Just the Facts Highlights Dangers of "Reparative Therapy" - Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network – GLSEN

In 1999, GLSEN created the resource, JUST THE FACTS, which was immediately endorsed by a consortium of national organizations including the American Psychological Association, the National Association of School Psychologists, the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers, among others.

There is renewed interest in this resource following a New York Times article (Gay Teenager Stirs a Storm, July 17, 2005) chronicling the dangerous experience of a young gay student in Memphis at a so-called reparative therapy center inaccurately named "Love In Action". As former teacher and GLSEN Executive Director Kevin Jennings told the New York Times, "All reputable health and education professional organizations have clearly and unequivocally denounced this 'treatment' as quackery. Ignorance about human sexuality is harmful to children.

“Someday, maybe, there will exist a well-informed, well considered and yet fervent public conviction that the most deadly of all possible sins is the mutilation of a child’s spirit.” Erik Erikson

…whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. Matthew 18:6

Protect children and the entire world will be safe.

Important note: No disrespect meant to Pope Benedict XVI or the hierarchy, the one and only concern is the safety and well-being of children.
