardinal Burke attempting to maintain the deadly authoritarian rule, along with his supporters,- the fact is that this presence of Christ is unforgettable - encouraging the fact - that it is likely to be repeated again.

Kids Are Being Hurt!!!
However, Burke’s hostile outbursts against this midterm report Synod 2014 supporting gay children was aimed at attacking Pope Francis’s reputation, his leadership claiming - “the church is like a ship without a rudder (http://www.religionnews.com/2014/10/31/cardinal-catholic-church-pope-francis-ship-without-rudder/)” - it cast a light as far backwards highlighting this same familiar hostility that I experienced directed against me in June 1997, when I came out for the very same reason for the protection of gay children growing up.
And for the past nearly 18 years, I suffered the severity of such hostile attacks that not even Pope Francis was able to escape from Burke - for supporting gay children (http://fathermartykurylowicz.blogspot.com/2014/11/fr-marty-kurylowiczs-appeal-letter-sent.html ---- & ---- http://fathermartykurylowicz.blogspot.com/2013/04/gay-catholic-priest-fr-marty-kurylowicz.html).

1997 - Protecting Gay Children - Fr. Kurylowicz
In March 1997, I came out for the (1) protection of gay children growing up from the (2) lifetime harmful effects caused by antigay social and religious norms based on science and since (3) suffered the consequences of severe covert life-threatening retaliation tactics from Vatican’s curia.
2014 Synod - Supporting Gay Children - Pope Francis
Curia & Hierarchy - Publicly Proving
Lifetime Harmful Effects - Antigay Norms
Gay Children
These harsh retaliation tactics in 1997 and in 2014 are identical that are coming from within the Curia. They are the proof of the lifetime harmful effects that is caused by antigay social and religious norms to gay children - being played out in adulthood by members of the curia and the hierarchy - who are instigating these harsh retaliation tactics - against anyone protecting or supporting gay children.
Victims of Roman Curia
“Cold-blooded Murderers”
Attacking those Protecting Gay Children 1997 - 2014
In March 1997, based on the science on homosexuality - I came out for the protection of the lives of gay children and though it was successful and maybe because I was successful at a parish level - I have suffered the hostile retaliation by members of the curia of the Vatican and outside accomplices - for the past soon to be 18 years. It is as Pope Francis described it in his December 22, 2014 address to the curia - I became - a victim of the curia’s cold blooded murders. It is not about me personally - it is the message of science of homosexuality related to gay children growing up that I made public. (It is important to note here that - the science regarding any harmful disruption during the early childhood developmental years of a child's sexual orientation whether homosexual or heterosexual - will caused severe lifetime harm effects.)

Psychoanalytic Therapy and the Gay Man
Jack Drescher, M.D. in his book Psychoanalytic Therapy & The Gay Man describes the complexities related to growing up gay; from his research of developmental narratives of gay adults retrospectively recalling their feelings being gay began in early childhood. These gay feelings had remained constant, and were resistant to being altered. Dr. Drescher explains the contrast of how social norms impact the psychology of the early childhood developmental years of aheterosexual boy and a homosexual boy.

Narcissistic Rage - Need for Revenge
By Whatever Means
It was the science I dared to make public in 1997 and I was unaware that it ignited the narcissistic rage of someone in the curia to covertly - viciously begin to attack me. The midterm report from the Synod 2014 - came out supporting gay children and surprisingly it ignited the same hostile narcissistic rage only this time - it overtly began attacking Pope Francis. This “narcissistic rage is related to narcissists' need for total control of their environment, including "the need for revenge, for righting a wrong, for undoing a hurt by whatever means". (Heinz Kohut’s self psychology model, of narcissistic psychopathology -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissistic_rage_and_narcissistic_injury).

June 28, 1997 - Kurylowicz Comes Out
“...U.S. Catholic Bishops Conference states Kurylowicz” coming out to his congregation, first in a newsletter then from the pulpit on Holy Thursday, is “unprecedented.”
(check The Grand Rapids Press for accuracy)
The Synod 2014 midterm report - “protecting gay children” had evoked such overt contempt and negative reactions by some of the hierarchy and in particular by Cardinal Burke - even to attack Pope Francis, the leader of the Catholic Church. If they can attack Pope Francis for “protecting gay children” - what chances does a gay Catholic parish priest, like me, who came out in 1997 for the “protection of gay children” have to withstand consequences of the severity of covert life-threatening retaliation tactics consistent for the past 18 years. For me - presently, after 18 years of these deadly tactics by the Curia, it has now reach the point that I am in need of immediate assistance crucial to my life from the Vatican. I do not and will not accept charity or assistance from anyone that would defeat the purpose that - this is a Roman Curia’s hostile and - cold-blooded murder. Again, it is important to remember that - I am only one of many, many, many over the past 30 years.
The sickness of “chatter, grumbling and gossip: this is a serious illness that begins simply, often just in the form of having a chat, and takes people over, turning them into sowers of discord, like Satan, and in many cases cold-blooded murderers of the reputations of their colleagues and brethren. It is the sickness of the cowardly who, not having the courage to speak directly to the people involved, instead speak behind their backs”.

Roman Catholic Hierarchy - Past 30 years
Do Not Protect Children!
Child Sexual Abuse Cover-ups & Gay Children Growing Up
This midterm report expressing sincere concern for gay children - is phenomenal. It is interesting that the importance of protecting children never seems to concern the hierarchy whether to protect children from being sexually abused or gay children growing up being abused by the lifetime harmful effects of antigay social and religious norms. Why? What might the reasons be?
The transparency that followed in the wake of Pope Francis, especially after the Synod of Bishops on Family 2014 - revealed far more than people like Cardinal Burke intended. It brings more clarity to better answer the question, Why children have been left unprotected by the Hierarchy for the past 30 years?
Homogeneous group - Repressed Homosexuals
Roman Curia - & - Hierarchy
For the past 32 years, Benedict XVI exuded a great deal of influence in choosing members for the curia and hierarchy based on their strict obedience to doctrine including homosexuality. Resulting in, Benedict XVI, creating over the past 3 decades, likely the largest solid homogeneous group, a select population based on the unsubstantiated antigay teachings having the highest probability of containing the largest number of homophobic sexual repressed homosexuals than anywhere else in the world...
Fr Marty Kurylowicz’s - Appeal Letter Sent to Pope Francis - “Coming Out” March 1997 - Gay Catholic Priest - For Protection of Children - January 16, 2014
Roman Curia - & - Hierarchy
Unprotected
Gay Children - & - High School Seminarians
Considering how the members of the Roman Curia and Hierarchy were selected for the past 30 years - the simple answer why they left children unprotected is because when these men were children no one heard their cries for help. Therefore, as adults they are unable to here the cries of children who are suffering in the same way as they did as children.
The Roman Curia and Hierarchy - as gay children growing up (1) no one heard their cries for protection from the lifetime harmful effects caused by antigay social and religious norms. This also includes - no one hearing (2) their cries for help as very young adolescents, while boarding at high school seminaries - where known sexual abuse of the students, by adult faculty members was going on and no one did anything to stop it. And though a student may never been assaulted sexually, but was aware of the sexual abuse was going on and no one stopped it - would be a severe form of the abuse of neglect.
Now, as adult celibate men, well over the age of 60 years old, they are perpetuating the same kind of violence that they had experienced as children and as young teenage seminarians - when no one care enough to protect them. And due to the group's tremendous lack of academic diversity only having knowledge limited to canon law or liturgy makes the possibly of any new academic perspectives to help broaden their understanding would likely be perceived more as a threat than an aid. This is disastrous for these men to hold positions in the Church that perpetuates such life-threatening harm to children worldwide. They, though not on the part of all, demonstrated their alarming inaptitude to continue holding the positions in the Church that they do, by the remarks they made against the Synod 2014 midterm report supporting gay children growing up. It is criminally negligent. However, those who were supportive of protecting gay children in the Synod 2014 was most reassuring.
Ghost In The Nursery
Selma Fraiberg 1975
...These words strike a familiar note, There are many parents who have themselves lived tormented childhoods who do not inflict their pain upon their children. These are the parents who say explicitly. or in effect. "I remember what it was like....I remember how afraid I was when my father exploded I remember how I cried when they took me and my sister away to live in that home....I would never let my child go through what I went through."
For these parents, the pain and suffering have not undergone total repression. In remembering, they are saved from the blind repetition of that morbid past. Through remembering they identify with an injured child (the childhood self), while the parent who does not remember may find himself in an unconscious alliance and identification with the fearsome figures of that past. In this way. the parental past is inflicted upon the child.
The key to our ghost story appears to lie in the fate of affects in childhood. Our hypothesis is that access to childhood pain becomes a powerful deterrent while repression and isolation of painful affect provide the psychological requirements for identification with the betrayers and aggressors. The unsolved mystery is why under conditions of extremity, in early childhood, some children who later become parents keep pain alive; they do not make the fateful alliance with the aggressor which defends the child's ego against intolerable danger and obliterates the conscious experience of anxiety. We hope to explore these problems in further study...

Alice Miller
In For Your Own Good (1980), she introduced the concept of "poisonous pedagogy" to describe the child-rearing practices that were so prevalent in Europe, especially before the second world war. She believed that the pain inflicted on children – "for their own good" – was unconsciously the parent re-enacting the trauma that had been inflicted on them when they were children. Thus the cycle of trauma continued down the generations.
She analysed the childhoods of several famous figures in order to prove her point, the best known being Adolf Hitler. In her view, all Hitler's atrocities could be explained by the brutal persecution and abuse he experienced as a child. It is here that Miller was at her most powerful. She brought the reality of child abuse to the foreground in a way that many found compelling. She described how children protect their parents in order to salvage some hope of having their needs fulfilled and in the process have to repress their true needs.
Long-term suffering could be avoided only, in her opinion, if the child had an adult in his or her life who could acknowledge the reality of their experience. She called these adults "empathic witnesses" and this acknowledgment, she said, not interpretation, should be the role of psychotherapists with their clients...

Hidden cruelty in child-rearing and the roots of violence (1980)
By Alice Miller
...In the earliest stage of life, it is possible for a child to forget about the extreme acts of cruelty he or she has endured and to idealize their perpetrator. But the nature of the subsequent enactment reveals that the whole history of early persecution was stored up somewhere; the drama now unfolds in front of the spectators with an amazing resemblance to the original situation but under another guise: in the reenactment, the child who was once persecuted now becomes the persecutor...

March 1997 - & - October 2014 - Hierarchy
Proof Lifetime Harm
In March 1997, I came out for the protection of gay children from the lifetime harmful effects caused by antigay social and religious norms. The Synod of Bishops 2014 reiterated the same need for the protection of gay children growing up, however, they did not include the part about the lifetime harmful effects caused to gay children by antigay social and religious norms, as I did in March 1997.
But the strong opposition expressed against the midterm report of even the idea of welcoming of gay children, especially led by Burke, was living proof of how the lifetime harmful effects are played out in adulthood, among the majority of the members of the hierarchy.

Homosexuality: coming out of the confusion
Sidney H Phillips - Int J Psychoanal 84:1431-50. 2003
In this paper, Dr. Phillips describes the complications of how the historical context of social norms can significantly influence the classification of the components of homosexuality by clinicians causing them to be blind to their own biases. Mindful of our susceptibility to this kind of phenomenon, Dr. Phillips calls to task these biases that pathologize homosexuality simply because it is not consistent with heterosexuality and therefore to be classified as a mental disorder. He offers an alternative description of homosexuality from his clinical research that is consistent with other researchers of early childhood psychological development of children who grow up to be gay.

No Explanation or Reason
Emotional Outburst
What is key here is that there is no story or explanation - to match the intense emotional reaction regarding topic of gay children. Such intense reactions without a clear explanation why - tends to point to something happening in early childhood that has been repressed. As opposed to an event that happens in adulthood - like someone refusing to ride in the front seat of a car, because that person was in a severe car accident and got thrown through the windshield ( Henry Krystal - PDF http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCIQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ibrarian.net%2Fnavon%2Fpaper%2FChapter_8__Psychoanalytic_Approaches_to_Trauma__A.pdf%3Fpaperid%3D16436404&ei=GF21VNXKA9SqyASwnoDYBA&usg=AFQjCNHw0P8nuU0GEYdZs0ItaQKDfe2GLA&bvm=bv.83339334,d.aWw).
Chapter 8: Psychoanalytic Approaches to Trauma: A Forty-Year Retrospective
Henry Krystal
…The failure to recognize one’s affects as part of one’s own information processing apparatus, tends to cause an individual to feel ruled by those emotions. Such people tend to build up their emotions to a very high intensity based on early experiences of using them to control the parental objects. Retaining such strategies in adult life may lead to a person behaving in an “out of control” fashion. Affect maturation and the development of affect tolerance during the latency period represents the most important single factor towards making possible the maturational developments in adolescence. Such achievements require the capacity to grieve effectively, making possible the renunciation of the infantile experience of the parents, and of oneself. A parallel process is the integration of the various self- representations derived from the several psychosexual developmental stages –which takes place in adolescence potentially achieving a consciously recognized wholeness of the self...

FOR THE COMMEMORATION OF THE BIRTH
OF ALBERT EINSTEIN
November 10, 1979
Cardinals, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen.
1. Thank you very much, Mr. President, the fervent and warm words addressed to me at the beginning of the speech. And I rejoice also with Your Excellency, as with Mr. Dirac and Mr. Weisskopf, both illustrious members of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, for this solemn commemoration of the birth of Albert Einstein
The Apostolic See also wishes to pay to Albert Einstein the tribute due to the eminent contribution he made to the progress of science, that is, to the knowledge of the truth present in the mystery of the universe.
I feel in full solidarity with my predecessor Pius XI, and those who succeeded him in Peter's See, in calling upon members of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, and with them to all the scientists, that "make progress more and more nobly and intensely sciences, without asking anything else of them; because in this excellent intention and in this noble work is the mission of serving truth, with which we charge them ... "(Pius XI, in multis solaciis, October 28, 1936: AAS 28 [1936] 424).
2. The search for truth is the task of basic science. The researcher who moves on this first aspect of sciences feels all the fascination of the words of St. Augustine: "Intellectum valde ama" (St Augustine, Ep. 120, 3,13: PL 33.459), he loves the intelligence and the function that is proper to know the truth. Pure science is a good, worthy of being loved, for it is knowledge and therefore perfection of man in his intelligence: it must be honored for itself, even before its technical applications, as an integral part of the culture. The basic science is a universal good, that every people must be able to cultivate in full freedom from any form of international slavery or intellectual colonialism.
Basic research must be free with regard to political and economic powers, which must cooperate in its development, without hampering it in its creativity or harnessing it to their own purposes. The scientific truth, in fact, is, like any other truth, only to itself and to the supreme Truth, God, creator of man and of all things.
3. On its second versant, science turns to practical applications, which find their full development in various technologies. Science in the phase of its concrete achievements is necessary to mankind to meet the just requirements of life and to overcome the different ills that threaten it.
There is no doubt that applied science has brought and will bring immense services to man, provided it is inspired by love, by wisdom, "accompanied by the courage that defends it against the undue interference of all tyrannical powers. Applied science must be united with conscience, so that in the trinomial science-technology-conscience, both served the cause of the true good of man.
4. Unfortunately, as I said in my Encyclical Redemptor hominis, "the man of today seems ever to be under threat from what he produces ... This seems to make the main act of the contemporary drama of human existence" (John Paul II, Redemptor hominis, 15).
Man must emerge victorious from this drama which threatens to degenerate into tragedy, and must find again his true kingship over the world and his full dominion over things it produces. Now, as I wrote in the Encyclical itself "the essential sense of royalty, of man's dominion over the visible world, the task assigned to him by the Creator himself, consists in the priority of ethics over technology, in the primacy of the person over things, in the superiority of spirit over matter "(ibid, 16).
This threefold superiority is maintained as it retains the sense of man's transcendence over the world and of God for man. The Church, by exercising its mission of guardian and protector of both of transcendence, considers she is helping science to keep its ideal purity on the side of basic research and to carry out its service of man on the side of its applications practices.
5. The Church, on the other hand, I willingly acknowledge that you have enjoyed benefits from science, which, among other things, needs to be on what the Council says about some aspects of modern culture: "Even the religious life is under the influence of new situations ... a more acute critical sense purifies it from every magical conception of the world and the survivals superstitious and always demands more a more personal commitment and active faith; so many are those who come to a more acute sense of God "(Gaudium et Spes, 7).
The religion and science cooperation to the advantage of both, without violating in any way the respective autonomies. Just as religion demands religious freedom, so science legitimately claim the freedom of research. The Second Vatican Council, after reaffirming, with the Vatican Council, the rightful freedom of the arts and of human disciplines in the field of their own principles and their own method, solemnly recognizes "the legitimate autonomy of culture and especially of the sciences" (Gaudium et Spes, 59). On the occasion of this solemn commemoration of Einstein, I wish to reconfirm the statements council on the autonomy of science in its search function the truth inscribed in creation by the finger of God. Full of admiration for the genius of the great scientist, in which he reveals the 'imprint of the creator Spirit, the Church, without interfering in any way, and with a judgment that is not for it, the doctrine concerning the great systems of the universe, though the offers to the reflection of theologians to discover the harmony existing between the scientific truth and revealed truth.
6. Mr. President! She has rightly said in his speech that Galileo and Einstein characterized an era. The greatness of Galileo is known to all, as that of Einstein; but unlike these, whom we honor today in front of the College of Cardinals in the Apostolic Palace, the former had to suffer - we can not hide it - by men and organisms of the Church. The Second Vatican Council has recognized and deplored certain unwarranted interventions: "We can not but deplore - it is written in number. 36 of the conciliar Constitution Gaudium et Spes - certain attitudes that not unknown among Christians, which do not have sufficiently recognized the legitimate autonomy of science, and that occasioned conflict and controversy and have misled many minds to the point of believing that faith and science are mutually opposed. " The reference to Galileo is clearly expressed by the note added, citing the book "Life and Works of Galileo Galilei," Monsignor Paschini, published by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences.
To go beyond this stand taken by the Council, I hope that theologians, scholars and historians, animated by a spirit of sincere cooperation, deepen the examination of the Galileo case and, in frank recognition of wrongs from whatever side they come, will dispel the mistrust that still opposes, in many minds, a fruitful concord between science and faith, between the Church and the world. In this task you will be able to honor the truth of faith and of science, and open the door to future collaborations, I give all my support.
7. May I be permitted, gentlemen, to your attention and your reflection some points that seem to me important to set again in its true light the Galileo affair, in which the agreements between religion and science are more numerous and above all the most important, the misunderstandings that led to the bitter and painful conflict that continued in the following centuries.
One who is rightly called the founder of modern physics, declared explicitly that the two truths, of faith and of science, can never contradict "proceeding equally from the divine Word sacred Scripture and nature, first as dictated by the Spirit Santo, as a very faithful executor of God's orders "as he wrote in his letter to Father Benedetto Castelli December 21, 1613 (Edition Nationale de œuvres de Galilée, vol. V, 282-285). Otherwise, even with similar language in its teaching the Second Vatican Council: "The methodical research in all branches, if it proceeds in a truly scientific manner and in accord with moral norms, it never truly conflicts with faith, For earthly and things of faith derive from the same God "(Gaudium et Spes, 36).
Galileo sensed in his scientific research the presence of the Creator who stimulates him, anticipating and assisting his intuitions, in the depths of his spirit. About the invention of the telescope, he writes at the beginning of the Starry Messenger, recalling some of his astronomical discoveries: "Quae omnia ope Perspicilli me excogitati divine prius illuminating gratia, paucis abhinc diebus reperta, atque observata fuerunt" (Galileo, Starry Messenger, Venice , mcdx, fol. 4). "All these things have been discovered and observed in recent days thanks to the" telescope "that I have invented, after having been enlightened by divine grace."
Galileo's confession of divine illumination in the mind of the scientist is reflected in the aforementioned conciliar constitution on the Church in the Modern World: "Who The humble and persevering investigator of the secrets of reality, even without telling is led by the hand of God" ( Gaudium et Spes, 36). The humility which the conciliar text is a virtue of the spirit necessary for scientific research, and for the adherence to the faith. Humility creates a climate conducive to dialogue between the believer and the scientist; it calls for the illumination of God, already known or still unknown but loved in both in one case both by him who humbly seeks the truth.
8. Galileo formulated important norms of an epistemological character indispensable to reconcile Holy Scripture and science. In the letter to the grand duchess mother of Tuscany, Christine of Lorraine, he reaffirms the truth of Scripture: "Never lie to the Holy Scripture, the whole time that has penetrated his true feeling, which I do not think it can be denied often hidden and very different from what its bare meaning of the words "(Edition Nationale des œuvres de Galilée, vol. V, p. 315). Galileo introduces the principle of an interpretation of the sacred books, beyond the literal meaning, but conform the intention and the type of exposure to each of them. It is necessary, as he says, that "the exhibitors wise it real meaning."
The plurality of rules for the interpretation of the Holy Scripture, is the consent of the ecclesiastical magisterium, which expressly teaches in the encyclical Divino afflante Spiritu of Pius XII, the presence of different literary styles in the sacred books and therefore the need to conform to the character of interpretations everyone.
The various agreements that I mentioned do not in themselves solve all the problems of the Galileo case, but they contribute to create a starting point favorable to their honorable solution, a state of mind propitious to the honest and loyal solution of old oppositions.
The existence of this Pontifical Academy of Sciences, which in its most ancient ancestry Galileo was a member and which today includes leading scientists, without any form of ethnic or religious discrimination, is a visible sign, elevated among peoples, of ' deep harmony that can exist between the truths of science and the truths of the faith.
9. Besides the foundation of this Pontifical Academy, the Church wanted, for my predecessor John XXIII, promote and reward the progress of science by establishing the Pius XI Medal. Designated by the Academy Council I am happy to bestow this highest award to a young researcher, Dr. Antonio Paes de Carvalho, which led, with its fundamental research, an important contribution to the progress of science and the good of 'all of humanity.
10. Mr. President and of the Academy. Before the Cardinals here present, to the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See, to the distinguished scientists and personalities attending this academic session, I wish to declare that the universal Church, the Church of Rome with all the Churches throughout the world, attaches great importance to the function of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences.
Awarded the title of Pontifical Academy signifies, as you know, the interest and the commitment of the Church in various forms of ancient patronage, but no less deep and effective. As written by the distinguished President of the late Monsignor Lemaître: "Does the Church need science? Certainly not! The cross and the gospel are sufficient. But to the Christian nothing human is alien. How the Church could have interest in the most noble of the strictly human occupations: the search for truth? "(O. Godart-M. Heller, Les relations entre la science et la foi chez Georges Lemaître, in" the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, Commentaries ". vol. III, n. 21, p. 7).
In your and my academy work together scientists who are believers and non-believers, concurring in the search for truth and respect for all faiths. Allow me to quote again a bright Monsignor Lemaître: "Both - the believing scientist and the non-believer - they will endeavor to decipher the palimpsest of nature where the traces of the various stages of the long evolution of the world are overlaid and confused . The believer has perhaps the advantage of knowing that the enigma has a solution, that the underlying writing is, in the end, the work of an intelligent being, then, that the place of nature issue is place to be solved and that his difficulty is doubtless proportionate to the present or future capacity of mankind. This probably will not give him new resources in his investigation, but it will help keep you in a healthy optimism without which a sustained effort can not be kept up long "(Ibid, p. 11).
I wish you all the healthy optimism mentioned by Monsignor Lemaître and which draws its mysterious origin, but real, by God in which you have placed your faith or from the unknown God toward which the truth, the object of your enlightened research.
That the science that you, the Academy and scientists, the field of pure research as applied research, can, with the support of religion, helping humanity to rediscover the ways of hope and achieve the supreme goals of peace and of faith.

THE PONTIFICAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES
Saturday, October 31, 1992
Cardinals, Your Excellencies,
Ladies and gentlemen,
1. The conclusion of the plenary session of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences gives me the pleasant opportunity to meet its illustrious members, in the presence of my principal collaborators and the Heads of Diplomatic Missions accredited to the Holy See. To all I extend a warm greeting.
My thoughts go at this moment to Professor Marini-Bettòlo, where the disease prevents you from being among us; express fervent good wishes for his health and assure my prayers.
I also wish to greet the personalities who sit for the first time in your Academy; I extend to them my thanks for agreeing to the contribution of their high competence make to your work.
I was also pleased to greet here present Professor Adi Shamir, professor at the "Weizmann Institute of Science" in Rehovot (Israel), awarded the gold medal of Pius XI, awarded by the Academy, and to offer him my cordial congratulations.
Two arguments are now the object of our attention. They were ably presented with competence and I would like to express my gratitude to Cardinal Paul Poupard and Rev.do Father George Coyne for having done so.
2. First, I wish to congratulate the Pontifical Academy of Sciences for having chosen, for its plenary session, with a problem of great importance and of great relevance: the emergence of complexity in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology.
The emergence of the subject of complexity probably marks in the history of the natural sciences a stage as important as that to which it is linked the name of Galileo, when the order seemed to be obvious a unique model. Complexity indicates precisely that, in order to account of the real wealth, it is necessary to use a plurality of models.
This finding poses a question which concerns scientists, philosophers and theologians: how to reconcile the explanation of the world - and this from the level of elementary entities and phenomena - the recognition of the fact that "the whole is more than the sum the "parties?
In a rigorous description and formalization effort of the data of experience, the scientist is led to have recourse to the concepts metascientific whose use is as demanded by the logic of his procedure. It should be precise about the nature of these concepts, to avoid proceeding to undue extrapolations which link strictly scientific discoveries to a worldview or ideological or philosophical affirmations, which are in no way corollaries. Here one sees the importance of philosophy which considers phenomena as well as their interpretation.
3. Consider, for example, the development of new theories at the scientific level to explain the emergence of the living. Strictly method, it could not interpret them immediately and in the framework of science. In particular, when it comes to the living being which is man and of his brain, we can not say that these theories of themselves constitute an affirmation or a denial of the spiritual soul, or that they provide a proof of the doctrine of creation, or on the contrary, they render it useless.
You need a further work of interpretation: this is precisely the object of philosophy, which is the study of the global meaning of the data of experience, and therefore also of the phenomena gathered and analyzed by the sciences.
Contemporary culture demands a constant effort to synthesize knowledge and to integrate learning. Of course, to the specialization of research that they are due the successes which we see. But unless this is balanced by a reflection concerned with the articulation of knowledge, is the great risk that we shall have a "shattered culture," which would be the very negation of true culture. Since it can not be conceived of without humanism and wisdom.
4. I was moved by similar concerns, 10 November 1979, on the occasion of the celebration of the centenary of Albert Einstein's birth, when I expressed before this same Academy the hope that "theologians, scientists and historians, animated by a spirit sincere cooperation, to flesh out the examination of the Galileo case and, in frank recognition of wrongs from whatever side they were, they did disappear the distrust that this case still opposes, in many minds, a fruitful concord between science and faith "( AAS 71 [1979] 1464-1465). A study committee has been constituted for this purpose on 3 July 1981. And now, in the very year in which we celebrate the 350th anniversary of Galileo's death, the Commission shall, at the conclusion of its work, a number of publications that I value highly. I wish to express my sincere gratitude to Cardinal Poupard, in charge of coordinating the Commission's investigations in the final phase. To all the experts who participated in some way in the work of the four groups that guided this multidisciplinary study, I express my profound satisfaction and my deep gratitude. The work carried out for over ten years responds to a guideline suggested by the Second Vatican Council and enables us to shed light on several important aspects of the question. In the future, it can not fail to take account of the Commission's conclusions.
You will marvel that perhaps at the end of a week of the Academy studies on the emergence of complexity in the various sciences, I return to the Galileo case. Has not this case long been shelved and the mistakes were not recognized?
Of course, this is true. However, the underlying problems of this case concern the nature of science and the message of faith. It is therefore possible that you are one day ahead of a similar situation, which will require both sides to have an informed awareness of the field and the limits of their powers. The approach to the theme of complexity could provide an illustration.
5. A twofold question is at the heart of the debate of which Galileo was the center.
The first is of the epistemological order and concerns biblical hermeneutics. In this regard, two points have to be detected. First of all, like most of his opponents, Galileo does not distinguish between what is the scientific approach to natural phenomena and a reflection on the nature of the philosophical order, which that approach generally calls. That's why he rejected the suggestion that he had been given to present as a hypothesis the Copernican system, as long as it was not confirmed by irrefutable evidence. Such, therefore, a requirement of the experimental method of which he was the inspired founder.
In addition, the geocentric representation of the world was commonly accepted in the culture of the time as fully agreeing with the teaching of the Bible, of which certain expressions, taken literally, seemed to affirm geocentrism. The problem is thus posed by theologians of the time was that of the compatibility and Scripture.
Thus the new science, with its methods and the freedom of research which they implied, obliged theologians to examine their own criteria of scriptural interpretation. Most could not do it.
Paradoxically, Galileo, a sincere believer, showed himself more insightful on this point the theologians who opposed. "If Scripture can not err, he wrote to Benedetto Castelli, may nevertheless sometimes err no de 'its interpreters and, in various ways" (Letter of December 21, 1613, in the National Edition of the Works of Galileo Galilei, dir. A. Favaro, edition of 1968, vol. V, p. 282). He also knows of his letter to Christine of Lorraine (1615) which is like a short treatise on biblical hermeneutics (Ibid, 307-348).
6. We can now draw our first conclusion. The birth of a new way of approaching the study of natural phenomena demands a clarification of the disciplines of knowledge. It obliges them to define more clearly their own field, their approach, their methods, as well as the exact scope of their conclusions. In other words, this new way requires each discipline to become more rigorously aware of its own nature.
The upset caused by the Copernican system thus demanded epistemological reflection on the biblical sciences effort, effort that later would produce abundant fruit in modern exegetical works and which has found in the conciliar Constitution Dei Verbum sanction and a new impetus.
7. The crisis that I just mentioned is not the only factor to have had repercussions on biblical interpretation. Here we are the second aspect of the problem, the pastoral aspect.
By virtue of the mission which is proper, the Church has the duty to be attentive to the pastoral consequences of her teaching. It is clear, first, that this word must correspond to the truth. But it comes to knowing how to take into account new scientific data when it seems to contradict the truths of faith. The pastoral judgment which the Copernican theory was difficult to express the extent that geocentrism appeared to be part of scriptural teaching itself. It would be necessary at once to overcome habits of thought and devise a teaching capable of enlightening the people of God. Let's say, in a general way, that the pastor ought to show a genuine boldness, avoiding the double trap uncertain attitude and judgment rushed, being the one and the other do much harm.
8. Can be here evoked a similar crisis to that of which we speak. In the last century and the beginning of our own, it advances in the historical sciences has led to new understanding of the Bible and of the biblical. The rationalist context in which, for the most part, these data were presented seemed to make them dangerous to the Christian faith. Some, worried about defending the faith, thought it necessary to reject firmly-based historical conclusions. That was a hasty and unhappy decision. The work of a pioneer like Fr. Lagrange was able to make the necessary discernment on the basis of dependable criteria.
We must repeat here what I said above. It is a duty for theologians to keep themselves regularly informed of scientific advances in order to examine, if necessary, if it is the case whether or not to take them into account in their reflection or for introducing changes in their teaching.
9. If contemporary culture is marked by a tendency to scientism, the cultural horizon of Galileo's age was uniform and carried the imprint of a particular philosophical formation. This unitary character of culture, which in itself is positive and desirable even today, was one of the causes of the condemnation of Galileo. The not recognize the formal distinction between the majority of theologians Scripture and its interpretation, and this led them unduly to transpose into the field of the doctrine of faith a matter of fact pertained to scientific investigation.
In fact, as pointed out by Cardinal Poupard, Robert Bellarmine, who had seen what the real stakes of the debate game, thought on his part that the face of possible scientific proofs that the earth around the sun, one should "interpret with great consideration unfold the Scriptures that appear contrary "to the mobility of the earth, and" the sooner say that not understand it, it is false to say that what has been demonstrated "(Letter to Father A. Foscarini, 12 April 1615, cf. op. cit., vol. XII, p. 172). Before him, the same wisdom and the same respect for the divine Word had already led St. Augustine to write: "If a very obvious reason and secure it tried to oppose the authority of the Holy Scriptures, who does not understand this and opposes truth is not the true meaning of the Scriptures, that he could not penetrate, but their thoughts, that is, not what he found in the Scriptures, but what he found in himself, as if it were in them "(Epistula 143, n. 7; PL 33.588). A century ago, Pope Leo XIII echoed this thought in his encyclical Deus Providentissimus: "Because the truth is not in any way contradict the truth, you can be sure that a mistake has crept or in the interpretation of the sacred words, or in another area of discussion "(Leonis XIII Pont. Max. Acta, vol. XIII, 1894, p. 361).
Cardinal Poupard has also reminded us that the sentence of 1633 was not irreformable and how the debate, which had not ceased to evolve thereafter, was closed in 1820 with the imprimatur given to the work of canonical Settele (cf. Pontifical Academy of Sciences, Copernicus, Galileo and the Church. End of controversy (1820). the proceedings of the Holy Office, edited by W. Brandmüller and EJ Greipl, Florence, Olschki, 1992).
10. Starting from the Enlightenment to the present day, the Galileo case has been a sort of myth, in which the image of the events that we had built was quite far removed from reality. In this perspective, the Galileo case was the symbol of the alleged refusal by the Church, of scientific progress, or of "dogmatic" obscurantism opposed to the free search for truth. This myth has played a considerable cultural role; it has helped to anchor a number of scientists of good faith to the idea that there was an incompatibility between the spirit of science and its rules of research, on the one hand, and the Christian faith, on the other. A tragic mutual incomprehension has been interpreted as the reflection of a fundamental opposition between science and faith. The clarifications furnished by recent historical studies enable us to state that this sad misunderstanding now belongs to the past.
11. From the Galileo affair we can learn a lesson which remains valid in relation to similar situations which occur today and which may occur in the future.
In Galileo's time, it was inconceivable to depict the world as lacking an absolute physical reference point. And since the cosmos was then known, so to speak, contained in the solar system alone, you could not locate this reference point on earth or the sun. Today, neither of these two reference points we have the importance they once had after Einstein and within the perspective of contemporary cosmology. This observation, of course, does not affect the validity of Galileo's position in the debate; intends to show that often, beyond two partial and contrasting perceptions, there exists a wider perception which includes them and goes beyond both.
12. Another lesson that we can draw is that the different branches of knowledge call for different methods.
Galileo, who practically invented the experimental method, understood, thanks to his intuition as a brilliant physicist and by relying on different arguments, why only the sun could function as the center of the world, as it was then known, that is, as a planetary system.
The error of the theologians of the time, in supporting the centrality of the earth, was to think that our knowledge of the physical world's structure was, in a way, imposed by the literal sense of Sacred Scripture. But it should remember the famous saying attributed to Baronius: "Spiritui Sancto mentem fuisse nos docere quomodo to coelum eatur, non quomodo coelum gradiatur". In fact, Scripture does not address the details of the physical world, the knowledge of which is entrusted to the experience and human reasoning. There are two fields of knowledge, the one that has its source in Revelation and one which reason can discover by his own forces. To the latter belong the experimental sciences and philosophy. The distinction between the two fields of knowledge must not be understood as an opposition. The two areas are not entirely foreign to each other, but have points. The methodologies proper to each make it possible to highlight different aspects of reality.
13. Your Academy conducts its work with this outlook. Its main task is to promote the development of knowledge, with the legitimate autonomy of science (Second Vatican Council, Const. Past. Gaudium et Spes, 36, 2), which the Apostolic See expressly acknowledges in the statutes of your institution.
What is important in a scientific or philosophic theory is above all that it is true or, at least, seriously and solidly grounded. And the purpose of your Academy is precisely to discern and to make known, the current state of science and within its own sphere, what can be regarded as an acquired truth or at least equipped with such a probability that it would be imprudent and unreasonable to reject it. In this way unnecessary conflicts can be avoided.
The seriousness of scientific knowledge will thus be the best contribution that the Academy can make to the exact formulation and solution of the serious problems to which the Church, by virtue of its specific mission, is obliged to pay attention: problems that do not concern longer just astronomy, physics and mathematics, but also to relatively new disciplines such as biology and biogenetics. Many recent scientific discoveries and their possible applications affect man more directly than ever before himself, on his thought and action, to the point of seeming to threaten the very foundations of the human.
14. There is, for humanity, it two modes of development. The first involves culture, scientific and technical research, that is, everything that belongs to the horizontality of man and creation, and which is growing at an impressive rate. If this development should not remain completely external to man, it presupposes a simultaneous raising of conscience, as well as its implementation. The second mode of development involves what is deepest in the human when, transcending the world and himself, he turns to the One who is the Creator of all things.
Only this vertical direction may ultimately give all its meaning to being and man, because he is between its origin and its end. In this twofold direction, horizontal and vertical, man realizes himself fully as a spiritual being and as homo sapiens. But it is observed that development is not uniform and linear, and that progress is not always harmonious. This reveals the disorder that marks the human condition. The scientist, who is conscious of this twofold development and takes it into account contributes to the restoration of harmony.
Those who engage in scientific and technological research admit, as the premise of its progress, that the world is not a chaos but a "cosmos", that there exist order and natural laws which can be grasped and examined, and who a certain affinity with the spirit. Einstein was fond of saying: "What is there, in the world, eternally incomprehensible is that it is comprehensible" (In "The Journal of the Franklin Institute", vol. 221, no. 3, March 1936). This intelligibility, attested from the prodigious discoveries of science and technology, ultimately refers to the transcendent and primordial Thought everything bears the imprint.
Ladies and Gentlemen, in concluding these remarks, I express my best wishes that your research and reflection will help to give our contemporaries useful guidelines for building a harmonious society in a world more respectful of the human. I thank you for the service you render to the Holy See, and I ask God to fill you with his gifts.
Faith can never conflict with reason
The 'Galileo case' teaches us that different branches of knowledge call for different methods, each of which brings out various aspects of reality

After 350 Years, Vatican Says Galileo Was Right: It Moves - October 31, 1992
ROME, Oct. 30— More than 350 years after the Roman Catholic Church condemned Galileo, Pope John Paul II is poised to rectify one of the Church's most infamous wrongs -- the persecution of the Italian astronomer and physicist for proving the Earth moves around the Sun.
With a formal statement at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences on Saturday, Vatican officials said the Pope will formally close a 13-year investigation into the Church's condemnation of Galileo in 1633. The condemnation, which forced the astronomer and physicist to recant his discoveries, led to Galileo's house arrest for eight years before his death in 1642 at the age of 77.
The dispute between the Church and Galileo has long stood as one of history's great emblems of conflict between reason and dogma, science and faith. The Vatican's formal acknowledgement of an error, moreover, is a rarity in an institution built over centuries on the belief that the Church is the final arbiter in matters of faith.
At the time of his condemnation, Galileo had won fame and the patronage of leading Italian powers like the Medicis and Barberinis for discoveries he had made with the astronomical telescope he had built. But when his observations led him to proof of the Copernican theory of the solar system, in which the sun and not the earth is the center, and which the Church regarded as heresy, Galileo was summoned to Rome by the Inquisition. Forced to Recant…

Priest hits out at Church’s ‘nonsensical’ doctrine on homosexuality - March 1, 2016
The Catholic Church’s doctrine on homosexuality is “nonsensical” and its stance against the proposed criminalisation of gay conversion therapy is flawed, Fr Rene Camilleri said.
“The Catholic Church’s doctrine still refers to homosexuality in terms of it being an illness or a disorder,” Camilleri said during an interview aired on Monday night’s edition of Reporter. “Speaking like that in today’s society is simply nonsensical.”
Camilleri, the head of the Curia’s secretariat for catechesis, criticised the Maltese Church’s recent controversial position paper that took a stance against a Bill to criminalise LGBT conversion ‘therapy’.
“The Church has long been accustomed to keeping silent on major national issues, but [Archbishop] Charles Scicluna’s strategy is to request position papers on such issues so that the Church can take a stance…

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò is a staunch conservative and was vocally opposed to same-sex marriage throughout his five-year tenure as the Vatican’s nuncio (ambassador) to the United States.
He also sent an anonymous invite to Ms. Kim Davis, of anti-equality fame, to the Pope’s DC visit. While people, here and elsewhere, initially thought this was a coup for Davis and bigotry, Pope Francis turned the other cheek.
And now word comes that the incident is prompting The Vatican to replace Vigano. A friend of the Pope’s claimed he was blindsided by the meeting, and the move caused the Vatican to distance itself from Viganò, leading many to believe the Pope would quietly replace him as his “statutory retirement age” was approaching. Viganò turned 75 in January; when bishops and archbishops reach that age, they are required to submit a letter of resignation to the Vatican…

When our sister daily newspaper carried a story earlier this week that Fr Mark Montebello had blessed the rings of a gay couple during their engagement ceremony, he was summarily summoned by the Archbishop who told the outspoken priest to continue his pastoral work with gay people but instructed him to no longer go against the Church’s guidelines on this sensitive subject.
The Malta Independent on Sunday spoke to two other outspoken members of the clergy – Fr Rene Camilleri and Fr Colin Apap – about the controversy over whether priests should bless the rings of gay couples or couples who opt for civil instead of Church marriages.
According to Fr Camilleri: “Today, we are facing new realities such as divorced couples, civil unions and the introduction of the gender identity bill. The Church has to take account of these realities and take bold choices about them. It can’t afford to keep repeating old teachings because these realities are here to stay.”…

Malta’s top catechist has questioned Catholic teachings on homosexuality and criticized a position paper about reparative therapy released by that nation’s bishops last week.
Fr. Rene Camilleri, who heads Malta’s Secretariat for Catechesis and is the Archbishop’s Delegate for Evangelization, called church doctrine on homosexuality “nonsensical,” reported Malta Today. He said:
” ‘The Catholic Church’s doctrine still refers to homosexuality in terms of it being an illness or a disorder. . .Speaking like that in today’s society is simply nonsensical.’ “
Camilleri was responding to a position paper from the Maltese bishops opposing the criminalization of reparative therapy, a proposal currently under consideration by the island nation’s legislature. The paper linked homosexuality to pedophilia and to mental illness, prompting strong criticism and even an acknowledgement from Archbishop Charles Scicluna that the paper was a mistake. Camilleri added his own critiques, saying:… Photo

CURIAL OFFICIAL DECLARES CATHOLIC TEACHING ON HOMOSEXUALITY NONSENSE - March 2, 2016
ROME – Pope Francis’ penchant for calling people out of the blue is already the stuff of legend, and the “cold call pope” was back at it again recently, stunning a sick Italian seminarian with a call to promise prayers and to urge him not to lose hope.
The call to Antonio Esposito came on March 18 at 4:00 p.m., according to the regional Italian newspaper Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno. According to the report, Esposito answered his phone and was astonished to hear the pope on the other end of the line.
“Hi Antonio, good afternoon, sorry if I’m bothering you, but it’s Pope Francis,” Esposito reported hearing. “How are you?”
As often happens in these cases, Esposito said at first he thought the call was a prank. Quickly, however, he realized that very few people actually have the number Francis was calling, and that, plus the familiar-sounding voice, confirmed it was actually the pontiff.
Over his first three years as pope, unexpected phone calls have become a trademark Francis flourish. Journalists, politicians, Churchmen, and ordinary people alike have all been on the receiving end, often after having written the pope to request prayers or insight on some personal issue…

Vatican to Replace Diplomat Who Set Up Kim Davis Meeting - March 18, 2016
The Vatican is replacing its controversial ambassador to the U.S., who arranged the meeting between Pope Francis and antigay Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis last fall.
Italian Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò will leave the position of apostolic nuncio, the equivalent of an ambassador, and will be replaced by Archbishop Christophe Pierre, a French-born clergyman who is currently the nuncio to Mexico, Catholic magazine America reports, citing Sandro Magister, a blogger who covers the Vatican.
The Vatican is not expected to confirm the news until the Obama administration has agreed to the new nuncio’s appointment, the magazine notes, but it adds that “reliable sources” expect an official announcement before Easter, which falls on March 27 this year. Because of his experience in Mexico, Pierre may well emphasize immigration issues, The Washington Post reports….

…In reality, Pope Francis' current ambassador, or nuncio, to the U.S., Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, was still in his job, though that could change at any minute.
Church sources say that the pontiff has chosen French-born Archbishop Christophe Pierre, now the Vatican's representative to Mexico, to be his next envoy to the U.S., a move that has generated widespread speculation about what Pierre will do when he arrives, in part because the man he is replacing has been so controversial.
Vigano gained notoriety last September when it emerged that he set up a secret meeting between Francis and Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who briefly went to jail for refusing to sign marriage certificates for gay couples.
The encounter took place at the Vatican Embassy in Washington when the pontiff was visiting the nation's capital. When news leaked a few days after Francis returned to Rome, it caused an uproar because it made it seem the pope had quietly been giving support to an icon of the very culture wars that he had spent his visit preaching against.
That also cast a shadow over what was otherwise an enormously successful and historic trip, Francis' first-ever to the U.S.
It turned out, however, that the pope had been as blindsided as everyone else. He didn't know who Davis was, church officials said, nor did he understand the implications of meeting her, and he was reportedly furious that his chief diplomatic representative in the U.S. had arranged the decidedly undiplomatic meeting.
The Italian-born Vigano was immediately called back to Rome and called on the carpet, and it was considered providential that Vigano reached the mandatory retirement age of 75 in January and could be eased out gracefully, a move that may either happen very soon or not until after Easter… Photo

After Vatican Interference, Gay-Themed ‘Weekend’ Scores Strong Niche Opening in Italy - March 14, 2016
ROME — British writer-director Andrew Haigh’s gay romantic drama “Weekend” scored the top per-screen-average this weekend as it opened in Italy despite getting the thumbs down from the Vatican, which had limited the scope of its release, according to distributor Teodora Film…
Teodora co-topper Cesare Petrillo lamented last week that bookings for “Weekend,” were suddenly cut down to ten screens after the Italian Bishop’s Conference Film Evaluation Commission classified the pic as “not advised, unusable and scabrous (indecent or salacious).”
The Vatican owns many of the country’s arthouse movie theaters. While it does not operate them, it can hold sway on their programming, though this rarely occurs.
On Monday Teodora trumpeted its “Weekend” numbers, boasting that the gay love story set during a weekend in Nottingham between 34-year-old Russell (Tom Cullen), a lifeguard at a public swimming pool, and conceptual artist Glen (Chris New) was the top per-screen earner in Rome. Pic pulled more than $17,000 from one screen at arthouse Quattro Fontane, which is more than any other single movie screen take in that frame in the Italian capital, including multiplexes.
“Weekend” will now be screening on 21 Italian screens next weekend.

Understanding Sexual Orientation - American Psychological Association
Sexual orientation refers to an enduring pattern of emotional, romantic and/or sexual attractions to men, women or both sexes…Research over several decades has demonstrated that sexual orientation ranges along a continuum, from exclusive attraction to the other sex to exclusive attraction to the same sex. However, sexual orientation is usually discussed in terms of three categories: heterosexual (having emotional, romantic or sexual attractions to members of the other sex), gay/lesbian (having emotional, romantic or sexual attractions to members of one's own sex) and bisexual (having emotional, romantic or sexual attractions to both men and women). This range of behaviors and attractions has been described in various cultures and nations throughout the world…
…sexual orientation is defined in terms of relationships with others…sexual orientation is closely tied to the intimate personal relationships that meet deeply felt needs for love, attachment and intimacy. In addition to sexual behaviors, these bonds include nonsexual physical affection between partners, shared goals and values, mutual support, and ongoing commitment.…

Parental Autonomy Support and Discrepancies Between Implicit and Explicit Sexual Identities: Dynamics of Self-Acceptance and Defense - 2012 https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Cody_DeHaan/publication/221790068_Parental_Autonomy_Support_and_Discrepancies_Between_Implicit_and_Explicit_Sexual_Identities_Dynamics_of_Self-Acceptance_and_Defense/links/0f31752d7447a6e150000000.pdf?
When individuals grow up with autonomy-thwarting parents, they may be prevented from exploring internally endorsed values and identities and as a result shut out aspects of the self perceived to be unacceptable. Given the stigmatization of homosexuality, individuals perceiving low autonomy support from parents may be especially motivated to conceal same-sex sexual attraction, leading to defensive processes such as reaction formation…
…Psychodynamic traditions hold that people have a preferred view of themselves, which may not reflect reality. When this idealized view is threatened by contradictory thoughts or feelings, people engage in one or more unconscious processes to defend against the threat to self. Among defensive processes that have been recognized as having some empirical support is reaction formation, a process indicated in the modern body of research on self-esteem preservation (e.g., Baumeister, Dale, & Sommer, 1998).
Reaction formation refers to the process of adopting values or beliefs, or engaging in behaviors, that are in opposition to feelings or impulses experienced within oneself that are deemed unacceptable. Empirical work has shown reaction formation processes with respect to sexism (Sherman & Garkin, 1980), sex guilt (Morokoff, 1985), and prejudice (Dutton & Lake, 1973), indicating that individuals sometimes defend against self-relevant, threatening information by engaging in opposing behaviors… Read more:
SEXUAL ORIENTATION (bisexual, homosexual and heterosexual) - functions automatically and continuously throughout life - as part of the autonomic nervous system - like breathing, or the heart beating, they functions unconsciously meaning we do not have think about breathing that we need to take a breath. A research study, at Cornell University found that measurements of pupil dilation taken while study participants viewed erotic videos of people they found attractive - was a robust indicator of - a person’s sexual orientation and of the activation of the autonomic nervous system. The results of bisexual men was of significant importance in this new study that revealed they had substantial pupil dilations to sexual videos of both men and women. Photo
The Eyes Have It: Sex and Sexual Orientation Differences in Pupil Dilation Patterns - August 3. 2012
…pupil dilation to stimuli indicates activation of the autonomic nervous system. This system is associated with many automatic processes such as perspiration, digestion, blood pressure, and heart rate. For this reason, pupil dilation has been used as indicator of automatic response, for example, in studies of implicit reaction and cognitive load. Other research suggests that pupil dilation can reflect automatic attention, or attention that is likely not in the conscious control of participants. It is therefore unlikely that participants suppress pupil dilation to stimuli they are sexually attracted to. Pupil dilation patterns could therefore reflect, with high sensitivity, automatic attention related to sexual attraction and sexual orientation…

Recent research studies have proved that the lifespan of gay people and gay priests living in strongly antigay prejudice community i.e. curial and hierarchical live shorter lives - up 12 years shorter than gay people living in more gay friendly communities i.e. Episcopal Church. However, heterosexuals with anti-gay biases also live shorter lives. It speaks to the fact that these heterosexuals are more than likely - not so completely heterosexual, and there is research to prove this fact.

Anti-Gay Prejudice and All-Cause Mortality Among Heterosexuals in the United States - December 12, 2013
…The current study provides some of the strongest evidence to date that antigay prejudice may be an important indicator of heightened mortality risk among majority group members. Prior research has indicated that antigay prejudice harms the mental and physical health of sexual minorities. In so doing, the study demonstrates the public health impact of anti- gay prejudice and suggests that efforts to improve antigay attitudes may improve health outcomes at a population level.

Psychoticism, Immature Defense Mechanisms and a Fearful Attachment Style are Associated with a Higher Homophobic Attitude - September 8, 2015
…We demonstrated the involvement of psychoticism and immature defense mechanisms in homophobic attitudes, while a contrasting role is played by neurotic defense mechanisms and depressive symptoms. Moreover, secure attachment is an indicator of low levels of homophobia compared with the subjects demonstrating a fearful style of attachment. Hence, in the assessment of homophobia and in the relevant programs of prevention, it is necessary to consider the psychologic aspects described earlier…
Homophobia is a significant social problem that involves specific personality features in the subjects, with an intrinsic aversion toward homosexuals. Psychoticism and immature defense mechanisms specify people with higher levels of homophobia, highlighting a remarkable association between dysfunctional aspects of personality and homophobic attitudes. This association could generate two possible victims: potential sexual offenders, and above all, homosexual subjects. Moreover, our study follows a controversial issue regarding homophobia as a possible mental disorder, and it also discusses the possible clinical implications that cross inevitably into the area of psychiatric epistemology. Therefore, to know and to assess the relationship between psychopathology and homophobia is a fundamental challenge in preventing the stigma toward homosexuality. Photo

Let us not assassinate this lad further, Senator…

In just reviewing all of the documented facts that took place before, during and after the two sessions of the Synod on Family 2014, and 2015 - as vivid as a flashing neon sign, a thousand times bigger than St. Peter’s Basilica - Cardinal Burke, and the majority of the members of the curia and hierarchy blinded by the symptoms of groupthink (http://web.stanford.edu/group/scie/Career/Wisdom/groupthink1.htm) - OUTED themselves as severely violent closeted repressed homosexuals. Photo
First, by their instant volcanic emotional eruption triggered by the midterm report 2014 regarding - the idea of welcoming gay people and valuing gay loving committed relationships. Second, this was followed by their year long orchestrated planning to disrupt the proceedings of the Synod 2015 - to prevent any open discussion on these issues. Surprisingly, this included a scheduled bombardment of attacks against me for nearly 7 months before the Synod 2015. It seemly was meant to keep me in a state of distressed unable to continue writing anything that would be considered of importance for the Synod 2015, as it seemed was the case for the Synod 2014. It is hard to believe that I could be perceived as such a substantial threat - meaning has anyone really been reading my postings on the Thalamus Center. Photo

However, my postings rely heavily on ample amounts of documentation, because I think that it is important for people to have enough access to information to begin their own investigation into any one issue. It is what good teachers do. So, if am a threat - it is only because I am the direct opposite of Cardinal Burke, I do not believe in forcing anyone to have to accept anything I say or think. I really prefer hearing an endless variety of sincere view points - I believe that is a major part of education. I realize that, instead for Burke this is a major threat, because, like Joseph McCarthy, a fully rounded education - takes all the wind out of his fierce demagoguery, which is solely hot air and no documentation (http://fathermartykurylowicz.blogspot.com/2015/07/part-2-obedient-to-whom-1997-2015.html). And in addition, it exposes his homophobia, his own personal gender issues (http://ncronline.org/news/people/cardinal-raymond-burke-feminized-church-and-altar-girls-caused-priest-shortage) and his obsession searching for pornography. Burke made this demagogic statement about gay priests, “who were feminized and confused about their own sexual identity” however, because it completely baseless - it then is a projection of his own internal conflict about his own gender that he is confused about (http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/religion/cardinal-raymond-burke-gays-remarried-catholics-murderers-are-all-the-same/2015/03/27/2c2125b8-d4b5-11e4-8b1e-274d670aa9c9_story.html). Just because I prefer to read and will challenge his false and demeaning statements - so harmful to children for life - that is not a reason to try to have me removed from the priesthood. It does present a problem - remove me and then there will be 100s of priests like Burke.

INTERNALIZED AND EXTERNAL HOMOPHOBIA IN THE TREATMENT OF AN ADOLESCENT BOY - MARY T. BRADY, Ph.D. - 2010
Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Vol. 47, No. 4. ISSN 0010-7530
…Moss (2002)… He describes internalized homophobia in men as a movement from a personal subjective experience of homosexual impulses, which, if threatening, is defended against by a movement towards identifying with “masculine” group hatred towards homosexuality. He notes that the conventional usage of the term “internalized homophobia” “aims to describe and to partially account for a sexual identity characterized by persistent, structured negative feelings, particularly shame and self-loathing. Implicit . . . is the idea that such feelings represent the dynamic outcome of an internalization of the dominant culture’s attitude toward homosexuality”…
…Moss’s reminder that the concept of internalized homophobia relates not only to relatively accessible dimensions of experience but also to profoundly unconscious dynamics essential. He points to the complex manner in which the internalization of social, cultural, and familial rejections combines with intrapsychic issues:
Internalized homophobia is a symptomatic structure. Conceptually it is best thought of as a multilevel phenomenon. At a minimum it refers both to the widespread internalization of the dominant culture’s interdiction against homosexuality and to a particular individual’s defensive and possibly idiosyncratic employment of the interdiction. (Moss, 2002, p. 49)
That is, the internalization of prejudice meets the complexities of psychic reality and developmental processes, intermingling into complex states of shame and superego judgment. Harris (1996) pithily expresses it as follows: “Homophobia, like many aspects of ideology, is both in us and we are in it” (p. 363)… Photo - Definition

These same lethally harmful covert tactics - were used against Pope Francis during the synod proceedings of 2015 - by the leaking of the false rumors that he had a brain tumor.
Pope Francis has a brain tumor? Sharp denials amid synod silly season - October 21, 2015 VATICAN CITY (RNS) The Vatican on Wednesday (Oct. 21) categorically denied a story from an Italian news agency that Pope Francis has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, calling the report “unfounded” and “seriously irresponsible.” Photo
The brief and unsourced story was published late Tuesday on the website of Quotidiano Nazionale, or National Daily, which said only that a small tumor was discovered “months” ago and that no surgery would be required.
The scoop was quickly called into question, in part because the story provided so few details and because the Vatican has been swirling with rumors this month during an intense and contentious debate over church teachings among 270 bishops gathered for a global synod on the family.
The synod has featured unusually open arguments and no small amount of public sniping among churchmen, as well as revelations of a secret letter to the pope and accusations of behind-the-scenes “rigging” and “manipulation.”…

Pope Francis celebrated his 79th birthday on Thursday amid hopes among his critics that it will be his last - at least as pope.
While Francis remains enormously popular among most rank-and-file Catholics, a small but vocal group of conservatives who have never much cared for his radical agenda have grown increasingly strident in criticising him now that there is little doubt left about his priorities.
…The Remnant, a small, traditionalist US newspaper, last week wrote an open letter begging Francis to change course or resign, arguing that his papacy was 'causing grave harm to the church'. Organisers say a few thousand people have signed onto the petition.
' …This appalling situation has no parallel in church history.'
To put it more simply: 'Many people in the Vatican want Francis dead,' said Francesca Chaouqui, the woman at the heart of a leaks scandal currently convulsing Francis' Vatican.
In an interview last weekend with Italy's La Stampa newspaper, Chaouqui said Francis' in-house reforms and nominations have emboldened his enemies, many of whom were in the Vatican when Francis was archbishop of Buenos Aires and had a less-than-pleasant relationship with Rome.
Some of these cardinals and bishops are openly resisting his reforms while others inside and out of the Vatican are simply waiting out his pontificate under the argument that popes come and go but the Curia remains… Photo

Early Childhood Psychological Development
Growing up Gay
My name is Fr. Marty Kurylowicz, a Roman Catholic priest from the Diocese of Grand Rapids Michigan ordained June 16, 1979.
In March 1997, after attending a National Symposium of the New Ways Ministry that was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I learned that children as young as 4 and 5 years of age know that they are different. This feeling "different" is only identified in their adult years as being gay. However, the harmful influence of antigay social and religious norms -- in particular, for Catholics, the Vatican’s unsubstantiated antigay teachings -- are severe and last throughout a child’s lifetime. The harmful effects are not isolated only to these children who grow up to be gay, but also affect their families, siblings, friends and anyone whom they might consider special in their lives. They are a prescribed societal sentence of implicit isolation, which place at risk of suicide so many innocent adolescents and young adults. They stifle an enormous amount of human potential in the world that otherwise could be put to use for finding cures for diseases, offering better ways of maintaining peace among people and improving the quality of life for everyone in the world…

Experts praise Vatican's finance laws, but call for clampdown on crime - December 16, 2015 VATICAN CITY
European experts on preventing financial crimes praised the Vatican for significant steps in establishing laws and procedures in line with international protocols, but called for "real results" in cracking down on infractions and prosecuting offenses.

Roman Catholic hierarchy child sexual abuse “cover-ups” - to avoid public outrage & criminal charges falsely accused gay priests, WATERGATE? - Fr. Marty Kurylowicz - December 17, 2009
...A major problem with the hierarchical structure of the Roman Catholic Church is that there are no “checks and balances.” When the necessary “checks and balances” are not in place to protect any organization, it leaves "not making waves" the rule that governs the hierarchy and opens the way to many devastating mistakes harmful to everyone and allows corruption to grow...
There within the Thalamus Center, for the continual protection of children - I have persistently and forthrightly been challenging the erroneous public antigay demagoguery statements made - led and orchestrated by Cardinal Burke - because of the lifelong harmful effects it has on the lives of children. Pope Benedict XVI and Cardinal Burke are both - two prime examples of this devastating lifelong harmful effects. Pope Benedict XVI grew up in the severely dehumanizing antigay social environment of Nazi Germany and Burke grew up in the dehumanizing antigay demagoguery social environment of US Senator Joseph McCarthy. Together - this is evident by the extensive documentation over the past 30 years, regarding their obsessive reenactments of the same extraordinary relentless violent public demagoguery crusade condemning homosexuals that dominated their early childhood years growing up. Photo
Pope Benedict XVI, at the of six years old being raised in Nazi Germany - was significantly affected by the Nazi building upon societal prejudices against homosexuals, in order to scapegoat this negative image of homosexuals - to falsely accuse the Catholic priests who outwardly opposed the Nazi racial policies. The Nazi did this - in order to avoid public outrage for removing these priests to concentration camps. In this way, the Nazi effectively silenced their opposition and use this fear to intimidating anyone else who dare to speak against the Nazi racial policy. Photo

In particular, Burke has been mirroring - the distortions and false statements of McCarthy’s demagoguery regarding his conspiracy theories that Communists and homosexuals were an imminent threat to the US government were terrorizing the nation. Photo
Cardinal Raymond Burke: Gays, remarried Catholics, murderers are all the same - 3/27/15
Burke has repeatedly used the almost exact same type of erroneous terrorizing tactics of intimidation that McCarthy used to expel those he suspected of being homosexual from government positions, to remove gay priests from the Church. McCarthy is noted for destroying people's reputations and even their lives by making his false accusations of people he suspected are part of a conspiracy to take over the US government.
Edward Murrow Challenges Joseph McCarthy
Using partial truths, distortions, and some flat out lies in speeches and in hearings, McCarthy was a poster child for people who saw Communist conspiracies everywhere. On the March 9, 1954 episode of See It Now, Murrow systematically countered the charges McCarthy made in public. During the show, Murrow played clips of McCarthy making charges and then answered him using McCarthy’s own words. Public opinion was starting to turn and seemed to turn faster after the show… Photo

Having searched my conscience and my files, I cannot contend that I have always been right or wise. But I have attempted to pursue the truth with some diligence and to report it, even though, as in this case, I had been warned in advance that I would be subjected to the attentions of Senator McCarthy...

Army-McCarthy hearings
Joseph McCarthy - U.S. Senator from Wisconsin (1947–57)
...Not as widely known as McCarthy's anti-Communist crusade were his various attempts to intimidate, and expel from government positions, persons whom he accused, or threatened to publicly accuse, of homosexuality. Former U.S. Senator Alan K. Simpson has written: "The so-called 'Red Scare' has been the main focus of most historians of that period of time. A lesser-known element...and one that harmed far more people was the witch-hunt McCarthy and others conducted against homosexuals.” This anti-homosexual witch-hunt that McCarthy and others waged alongside their "Red Scare" tactics has been referred to by some as the "Lavender Scare"...

The lavender scare refers to the fear and persecution of homosexuals in the 1950s in the United States and United Kingdom, which paralleled the anti-communist campaign known as McCarthyism. Gay men and lesbians were often considered communist sympathizers ("fellow travelers"), and the era of lavender scare "may be seen as the time when homosexuals became the chief scapegoats of the Cold War.”

Part 2 - - OBEDIENT to WHOM??? - 1997-2015 Protecting Gay Children - vs. - Burke’s Hysterical Antigay Demagoguery: LOBOTOMY on Truth & the GENOCIDE of Gay Children - Received Mercier’s Letter on March 20, 2015 - KIDS ARE BEING HURT!!!
…Senator McCarthy (R-Wisconsin) experienced a meteoric rise to fame and power in the U.S. Senate when he charged in February 1950 that “hundreds” of “known communists” were in the Department of State. In the years that followed, McCarthy became the acknowledged leader of the so-called Red Scare, a time when millions of Americans became convinced that communists had infiltrated every aspect of American life. Behind closed-door hearings, McCarthy bullied, lied, and smeared his way to power, destroying many careers and lives in the process...
...however, McCarthy’s recklessness and increasingly erratic behavior became unacceptable and the senator saw his clout slowly ebbing away. In a last-ditch effort to revitalize his anticommunist crusade, McCarthy made a crucial mistake. He charged in early 1954 that the U.S. Army was “soft” on communism. As Chairman of the Senate Government Operations Committee, McCarthy opened hearings into the Army. Photo
Joseph N. Welch, a soft-spoken lawyer with an incisive wit and intelligence, represented the Army. During the course of weeks of hearings, Welch blunted every one of McCarthy’s charges. The senator, in turn, became increasingly enraged, bellowing “point of order, point of order,” screaming at witnesses, and declaring that one highly decorated general was a “disgrace” to his uniform. On June 9, 1954, McCarthy again became agitated at Welch’s steady destruction of each of his arguments and witnesses. In response, McCarthy charged that Frederick G. Fisher, a young associate in Welch’s law firm, had been a long-time member of an organization that was a “legal arm of the Communist Party.” Welch was stunned. As he struggled to maintain his composure, he looked at McCarthy and declared, “Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness.” It was then McCarthy’s turn to be stunned into silence, as Welch asked, “Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last?” The audience of citizens and newspaper and television reporters burst into wild applause. Just a week later, the hearings into the Army came to a close. McCarthy, exposed as a reckless bully, was officially condemned by the U.S. Senate for contempt against his colleagues in December 1954...

Burke has been plagued with fictitious conspiracy theories regarding gay agendas, and powerful gay lobbies within the Church. He even warned Pope Francis of the same. It may even account for the endless conspiracy theories that saturated the proceedings of the Synod 2015 along with other ruthless tactics were meant to prevented any further discussion on welcoming gay people and valuing gay loving committed relationships, including attacking Pope Francis’s reputation by leaking the false rumor that he has a brain tumor (http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2015/10/22/450801081/vatican-says-rumors-about-pope-s-health-are-attempt-to-undermine-him). Pope Francis continues his critique of religious fundamentalism - Dec. 3, 2015
FLORENCE, ITALY Pope Francis has strongly outlined anew a comprehensive vision for the future of the Catholic church, forcefully telling an emblematic meeting of the entire Italian church community here that our times require a deeply merciful Catholicism that is unafraid of change…
Francis said Catholics must realize: "We are not living an era of change but a change of era."
"Before the problems of the church it is not useful to search for solutions in conservatism or fundamentalism in the restoration of obsolete conduct and forms that no longer have the capacity of being significant culturally," the pontiff said at one point during his remarks.
"Christian doctrine is not a closed system incapable of generating questions, doubts, interrogatives -- but is alive, knows being unsettled, enlivened," said the pope. "It has a face that is not rigid, it has a body that moves and grows, it has a soft flesh: it is called Jesus Christ."
"The reform of the church then, and the church is semper reformanda ... does not end in the umpteenth plan to change structures," he continued. "It means instead grafting yourself to and rooting yourself in Christ, leaving yourself to be guided by the Spirit -- so that all will be possible with genius and creativity.”…
"A new humanism in Jesus Christ…” Photo

Pope’s Press Conference on Flight from Bangui to Rome (Unofficial Transcript) - Nov. 30, 2015
…We are all children of God, we have the same father. And in this sense one must make a politics of unity, or reconciliation, and – though I do not like the word, but I must use it –tolerance. So, fundamentalism is an illness that is in all religions.
We Catholics have them, not a few but many, who think they have the absolute truth, and they go ahead throwing mud on others with calumny, defamation, and they do harm. I can say this because it is my church: also we, and we all. One must fight, because religious fundamentalism is not religious. Why? Because it lacks God. It is idolatry, just as money is idolatry. To do politics in the sense of convincing the people that have this tendency is a politics that we religious leaders must do. But fundamentalism that always ends in a tragedy or in crimes is a bad thing, but a piece of it comes in all religions…
The “Sour” FRUIT BOWL - Vatican City
The fact is that during the course of the two sessions on the Synod on Family 2014 and 2015 by their own public reactions and statements made against the idea or any further open discussion on the topic of welcoming gay people and valuing gay loving committed relationships, as stated above, - "Cardinal Burke, and the majority of the members of the curia and hierarchy blinded by the symptoms of groupthink (http://web.stanford.edu/group/scie/Career/Wisdom/groupthink1.htm) - OUTED themselves as severely violent closeted repressed homosexuals." (Photo - NEW YORK CITY, USA - JUNE 30, 2013: Drag queen celebrates the annual gay pride event in dramatic rainbow dress with matching headdress. — Foto de Lazyllama)
This, of course, does not included everyone, as it was also revealed during the course of these two sessions on the Synod on Family 2014 and 2015. There are some remarkably courageous members of the hierarchy, few though they may be, who struggled to push for a broader more thorough and comprehensive open discussion from all the related academic perspectives on the sexual orientation of homosexuality. However, they were forcefully blocked from doing so, by the “fishy” orchestrated hysteria of the infusion of conspiracy theories, threats of “walkouts”, false rumors of “brain tumors” called “the saga part of a ‘calumny to block change’”.

Vatican Says Rumors About Pope's Health Are Attempt To Undermine Him - October 22, 2015
After repeatedly denying reports that Pope Francis has a benign brain tumor Wednesday, the Vatican is going a step further, calling the rumor "false information" that's meant to destabilize the papacy. The doctor named in the reports also says they're untrue… Photo
From Rome, NPR'S Sylvia Poggioli reports:
"The suggestion that the tumor report was part of a plot against Pope Francis was put forth by the official Vatican daily L'Osservatore Romano. It wrote, "the timing of the claim reveals there was an intent to manipulate and cause a dust storm of confusion."
"Cardinal Walter Kasper said it was part of an effort to undermine the bishops' assembly…

Cardinal Donald Wuerl has flatly denied the allegations by some of his fellow cardinals and bishops that the fathers attending the synod are “somehow” being manipulated by the pope and the synod structure that Francis approved. He wonders whether the underlying reason why they are suggesting or saying such things is because “they just don’t like this pope,” and find the church that he is calling for “somewhat threatening.”
In this interview with America on Oct. 18, the cardinal archbishop of Washington charged that a number of his brother cardinals and bishops have their own position and think that some questions now on the synod agenda should not even be discussed. He said some of these people “are speaking, sometimes surreptitiously, sometimes half-way implying, then backing off and then twisting around” and in this way they have "tainted" the synod process in the public eye with their groundless allegations of manipulation, and so cast a cloud over its outcome.
Asked what he would say to those bishops who said and did such things, Wuerl replied:
“There’s not much you can say because if someone isn’t willing to hear you . . . ”…

…But there were limits. Bishop Johan Bonny of Antwerp, Belgium, said that when he raised the idea in his working group at the synod that committed same-sex relationships could have spiritual value, “bad feelings came up.”
In the end, he said he was pleased that the synod did not delve deeper into the issue of homosexuality.
“That is a point for next time,” he said. “Better to leave it for later than discuss it in a hot and bad atmosphere.” Photo

Opposition to Pope Francis Comes Out of the Closet - Dec. 4, 2015
A recent spate of articles demonstrates that the opposition to Pope Francis is not exactly warming to the idea of the Jubilee Year of Mercy, still less to the pope himself. The more I read the opposition, the more it becomes clear that Cardinal Donald Wuerl, during the synod, was correct when he said of the opposition, “I wonder if some of these people who are speaking, sometimes surreptitiously, sometimes half-way implying, then backing off and then twisting around, I wonder if it is really that they find they just don’t like this pope. I wonder if that isn’t part of it.” Not sure whether to file the following examples of disliking the pope under the sad, funny or tragic categories, but they are all, in their different ways, undermining the pope…

However, given the ongoing Vatican gay-sex scandals this is hardly news. What it has done was to us give a more complete picture of homosexuality as to how extensively it has engulfed the Vatican and has spread throughout the hierarchy, globally. Though, it is one that indicates it is far more complicated than anyone could imagine. It appears to be a prism of - nearly a full spectrum of the extensive variability of how homosexuality is expressed among the individual clerics associated with the Vatican. Pope Francis referred to the curia in his Christmas address December 22, 2014 (http://en.radiovaticana.va/news/2014/12/22/pope_francis_christmas_greetings_to_curia/1115668), as a microcosm of the Church. It appears that this spectrum of the variability of homosexuality contained at the Vatican - is also a microcosm of homosexuality that exist in the Church. It would truly be a most interesting research project that would prove to be of monumental importance in furthering the understanding of human sexuality - in particular homosexual sexual orientation.

April 2009 - SEXUAL ORIENTATION is less about sex and more about LOVE, being one with another human being. Attachment Theory - LOVE & RELIGION - Fr. Marty Kurylowicz
Nothing in life is more precious than the intimate relationships we have with love ones. Healthy love relationships delight us give us confidence to take on challenges and support us in difficult times…

However, it is this type of authoritarian parental severity used to repressed a child's sexual orientation that then leads to adult distorted sexual behavior - and often, as research has found, to violent attacks committed against gay people, as so clearly demonstrated by the harsh antigay tactics used throughout the Synod 2015. Photo
Anti-gay Bias Linked to Lack of Awareness of One's Sexual Orientation and Authoritarian Parenting, Study Shows Photo
Homophobia is more pronounced in individuals with an unacknowledged attraction to the same sex and who grew up with authoritarian parents who forbade such desires, a series of psychology studies demonstrates.
The study is the first to document the role that both parenting and sexual orientation play in the formation of intense and visceral fear of homosexuals, including self-reported homophobic attitudes, discriminatory bias, implicit hostility towards gays, and endorsement of anti-gay policies. Conducted by a team from the University of Rochester, the University of Essex, England, and the University of California in Santa Barbara, the research will be published the April issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
"Individuals who identify as straight but in psychological tests show a strong attraction to the same sex may be threatened by gays and lesbians because homosexuals remind them of similar tendencies within themselves," explains Netta Weinstein, a lecturer at the University of Essex and the study's lead author.
"In many cases these are people who are at war with themselves and they are turning this internal conflict outward," adds co-author Richard Ryan, professor of psychology at the University of Rochester who helped direct the research…
The findings may help to explain the personal dynamics behind some bullying and hate crimes directed at gays and lesbians, the authors argue. Media coverage of gay-related hate crimes suggests that attackers often perceive some level of threat from homosexuals. People in denial about their sexual orientation may lash out because gay targets threaten and bring this internal conflict to the forefront, the authors write.
The research also sheds light on high profile cases in which anti-gay public figures are caught engaging in same-sex sexual acts. The authors write that this dynamic of inner conflict may be reflected in such examples as Ted Haggard, the evangelical preacher who opposed gay marriage but was exposed in a gay sex scandal in 2006, and Glenn Murphy, Jr., former chairman of the Young Republican National Federation and vocal opponent of gay marriage, who was accused of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old man in 2007.
"We laugh at or make fun of such blatant hypocrisy, but in a real way, these people may often themselves be victims of repression and experience exaggerated feelings of threat," says Ryan. "Homophobia is not a laughing matter. It can sometimes have tragic consequences," Ryan says, pointing to cases such as the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard or the 2011 shooting of Larry King… Photo
Across all the studies, participants with supportive and accepting parents were more in touch with their implicit sexual orientation, while participants from authoritarian homes revealed the most discrepancy between explicit and implicit attraction.
"In a predominately heterosexual society, 'know thyself' can be a challenge for many gay individuals. But in controlling and homophobic homes, embracing a minority sexual orientation can be terrifying," explains Weinstein. These individuals risk losing the love and approval of their parents if they admit to same sex attractions, so many people deny or repress that part of themselves, she said…

Projection - Repressed Homosexual Feelings
When an internal impulse provokes too much anxiety, the ego may reduce that anxiety by attributing the unwanted impulse to an external object, usually another person. This is the defense mechanism of projection, which can be defined as seeing in others unacceptable feelings or tendencies that actually reside in one’s own unconscious (Freud, 1915/1957b). For example, a man may consistently interpret the actions of older women as attempted seductions. Consciously, the thought of sexual intercourse with older women may be intensely repugnant to him, but buried in his unconscious is a strong erotic attraction to these women. In this example, the young man deludes himself into believing that he has no sexual feelings for older women. Although this projection erases most of his anxiety and guilt, it permits him to maintain a sexual interest in women who remind him of his mother.
An extreme type of projection is paranoia, a mental disorder characterized by powerful delusions of jealousy and persecution. Paranoia is not an inevitable out- come of projection but simply a severe variety of it. According to Freud (1922/1955), a crucial distinction between projection and paranoia is that paranoia is always characterized by repressed homosexual feelings toward the persecutor. Freud believed that the persecutor is inevitably a former friend of the same sex, although sometimes people may transfer their delusions onto a person of the opposite sex. When homosexual impulses become too powerful, persecuted paranoiacs defend themselves by reversing these feelings and then projecting them onto their original object. For men, the transformation proceeds as follows. Instead of saying, “I love him,” the paranoid person says, “I hate him.” Because this also produces too much anxiety, he says, “He hates me.” At this point, the person has disclaimed all responsibility and can say, “I like him fine, but he’s got it in for me.” The central mechanism in all paranoia is projection with accompanying delusions of jealousy and persecution…

Are conservatives at high-stakes Vatican summit overplaying their hand? - October 16, 2015
VATICAN CITY (RNS) Ever since a Vatican summit last year raised the possibility of making the church more open to those whose family lives may not mirror the Catholic ideal, conservative foes have been in uproar, waging an intense campaign to block any reforms from being adopted.
Yet as a follow-up meeting this month has progressed, the enthusiasm of the traditionalists could be overwhelming their tactical judgment — annoying and even angering enough of their fellow bishops they may have weakened what was once considered a strong position.
Still, the conservatives may also have created enough disarray and disagreement to ice any significant moves toward change, or taint any proposals they may offer to Pope Francis when the meeting, called a synod, concludes on Oct. 25 after three intense weeks.
The most public, and, for the conservatives, embarrassing episode came earlier this week with the leak of a private letter to the pope from 13 cardinals opposed to reforms.
In the letter, the senior churchmen complained that Francis had set up this meeting of 270 bishops from around the world in a way that would favor reformers who want, for example, to adopt a new approach to gays and lesbians or find a way that divorced and remarried Catholics could receive Communion…

At either end of this possible continuum - there is a distortion of the reality of homosexuality to the extreme. And this is definitely caused in early childhood years by the influence of antigay social and religious norms that seriously disrupt the emotional developmental process of learning how to be loved and to love and feel one with another - on a number of different levels. And how this disruption is played out in adulthood is visibly displayed throughout the Vatican.
Another, common denominator among the homosexual clerics associated with the Vatican is that it is closeted. Being closeted repressed or being closeted uninhibited are both connected to lifelong harmful effects caused in early childhood. The one person, in the Vatican, who stood up - out of the closet, Monsignor Krzysztof Charamsa, was truly a honest and mentally healthy individual, who came to terms with the reality of his sexuality - and this one the Vatican threw out faster than lightning (http://americamagazine.org/content/dispatches/vatican-dismisses-official-declaring-hes-gay-and-has-partner-eve-synod). The manner of his removal is more revealing about the overall unhealthiness and the degree of the severity of the repressed homosexuals that exists among the members of the curia. Living one’s life in a closet - can never be a good thing, for anyone’s sense of well-being, in addition, it also makes one easy prey to be exploited.
“Becoming Gay” answers those whose approach to homosexuality is summed up in the phrase “don’t ask, don’t tell.” Isay argues that a closeted life is psychologically unhealthy. Instead, he offers gay men a model for achieving a positive gay identity. His most recent book, Commitment and Healing, is the capstone to Isay’s nearly 30 years of treating gay men. He’s convinced that while sustaining committed relationships is difficult for all couples, gay men find it especially so.
Too many gay men have given up on the idea that sustained intimacy is either possible or desirable, Isay argues. He is skeptical of the claims made by many gay men that long-term committed relationships are restrictive and “undemocratic.” These are the justifications, he argues, “of men whose history of parental and social rejection has made it especially difficult for them to develop trust that their needs will be met.”…
Show me one Church document or Church teaching that approves of slowly and continuously torturing children for life - beginning in their early childhood years! And then tell me how the Vatican's teachings on homosexuality have any substantiation! How many more live examples of the lifelong harmful effects caused by the Vatican teachings on homosexuality do you need? The Vatican has all the extremes examples and everything in between - of these lifelong harmful effects being played out in real time. The two sessions of the Synod on Family 2014 and 2015 has outed practical the majority of the members of the curia and hierarchy, except for those who were willing to openly discuss the issues of being welcoming of gay people and valuing gay loving committed relationships. And because I am concerned about the protection of children - in a way that would have prevented the lifelong suffering that the majority of the members of the curia and hierarchy are experiencing and - I am to be removed from the priesthood?!? PAZZO!!! Now, who needs to see a shrink? KIDS ARE BEING HURT!!!

Pope tells Roman Curia to "return to the essentials” - December 21, 2015
…3. Spirituality and humanity: spirituality is the backbone of all service in the Church and in the Christian life. It is what nourishes all our activity, sustaining and protecting it from human frailty and daily temptation. Humanity is what embodies the truthfulness of our faith; those who renounce their humanity renounce everything. Humanity is what makes us different from machines and robots which feel nothing and are never moved. Once we find it hard to weep seriously or to laugh heartily, we have begun our decline and the process of turning from “humans” into something else. Humanity is knowing how to show tenderness and fidelity and courtesy to all (cf. Phil 4:5). Spirituality and humanity, while innate qualities, are a potential needing to be activated fully, attained completely and demonstrated daily.
4. Example and fidelity: Blessed Paul VI reminded the Curia of “its calling to set an example”. An example of avoiding scandals which harm souls and impair the credibility of our witness. Fidelity to our consecration, to our vocation, always mindful of the words of Christ, “Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and whoever is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much” (Lk 16:10) and “If any of you put a stumbling block before one of these little ones who believe in me, it would be better for you if a great millstone were fastened around your neck and you were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world for stumbling blocks! Occasions for stumbling are bound to come, but woe to the one by whom the stumbling block comes” (Mt 18:6-7)…
..let us savour the magnificent prayer, commonly attributed to Blessed Oscar Arnulfo Romero, but pronounced for the first time by
Every now and then it helps us to take a step back
and to see things from a distance.
The Kingdom is not only beyond our efforts, it is also beyond our visions.
In our lives, we manage to achieve only a small part

which is to say that the Kingdom is greater than ourselves…
and to see things from a distance.

Christmas Midnight Mass
Homily of Pope Francis
24 December 2015
Tonight “a great light” shines forth (Is 9:1); the light of Jesus’ birth shines all about us. How true and timely are the words of the prophet Isaiah which we have just heard: “You have brought abundant joy and great rejoicing” (9:2)! Our heart was already joyful in awaiting this moment; now that joy abounds and overflows, for the promise has been at last fulfilled. Joy and gladness are a sure sign that the message contained in the mystery of this night is truly from God. There is no room for doubt; let us leave that to the sceptics who, by looking to reason alone, never find the truth. There is no room for the indifference which reigns in the hearts of those unable to love for fear of losing something. All sadness has been banished, for the Child Jesus brings true comfort to every heart…

Overcome indifference and win peace: 2016 Peace Day Message - Pope Francis - Dec 15, 2015
...Kinds of indifference
3. Clearly, indifference is not something new; every period of history has known people who close their hearts to the needs of others, who close their eyes to what is happening around them, who turn aside to avoid encountering other people's problems. But in our day, indifference has ceased to be a purely personal matter and has taken on broader dimensions, producing a certain “globalization of indifference”.
The first kind of indifference in human society is indifference to God, which then leads to indifference to one’s neighbour and to the environment. This is one of the grave consequences of a false humanism and practical materialism allied to relativism and nihilism. We have come to to think that we are the source and creator of ourselves, our lives and society. We feel self-sufficient, prepared not only to find a substitute for God but to do completely without him. As a consequence, we feel that we owe nothing to anyone but ourselves, and we claim only rights…
In other cases, indifference shows itself in lack of concern for what is happening around us, especially if it does not touch us directly. Some people prefer not to ask questions or seek answers; they lead lives of comfort, deaf to the cry of those who suffer. Almost imperceptibly, we grow incapable of feeling compassion for others and for their problems; we have no interest in caring for them, as if their troubles were their own responsibility, and none of our business.[9] “When we are healthy and comfortable, we forget about others (something God the Father never does): we are unconcerned with their problems, their sufferings and the injustices they endure... Our heart grows cold. As long as I am relatively healthy and comfortable, I don’t think about those less well off.”[10]

God forbid that we should do something that is courageously proactive in way of the protection and well-being of children!!! God forbid that for once we should error in the way of charity - instead of - in the way of negligence, especially regarding children. What would the news media be like “The Catholic Church foolishly renounced all the Vatican’s teachings on homosexuality for the safety and well-being of all children globally.” The real damage to the Church - were the decades of the bishops’ child sexual abuse cover-ups, orchestrated by members of the curia. Children were not protected. WE need not continue to follow this pattern of negligence in caring for children. Where we go once the Vatican’s teachings on homosexuality are renounced - I really do not know. I only know that our first, foremost - priority is to make sure that the lives of all children are safe. To find out what we do next - I would have followed a process that is exactly what Pope Francis has been doing. I would seek advice and input from everyone. Photo

Part 1 - Ghosts in the - Synod of Bishops on Family - October 2014 - Repress Unacknowledged Need for Empathy?
Pope Francis, along with his entourage of diverse colleagues and experts had the right idea to first gather information from everyone around the world to be used as the foundation for the 2 sessions of the Synod on Family 2014, and 2015. This process involved removing homosexuality from the closet and then to openly discuss every facet of homosexuality, in the daylight. Supposedly, in good faith, free from all the ruthless vindictive retaliation tactics used over the past 30 years. Pope Francis more than one time, at the start of the Synod 2014, instructed the participants to speak freely and boldly without fear and to listen with humility.
Pope calls synod to speak 'boldly,' cardinal defends current teachings - Oct. 6, 2014
VATICAN CITY Pope Francis opened discussions at his worldwide meeting of Catholic bishops Monday by telling the prelates they should speak openly, without fear of upsetting him or limiting discussions to things he would want to hear…
"A general condition is this," said the pope. "Speak clearly. Let no one say: 'This you cannot say.’”…

Pope Francis Calls for Candor at Meeting on Family Issues - Oct. 6, 2014
VATICAN CITY — Setting the tone for a two-week meeting of Roman Catholic bishops, Pope Francis on Monday urged participants to speak openly and clearly, without fear of censure. He also called on the participants to listen to each other with humility and to respect differing opinions.
“Do not say: I cannot say this, if I do they will think badly of me. Speak freely of everything you believe,” Francis instructed the nearly 200 prelates assembled in the Vatican for the synod, which will chart the church’s course regarding family life in contemporary society.
“It is necessary to say everything that in the Lord we feel must be said,” without any concern that it might contradict the pope, he said. Holding back discussion “is not good,” Francis added, even as he exhorted the participants to “listen with humility and accept with an open heart all that our brothers say.”…

Pope Francis wanted open debate. With clashing cardinals, he’s got it - Oct. 2, 2014
…“Everybody is free to express his opinion…
“The pope wanted an open debate, and I think that is something new because up to now often there was not such an open debate. I think that’s healthy and it helps the church very much.”
Since his election in March last year, the pope has repeatedly said that the church needs to be more collegial and transparent. “Fraternal and open discussion help develop theological and pastoral thinking,” Francis has said. “I’m not afraid of this. On the contrary, I seek it.”…

The midterm report of the Synod 2014 - was exceptional - a phenomenal start, in the direction of protecting children. It far surpassed anyone’s wildest expectations that the Vatican could be so outright courageous of expressing the possibility of being more accepting in welcoming gay people and even to think of valuing gay loving committed relationships, in the way that God loves us all. It touched so deeply - the hearts and souls of millions and has not been forgotten.
Psychologically, I wish that there was a way to measure the amount of good will, on so many different levels that it had on people. Most importantly, what healing effect it may have had on people, who have thought, because of the way the world has so cruelly treated them, began to believe that even God has given up on them. It was a slice of heaven - because in some small way it was a statement that everyone matters in the world. Photo

A new command I give you: Love one another.
As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples,
if you love one another.
John 13:34-35
It was similar to the effect that subtly happened - shortly after Pope Francis was elected to the papacy - and the world slowly learned of his decades of service to the poor. At the age of 76 - you either did or did not care for the poor. It was understood that he did not do it for show and that in some way - it was again an implicit statement that everyone matters in the world. No one should ever be forgotten. These phenomenal situations of simply plain acts of human respect and kindness - have a contagious effect, because there is nothing like being a part of something greater than one’s self that not only is renewing to the individual but for everyone else, as well. There seems to have been a few events that followed later that appeared to mirror the same kind of courageous acts of love. Photo
change and become like little children,

Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this

And whoever welcomes one such child in
my name welcomes me.

Though, regrettably this exceptionally phenomenal start - at the Synod 2014 and on through the second session 2015 was derailed. But even this derailment is of great significance, because it flushed out, and exposed - the degree of violence that exists among the repressed homosexual members of the curia and hierarchy. They were allowed for far too long - to hide behind the shield of the curial bureaucratic anonymity free for decades - from any accountability for their use of unethical and immoral tactics, such as those used throughout the Synod 2015. And this is how the corruption was allowed to grow in the Vatican. But in no way - should this derailment that succeeded in preventing the continuation of the open debate on welcoming gay people and valuing gay loving committed relationships to - be considered - as if it is God’s direction for the Church. This is because it was the violent use of tactics to prevent, to block any open discussion on homosexuality, and this is not the love of God.
Pope Francis 2010s - - Hoodwinked - - Hunthausen 1980s
Perspective Shift
The way that the proceedings of the Synod 2015 were disrupted had one and only one object, as has been the situation for the last 30 years and that is to suppress any and all open discussion on homosexuality. However, as was the case at the Synod 2014 - those involved are no longer protected by the shield of crural bureaucratic anonymity and again seem completely oblivious that they were revealing way more than they intended. Their footsteps are evident. And these footsteps are unmasking their involvement in this same form of vindictive treatment that has been used against tens of thousand of people for the past 30 years.
Still - Absolutely No Accountability
And they remain having absolutely no accountability for the devastation they have caused, the lives they have destroyed and are still causing. We can, now, see that without any accountability - for the past 30 years - the level that this form of corruption has reached. This corruption and use of violence is solely targeted, as it has been for the last 30 years, at silencing and removing anyone who openly discusses the emerging science on homosexuality or the alternative scriptural interruptions on homosexuality or the resulting theological implications. It has now - reached the level of attacking and threatening the members of the curia and hierarchy, including Pope Francis participating in the Synod 2015. This crural form of corruption and use of violence - has been excessively rampant over the past 30 years, because the members of the curia and hierarchy who are responsible - have been protected behind the shield of bureaucratic anonymity and have absolutely never had to face the consequences for their criminal activity. Even now they are getting away with murder, a structural violence form of murder of millions (http://u.osu.edu/christie/files/2014/10/Section-II-Structural-Violence-Winter-Leighton-28aggie.pdf) (http://u.osu.edu/christie/about/peace-conflict-and-violence-peace-psychology-for-the-21st-century/).
Hunthausen - Kurylowicz - Pope Francis
The strategies that they used to disrupt the proceedings of the Synod 2015 and the efforts to destroy Pope Francis’ credibility are exactly the same old strategies of manipulation used against Archbishop Hunthausen in the 1980s, and as used against me, for the past 18 years, since I came out for the protection of children 1997. Again, the use of these strategies by members of the curia and hierarchy - are always related to silencing, removing or destroying a person’s credibility who openly discusses the subject of homosexuality. Photo
“Perspective Shift” is one particular strategy that appears to be common used among the three of us. The strategy of shifting the perspective is related to the tension of how words are used and their meaning as applied to a specific conceptional framework to a question. It limits discussion and perception to a specific framework and missing the broader fully meaning of what is being presented as an issue.
It is shifting the perspective - the focus of a situation completely off the real issue being presented and onto “one particular set of strictly intraecclesial perspectives” - it absolutely refuses to consider (tone-deaf) the complete essence of the a situation being presented. Hunthausen was being investigated by the CDF among others issues for his pastoral outreach to gay people. With Hunthausen the discussion with Ratzinger, head of the CDF, refused to hear any pastoral explanation from Hunthausen. This curt exchange between the two men has been recounted in a resent book by John McCoy, May 10, 2015, a brief excerpt is given below. The manner in which Hunthausen was treated by the curial staff member of the CDF was sharply rebuked by Archbishop Weakland and other bishops at the time in November 1986.
Perspective Shift…tries to frame the discussion of Hunthausen’s leadership within one particular set of strictly intraecclesial perspectives (the perspectives of the “human sciences” are excluded), Hunthausen invites his audience to (re)consider the same question according to the perspective of the Church “come of age” in the world. Hunthausen also seeks a perspective shift when he asks his hearers to evaluate the “justice” of Church procedures according to the standards of civil law…
Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger's Report Issued on Seattle Archbishop Raymond Hunthausen - September 30, 1985
… A final question of pastoral practice pertains to ministry to homosexual men and women. The Archdiocese should withdraw all support from any group, which does not unequivocally accept the teaching of the Magisterium concerning the intrinsic evil of homosexual activity. This teaching has been set forth in this Congregation's Declaration on Sexual Ethics and more recently in the document, Educational Guidance in Human Love, issued by the Congregation for Catholic Education in 1983. The ill-advised welcome of a pro-homosexual group to your cathedral, as well as events subsequent to the Apostolic Visitation, have served to make the Church's position appear to be ambiguous on this delicate but important issue. A compassionate ministry to homosexual persons must be developed that has as its clear goal the promotion of a chaste lifestyle. Particular care is to be exercised by any who represent the Archdiocese, to explain clearly the position of the Church on this question…

“A Still and Quiet Conscience: The Archbishop Who Challenged a Pope, a President and a Church
by John McCoy - book - May 10, 2015
…Cardinal Josef Ratzinger rebukes Hunthausen for allowing the gay Catholic group Dignity to use St. James Cathedral. The Seattle archbishop replies by evoking John 8:11 in which the Pharisees bring to Jesus a woman caught in adultery and demand that she be stoned to death. Fireworks follow:
“Hunthausen was recounting the Gospel story when Ratzinger, his voice full of wrath, interrupted him. ‘Are you presuming to lecture me?'” he demanded.
“The archbishop paused, caught his breath and quietly continued. In regard to Dignity, he explained, ‘I tried to do what I thought Jesus would do. Jesus didn’t wait until people changed before he talked to them. He began a dialogue and I think that’s what they church ought to do with the gay community.’
“Infuriated, Ratzinger silenced him again. ‘Don’t preach to me,'” he said…

Archbishop Asks Rome To Ease Up - September 28, 1986
MILWAUKEE — Rembert George Weakland long has been regarded by his peers as the brightest member of the hierarchy in the American Roman Catholic Church...has politely but forthrightly told the Vatican to, in effect, soften its drive to coerce doctrinal uniformity by punishing dissenters.
He asserted that Draconian measures used throughout Christian history to silence those who challenge traditional church teaching have resulted in “much cruelty, suppression of theological creativity and lack of growth…”
Bishop Thomas J. Gumbleton of Detroit predicted that the “cruel (and) demeaning” treatment of Archbishop Hunthausen would effectively “intimidate” his fellow prelates…
…in his columns, titled “The Price of Orthodoxy,” Archbishop Weakland appeared to be directing his remarks to Vatican inquisitors.
He contended that previous efforts to monitor and safeguard Catholic doctrine have been undertaken in an atmosphere where “amateurs-turned-theologians easily became headhunters and leaders were picked (on the basis of) the rigidity of their doctrine, so that often second-rate and repressive minds, riding on the waves of fear, took over.
“Religion under such circumstances then can become an ideology that tolerates no obstacle and that values ideas more than people…”

“Justice”
It is quite interesting that my situation also, deals with the issues of “justice” that is non-existent in the Vatican in comparison the the “procedures according to the standards of civil law.” This is also related to the fact that there is no accountability of the members of the curia - during the 1980s with Hunthausen and even less with my situation from 1997 to the present. And I believe as Pope Francis has experienced the same - regarding the criminal activity by likely the same members of the curia and hierarchy who disrupted the Synod proceedings and made attacks against his credibility. They are the same, who are attempting remove me from the priesthood without cause, any cause. In addition, they are attempting to remove me without making justified reparation for the irreparable harm they have caused to my reputation and credibility, in the same way that they attacked Pope Francis’s credibility by leaking false rumors that he has a brain tumor.
This inhuman treatment is also, a major part of the decades of entrenched corruption that has existed in the curia - harming millions of lives. However, it does provide first hand documentation for my immediate appeal, including that justified reparation being made directly by the Vatican. How many people in the Church before me have been treated as inhumanly - excluded from the system of justice that the rest of humanity has access to? This complete absence of justice is - a reenactment of the way the Nazis treated the people they arbitrary deemed as subhumans that allowed them to commit the atrocities that by the end to World War II led to the deaths of 70 million people.
Thinking sets the agenda for action, and thinking of humans as less than human paves the way for atrocity. The Nazis were explicit about the status of their victims. They were Untermenschen — subhumans — and as such were excluded from the system of moral rights and obligations that bind humankind together. It's wrong to kill a person, but permissible to exterminate a rat. To the Nazis, all the Jews, Gypsies and others were rats: dangerous, disease-carrying rats…

Experts to Bishops: Gay Priests Not the Problem
Nov 18, 2009
John Jay College of Criminal Justice - 5-Year Study by American Bishops – Roman Catholic Church Sex Abuse Cases - May 18, 2011
...Since the scandal broke, conservatives in the church have blamed gay priests for perpetrating the abuse...
The report notes that homosexual men began entering the seminaries “in noticeable numbers” from the late 1970s through the 1980s. By the time this cohort entered the priesthood, in the mid-1980s, the reports of sexual abuse of minors by priests began to drop and then to level off. If anything, the report says, the abuse decreased as more gay priests began serving the church…

A report prepared by researchers from New York’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice on the abuse of children by Catholic priests in the United States between 1950 and 2000 offers a complex portrait of the “causes and context” behind decades of sexual abuse and the sometimes ineffective or even negligent response of U.S. bishops to the problem. Bishop Blase Cupich of Spokane, Wash., and Chair of the U.S. bishops’ Committee for the Protection of Children and Young People, said the exhaustive study, five years in the making, offers an explanation, but not an excuse for the abuse scandal that first engulfed the United States before surfacing throughout the global church…
Karen Terry, dean of research at John Jay and principal investigator for the study, told reporters at a press conference in Washington, D.C. on May 18: “There is no single cause of the sexual abuse crisis…
The study sweeps away the suspicion that an influx of homosexual men into the priesthood helped propel the crisis. The researchers pointed out that reports of abuse began an abrupt decline even as more gay men became priests… Photo

Will this distinction also lead him to move against bishops who cover up sexual abuse by transferring priests from one parish to another? If he does, that will signal an even more significant shift… Photo

Pope Francis Delivers 'Gossiping Is Like Terrorism' Speech In Vatican City - September 4, 2015 Photo
VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis on Friday likened a person who gossips to “a terrorist who throws a bomb,” telling his followers that sowing divisions is a sickness within the Catholic Church.
Speaking during his homily at his Santa Marta residence, Francis criticized people who think gossip is harmless.
“Gossiping is like terrorism because the person who gossips is like a terrorist who throws a bomb and runs away, destroying,” he said. “With their tongue they are destroying and not making peace.”…

Such research, could begin to help us to understand the nature - in how and in what ways gay adult pornography differs from adult heterosexual pornography. Adult heterosexual sexual behavior that is not overt, but is benign, such as, public expressions of affection and love for another human being, a simple kiss, holding hands, embracing are ubiquitously displayed endlessly throughout every aspect of society, i.e. in love songs, operas, movies, advertisements, etc. Photo
However, for gay people, these same benign public expressions of affection and love are completely absent in society. Largely, because signs of affection, especially, between two gay males, evoke such hostile reactions from disgust to, as documented, to outright violence, to torture even to death by supposedly heterosexual male onlookers. How, why - on earth would simple expressions of love between two men - evoke in some other men, who claim to be straight - the absolute opposite expression of love - to become to mercilessly want to annihilate another human being(s)?
Burke’s Ruthless - Gay Sexual Repression
Genocide
Instead, these same harmless benign public expressions of love by gay couples have more often invoked intense violence even grounds deserving of the death penalty. But what is most reprehensible is that such unconscionable inhuman, cold-blooded violence directed against gay human beings continues to be ruthlessly fueled by Cardinal Burke’s public statements, such as, referring to gay couples as murders, and most recently his orchestration of Italy's fifth annual National March for Life, on May 10, 2015. Christians are killed “in the name of God.”
Public Obliteration of Any Visual Representation of Gay Couples
This kind of obliteration of any visual public representation of the natural and normal expression of affection and love of gay couples is a severe form of collective homosexual sexual repression promoting violence against human beings, a genocide.
It not only (1) fuels violence against gay people, at the same time fuels the (2) viewing of gay adult pornography, including making it the only source that (3) validates the reality and existence of adult gay people, admittedly not the best source, nonetheless the only source. And who is the blame for this? Those who chose to (a) remain ignorant (vincible ignorance) and those who (b) enforced the ignorance of homosexual sexual orientation i.e. Cardinal Burke. Together, they form a group on the basis of their unquestionable willful ignorance of homosexual sexual orientation an extreme form of gay sexual repression - reinforced by their intense self-righteous attitude that perpetuates their collective blindness - causing the atrocities of structural violence … Photo

The hippos, kangaroos and penguins adorning the cover of Piccolo Uovo (Little Egg) give little hint of the political and religious storm the children’s book has caused. While following the adventures of an egg may seem harmless enough, its discovery of different family types – including same sex – has prompted a backlash by conservatives who accuse Italian author Francesca Pardi of promoting a pro-homosexuality gender theory.
In the book, the egg encounters a pair of gay penguins, lesbian rabbits successfully bringing up a family, as well as other family models, including a single parent hippo, a mixed race dog couple, and kangaroos that have adopted polar bear cubs… Photo
Now Pardi has found an unlikely supporter in Pope Francis, who through his staff has written to the author praising her work. “His holiness is grateful for the thoughtful gesture and for the feelings which it evoked, hoping for an always more fruitful activity in the service of young generations and the spread of genuine human and Christian values,” wrote Peter B Wells, a senior official at the Vatican secretariat of state…

Catholic bishops find pornography more important than poverty - December 4, 2015
Pope Francis’ emphasis has been on “a poor church for the poor” and the church as a “field hospital.” But the agenda of the American bishops at their annual meeting in Baltimore last month was business as usual, with a focus on abortion, same-sex marriage, religious liberty and, especially, pornography.
The bishops labored over a document highlighting the evils of pornography and went into great detail about erotic stimulation, orgasm and masturbation, reminding us, as some of them do on a regular basis, that masturbation is always gravely evil. Because the church has repeatedly condemned pornography, it is not clear why the bishops put so much effort into this policy paper at this time.
What is clear is that a majority of U.S. Catholic bishops continue to be obsessed with things sexual and continue to ignore the pope’s exhortation to instead focus on issues relating to charity and justice. Thomas Reese, reporting on the bishops’ meeting for National Catholic Reporter, wrote, “Francis wants a pastoral church, preaching a Gospel-based message of love, compassion and justice — not a nagging church wagging its finger at people.”
San Diego Bishop Robert McElroy, a native San Franciscan, has embraced the pope’s message and took his best shot at the bishops’ meeting to integrate Francis’ values into the deliberations on the bishops’ document regarding conscience and voting. Each election cycle, the bishops have issued a paper called “Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship,” which hasn’t been revised since 2007, and was only lightly revised for this 2015 meeting. The document, offered as a guide for Catholic voters, focuses on abortion and euthanasia and repeatedly references same-sex marriage. McElroy eloquently argued that the document was basically flawed in that it does not account for the impact of Francis prioritizing Catholic social teaching…

“If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?” Francis told reporters, speaking in Italian but using the English word “gay.”… Photo
“So much is written about the gay lobby. I have yet to find on a Vatican identity card the word ‘gay,’ ” Francis said, chuckling. “They say there are some gay people here. I think that when we encounter a gay person, we must make the distinction between the fact of a person being gay and the fact of a lobby, because lobbies are not good.”
An article in the Italian weekly L’Espresso this month alleged that one of the advisers that Francis had appointed to look into the Vatican Bank, Msgr. Battista Ricca, had been accused of having gay trysts when he was a Vatican diplomat in Uruguay. The pope told reporters that nothing in the documentation he had seen substantiated the reports.
He added that such a lobby would be an issue, but that he did not have anything against gay people and that their sins should be forgiven like those of all Catholics. Francis said that homosexuals should be treated with dignity, and that no one should be subjected to blackmail or pressure because of sexual orientation. Photo
“The problem isn’t having this orientation. The problem is making a lobby,” he said...

Pope Francis was in his element when he opened the ‘Door of Charity’ for the poor - December 19, 2015
ROME — Years from now, records will show that the special jubilee Year of Mercy decreed by Pope Francis began on Dec. 8, 2015, the feast of the Immaculate Conception. If you ask the pontiff himself, however, he’d probably tell you it really got underway on Friday.
That afternoon, Francis headed across town to visit a hostel for the homeless run by Caritas, the main diocesan charity in Rome, in order to open a “holy door of charity.” In a sense, it was the natural follow-up to what happened on Dec. 8, when Francis threw open an ornate door to St. Peter’s Basilica that’s otherwise bricked up when jubilees aren’t underway.
That gesture traditionally is how jubilee years commence, but Friday’s rite was a novelty — a pontiff opening a door not to a church, where spiritual indulgences are on offer, but rather a charity center, where the “grace” dispensed is more tangible and this-worldly…

A new command I give you: Love one another.
As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples,
if you love one another.
John 13:34-35
Any attempt to save face in a sense of collegiality among the members of curia and hierarchy - by discrediting even in the slightest the person with the protocol number 20131723/F or refusing proper restitution - for the harm inflicted upon me by the Vatican - with all due respect, if you will pardon the expression - you can kiss your ass - Good-by!
I say this in no way to protect myself - because the issue is not about me it is about truth and children - all children globally. The only thing I can be accused of - is resisting risking my life - in standing up for children, by “coming out.” And isn't that the very core of what it means to be a priest that we willingly sacrifice our lives for others, most especially for children! Or did you become a priest so that you could wear a dress! I willingly admit - I tried to get out of what I knew I had to do, however, now - it has been passed on to you. Photo
I will explain, as I have written to many US politicians, how I handled this situation:
WELL-INFORMED CONSCIENCE
Protect Religious Freedom - but not
Tyranny in Religion
June 20, 2011
The way to begin for us all, not only the NY State Senators, to protect Religious Freedom and not Tyranny in Religion is by obtaining a well-informed conscience. We start by individually approaching and studying in great detail, because it involves the lives of children, from the best and the brightest (1) scripture scholars regarding the references related to homosexuality and (2) scientists in the field of study of human sexuality, in particular, but [not] limited to, the onset of sexual orientation. The prerequisite to the formation of a well-informed conscience is making a thorough study of all sides of the issue from all available authoritative data and research, including opposing views. Then in this way we are better equipped to decide who and what needs government protection in regards to the gay marriage bill. This exhaustive procedure follows to the letter the Gospel quotation about the “plank” and the” speck.”
How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
Luke 6:42
The “plank” for us is ignorance. If we satisfactorily resolve this ignorance, then together we will be able to see more clearly, whether or not, as NY State Senators (government officials) and as citizens we are colluding with the Catholic Hierarchy and are harming children, as was found to be the case in the Ireland Murphy Report.
…This piece of legislation the gay marriage bill is not like any other in that it involves the well-being of children, at its very root…
How I resolved this situation was through hours upon hours of continuous prayer. Afterwards, I came to the realization that my life had already been altered – changed forever. Because there was no way I could pretend I did not know what I knew, how severely children are harmed for life by the Vatican unsubstantiated antigay teachings and antigay social norms. I decided that I could not live with the regret knowing that I had a chance to make a profound difference for the better for others, most especially children and that I did nothing. My life would be nothing. I took the bungee jump and I came out to my parishioners. It definitely was not easy, but one thing that happened to me is - I gained a real sense of peace and well-being that has remained constant and unshaken. The scripture passages that kept repeating over and over in my head were:
For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.
Matthew 16:25

Overcome indifference and win peace: 2016 Peace Day Message - Pope Francis - Dec 15, 2015
..Kinds of indifference

October 8, 2005 - Impending rules on gay priests creates Catholic divide
…Rev. Martin Kurylowicz...said...the struggle would be made harder for many others if the Vatican issues new rules that reportedly would ban gays from becoming priests… “Kids as young as 4 or 5 know they're different," said Kurylowicz... "They grow up with this pervasive guilt, which sabotages their growth and motivation." The result is thousands of dollars in therapy to accept their natural orientation, he said, adding, "Does the Vatican want to take that on, like the tobacco industry had to take on for the damage it caused consumers?”...

Note: Bishop Hurley unethically manipulates canon law misrepresenting my situation: by excluding the factual details of the Vatican’s equally unethical punitive sanctions and threats imposed on me for “coming out” for the protection of children in March 1997, e.g. lost of the possibility of future assignments, regular priest salary and educational benefits, to coerce my compliance to be reeducated - to assure my silence in protecting children or to force me to leave the priesthood. Hurley’s dishonest response to the press was meant to destroy my credibility and reputation. Hurley also disclosed the cost of my psychotherapy sessions, a breach of employer employee confidentially. There are No USA civil laws to protect gay priests from such a fatal destructive public attack on my reputation. The same tactic was used, again in 2012, against Vatican Bank, ex-president Tedeschi, who was attempting to increase the transparency of the scandal-ridden Vatican institution. There is “…the publication of a letter from a psychotherapist detailing the mental health of the Vatican's recently ousted bank chief…and appeared aimed at further discrediting and humiliating the Vatican bank's ex-president, Ettore Gotti Tedeschi, once a top papal adviser…”(http://www.businessweek.com/ap/2012-06/D9VBK7581.htm)
Hurley’s deliberate distortion of the facts of my situation was meant to humiliate me publicly, a character assassination against me. This was not just one single isolated character assassination attack made against me. The exact pattern of this character assassination attack, since 2004 to 2014 has been over used by the Vatican under Benedict XVI - against anyone - deemed as a threat to their specific ideology, especially related to gay sexual orientation. On, April 30, 2014, Cardinal Muller of the CDF, issued a forceful public statement against the LCWR leaders that is confusing and irrationally based on a misrepresentation of unsubstantiated facts. Cardinal Burke during and after the Synod on the Family, October 2014 - fiercely demonstrated by his unwillingness to even discuss issues related marriage and gay sexual orientation, the pervasive hostile attitude against homosexuality.

I made an appeal to counteract Bishop Hurley’s manipulation of canon law in order to be able to charge me on a technicality “not returning home” by separating it from the situation that caused it after I came out 1997. Letter gives an extensive accounting of my “coming out” situation of 1997 - not separated from Hurley’s charges against me.
