On Gay Priests “Who am I to Judge?”
July 29, 2013
Pope Francis
We have to find a new balance; otherwise
even the moral edifice of the church is likely to
FALL LIKE A HOUSE OF CARDS,
losing the freshness and fragrance
of the Gospel.
Pope Francis
SCIENCE can purify religion from error and superstition;
RELIGION can purify science from idolatry and false absolutes.
Each can draw the other into a wider world,
a world in which both can flourish.
For the truth of the matter is that the Church and the scientific community will inevitably interact; their options
DO NOT include ISOLATION.
Pope John Paul II - 1988
…TRUTH is the light that gives meaning and value to CHARITY. That light is both the light of REASON and the light of FAITH, through which the intellect attains to the natural and supernatural truth of charity: it grasps its meaning as GIFT, acceptance, and communion. WITHOUT truth, charity degenerates into SENTIMENTALITY. Love becomes an EMPTY SHELL, to be filled in an ARBITRARY way. In a CULTURE without truth, this is the FATAL risk facing love. It FALLS prey to contingent subjective emotions and opinions, the word “love” is abused and distorted,to the point where it comes to MEAN the opposite. Truth FREES charity from the constraints of an EMOTIONALISM that deprives it of relational and social content, and of a FIDEISM that deprives it of human and universal breathing-space. In the truth, charity reflects the personal yet public dimension of faith in the God of the Bible, who is both Agápe and Lógos: Charity and Truth, Love and Word…
REASON always stands in need of being purified by faith: this also holds true for political reason, which must not consider itself OMNIPOTENT. For its part, RELIGION always needs to be purified by reason in order to show its authentically human face. Any breach in this dialogue comes only at an enormous price to human development…

Vatican reiterates that homosexuals shouldn’t be priests - Dec 7, 2016
…has reiterated that men with “deeply rooted homosexual tendencies” shouldn’t be admitted into Catholic seminaries and, therefore, shouldn’t become Catholic priests…
In fairness - this statement should be stated - that men with “deeply rooted heterosexual tendencies” shouldn’t be admitted into Catholic seminaries and, therefore, shouldn’t become Catholic priests.
However, the statement made in Dec. 2016 - not only speaks to the hypocrisy of the members of the curia and hierarchy of the Congregation for Clergy who authored this baloney, but to all for allowing it to be published without public protest. The statement is not only indirectly an action of voluntary ignorance (resulting from negligence regarding something one should have known) of the science on sexual orientation researched and authoritatively accepted - over the 60 past years but it blatantly reaffirms the entrenched corruption of dissociated homosexual culture existing among the majority of the members of the curia and hierarchy.
In addition - this statement made by the curia and hierarchy - publicly defies the ENCYCLICAL LETTERS - of both Saint Pope John Paul II, FIDES ET RATIO, 1998 and Benedict XVI, CARITAS IN VERITATE, 2007 (curial delayed publication till 2009), including John Paul II letter 1988 to the Reverend George V. Coyne SJ, Director of the Vatican Observatory: - all emphatically stating that science and religion must never be separated - an open and ongoing dialogue must be maintained. Benedict XVI explained that truth shines forth from both the light of faith and the light of reason and that without truth there is no love. Benedict XVI makes the stern warning, as if speaking from experiences of growing up in Nazi Germany, stating “Any breach in this dialogue comes only at an enormous price to human development…”
It is a wonder that lightning didn’t come down and once again - strike the top of Saint Peter’s Basilica, as it did twice just hours after Benedict XVI resigned on February 11, 2013. It is just like - Hitler and the Nazi regime - how they built their edifice of the Third Reich from 1933 to 1945 based on Hitler’s arbitrary and irrational formulation of the pseudoscience of racial purity and presented it in pseudo-religious terminology. It was this false dehumanizing edifice of Nazism that led them to starting WWII and that ended falling, destroying them and much of Germany. By the end of World War II more than 70 million people died, equivalent to “wiping-out” the entire populations of both (a) the state of Michigan with 10 million people and (b) the country of Italy with 60 million people. It is “considered the single most destructive event in human history (Less Than Human - by David Livingstone Smith - The Psychology Of Cruelty - http://www.npr.org/2011/03/29/134956180/criminals-see-their-victims-as-less-than-human).” The Second World War from 1939-to 1945 was a global war. It was the most widespread war in history that involved over 100 million people, activated the total resources (economic, industrial, scientific capabilities) of 30 countries (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II)..
Hitler's Place in History
Professor of Modern History at Sheffield University
Wednesday 27th April 2005
…How, then, should we look upon Hitler’s place in history? Primarily, as the inspiration of the most lethal and destructive war in history, and of the most terrible genocide the world has ever seen. He left behind him not just physical, but also moral, ruination such as history has never previously experienced. He represented an extreme pathology of modern society. He showed us the most radical face of modern inhumanity – how an advanced society can undergo a breathtaking descent into modern barbarity that’s quite without precedent. That’s what, with the passage of time, we can see was historically defining about Hitler. Never before Hitler’s time had we seen so clearly what human beings are capable of…
…we shouldn’t mystify Hitler’s personality. The uniqueness of Nazism can’t be reduced to that strange personality. Another time, another place, and Hitler would have had no impact at all. He couldn’t have derailed a modern society without that society itself making a major contribution to its own fate… We shouldn’t be complacent about the future. New forms of fascism and racial intolerance rightly appal and worry us…
…what we can do is to remind ourselves of the essential point about Hitler: he represented the most fundamental and frontal assault ever launched on all that we associate with humanity and civilisation.

Hitler - Nazis Exploit Social Homosexual Prejudices
1. Woo Conservative Support - Becomes Dictator
2. Silence, Remove, Destroy - Anti-nazi Catholic Priests
Hitler and the Nazi Party exploited the ignorance of the social homosexual prejudices of Germany: first, to woo the political support of the conservative elites to gain dictatorship power through the passing of the Enabling Act, March 1933, and second, to silence, remove and destroy the anti-nazi opposition of the Catholic clergy.
Hitler, after he was appointed Chancellor of Germany, January 30, 1933, to gain the support of the conservative elites he appealed to their intense prejudices against homosexuals, by ordering the police closures of several gay and lesbian bars in Berlin to take place the day before the national elections on March 5, 1933. “In its issue of 4 March 1933, the Berliner Tageblatt (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berliner_Tageblatt) carried an article announcing the police closure of fifteen gay and lesbian bars in Berlin. That was the day before the national elections that led to Hitler’s passing of the Enabling Act, and was one of many measures designed to woo conservatives…(https://www.ushmm.org/m/pdfs/20050726-giles.pdf).”
Though no single party gained the majority of the people’s votes, Hitler, however, did gain the needed support of the conservatives in the Reichstag to vote in favor of passing the Enabling Act (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enabling_Act_of_1933). Hitler achieved opening the last door to becoming the dictator of Germany and his aggressive implementation of the Nazi ideology of racial purity, the irrational goals of racial cleansing as means of the true German people reaching “national salvation” in the future.
Hitler and the Uniqueness of Nazism - Ian Kershaw 2004
…This was no ‘banality of evil’. This was the working of an ideologically-motivated élite coldly prepared to plan for the eradication of 11 million Jews (the figure laid down at the Wannsee Conference of January 1942), and for the ‘resettlement’ to the Siberian wastes, plainly genocidal in intent, of over 30 million, mainly Slavs, over the following 25 years. That, in such a system, they would find countless ‘willing executioners’ prepared to do their bit, whatever the individual motivation of those involved, goes without saying. This was, however, not on account of national character, or some long-existent, specifically German desire to eliminate the Jews. Rather, it was that the idea of racial cleansing, the core of the notion of national salvation, had become, via Hitler’s leadership position, institutionalized in all aspects of organized life in the nazi state. That was decisive.

…Following the Reichstag fire, the Nazis began to suspend civil liberties and eliminate political opposition. The Communists were excluded from the Reichstag. At the March 1933 elections, again no single party secured a majority. Hitler required the vote of the Centre Party and Conservatives in the Reichstag to obtain the powers he desired. He called on Reichstag members to vote for the Enabling Act on 24 March 1933. Hitler was granted plenary powers "temporarily" by the passage of the Act. The law gave him the freedom to act without parliamentary consent and even without constitutional limitations…

…The national community gained its very definition from those who were excluded from it. Racial discrimination was inevitably, therefore, an inbuilt part of the Nazi interpretation of the concept. Since measures directed at creating "racial purity," such as the persecution later of homosexuals, Roma and "a-socials," exploited existing prejudice and were allegedly aimed at strengthening a homogeneous ethnic nation, they buttressed Hitler's image as the embodiment of the national community. Even more so, the relentless denunciation of the nation's alleged powerful enemies -- Bolshevism, western "plutocracy," and most prominently the Jews (linked in propaganda with both) -- reinforced Hitler's appeal as the defender of the nation and bulwark against the threats to its survival, whether external or from within…

Why Bother About Homosexuals? Homophobia and Sexual Politics in Nazi Germany 2002
Geoffrey J. Giles
United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
Why should the Nazis bother about homosexuals? After all, some of the most loyal supporters of the Nazi movement were homosexual, and Hitler refused to condemn the sexual preference of Ernst Röhm, even after it featured prominently in the opposition’s campaign against the Nazis in 1931. Tolerance for homosexuals had increased in Germany during the first three decades of the twentieth century to the extent that an open gay culture flourished in cities such as Berlin in the 1920s, and parliament seemed well on the way to abolishing §175, the clause of the penal code dealing with homosexual offenses. So why bother about them? First, because Nazi opposition to this emancipation sought to appeal to the conservative backlash that the Nazis wished to co-opt. In terms of immediate action when Hitler came to power, there were well-publicized closures of gay bars in big cities…

Luke 12:48
Do you see any similarities with your false arbitrary statements on sexual orientation and the majority of the statements made during the USA presidential campaign last year 2016? You don’t have to speak the truth - why should they? In the past, 30 years who taught whom to lie?
This is the moral edifice of the Church reiterated by the Congregation for Clergy and supported by the curia and hierarchy - that is soon to fall like a house made of cards as Pope Francis stated in his interview:
A Big Heart Open to God - September 30, 2013
...We have to find a new balance; otherwise even the moral edifice of the church is likely to fall like a house of cards, losing the freshness and fragrance of the Gospel. The proposal of the Gospel must be more simple, profound, radiant. It is from this proposition that the moral consequences then flow…
In addition - the Congregation for Clergy statement was made in direct opposition to the statement that Pope Francis made:-
On Gay Priests “Who am I to Judge?”July 29, 2013
ROME — For generations, homosexuality has largely been a taboo topic for the Vatican, ignored altogether or treated as “an intrinsic moral evil,” in the words of the previous pope.
In that context, brief remarks by Pope Francis suggesting that he would not judge priests for their sexual orientation, made aboard the papal airplane on the way back from his first foreign trip, to Brazil, resonated through the church. Never veering from church doctrine opposing homosexuality, Francis did strike a more compassionate tone than that of his predecessors, some of whom had largely avoided even saying the more colloquial “gay.”
“If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?” Francis told reporters, speaking in Italian but using the English word “gay.” …
John Jay Report: On Not Blaming Homosexual Priests - May 17, 2011
…[T]he researchers found no statistical evidence that gay priests were more likely than straight priests to abuse minors—a finding that undermines a favorite talking point of many conservative Catholics. The disproportionate number of adolescent male victims was about opportunity, not preference or pathology, the report states…
What’s more, researchers note that the rise in the number of gay priests from the late 1970s onward actually corresponded with “a decreased incidence of abuse — not an increased incidence of abuse.”
Synod draft furthers ‘welcoming’ tone towards gay people from Pope Francis
October 14, 2014
A year ago, Pope Francis stunned the world by talking about gay men and lesbians and their relationships with the church with unheard-of compassion, respect and openness. But those were just the musings of a new pontiff in a magazine interview. Not the stuff of church policy. That’s why what was said about gay people in the first draft of the document on family by the Synod of Bishops gathering in Rome is being called “an earthquake.”
One sentence — “Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community” — sets the tone from a church hierarchy known for its harsh and negative judgment of gay men and lesbians. There were nods to unions between committed same-sex couples and the children in families with same-sex parents, even though they make a point of saying such unions “cannot be considered on the same footing as matrimony between man and woman.” I found interesting the use of “sexual orientation” instead of the sneering “sexual preference” favored by many of faith who firmly and falsely believe that being gay is a choice. What was more startling about the Synod draft was the word not used at all in relation to homosexuals or homosexuality: sin.
Welcoming homosexual persons
50. Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community: are we capable of welcoming these people, guaranteeing to them a fraternal space in our communities? Often they wish to encounter a Church that offers them a welcoming home. Are our communities capable of providing that, accepting and valuing their sexual orientation, without compromising Catholic doctrine on the family and matrimony?
51. The question of homosexuality leads to a serious reflection on how to elaborate realistic paths of affective growth and human and evangelical maturity integrating the sexual dimension: it appears therefore as an important educative challenge. The Church furthermore affirms that unions between people of the same sex cannot be considered on the same footing as matrimony between man and woman. Nor is it acceptable that pressure be brought to bear on pastors or that international bodies make financial aid dependent on the introduction of regulations inspired by gender ideology.
52. Without denying the moral problems connected to homosexual unions it has to be noted that there are cases in which mutual aid to the point of sacrifice constitutes a precious support in the life of the partners. Furthermore, the Church pays special attention to the children who live with couples of the same sex, emphasizing that the needs and rights of the little ones must always be given priority…
This antigay statement made by the curia members of Congregation for Clergy “The Gift of the Priestly Vocation” not only is it a void of any science or religion - it is shamelessly hypocritical. The Vatican has been riddled incessantly with gay sex scandals of the clergy in - both the curia and hierarchy. Who are you kidding? Just because the majority of the members of curia and hierarchy are in their own la-la state (a fanciful state or dreamworld) of homosexual dissociation - the rest of the world is not and can see through the hypocrisy.

Excerpts:
ROBERT MICKENS, Vatican Correspondent, The Tablet: I came here when I was a seminarian in 1986. And I remember I had this very wide-eyed idea of the Vatican, of these holy cardinals and holy men. And I was shocked within a matter of weeks, months, at the careerism, at the sexual innuendo, the— just the whole kind of non-holy life I hadn't expected.
VATICAN GUIDE: [through interpreter] A large part of the hierarchy is homosexual. Certainly, at the top levels of the church, in the Curia, and many important people, such as bishops and archbishops, are gay…
ROBERT MICKENS: Unless you spend some time inside this kind of culture, it's very hard to believe that it could be like this. One of the biggest problems in the whole hierarchical structure, the clerical structure, is this hypocritical presence of so many homosexuals, gay men, many of whom would not even classify themselves as gay men because they're so conflicted.
NARRATOR: The Benedict doctrine on homosexuality was deeply hurtful to those in the Vatican who were trying to lead celibate lives.
FATHER X: [through interpreter] I cannot understand this schizophrenic attitude of the hierarchy against gay when a lot of priests are gay. That's something that I cannot understand…
NARRATOR: As a gay priest who works in the Vatican, he remembers his feelings when the then Cardinal Ratzinger changed the Catechism to say that homosexuality was an objective disorder.
FATHER X: [through interpreter] It's like a knife in your heart because I believe in vocation. I believe in the calling of God. I believe in Jesus. I believe He want us to serve his people. And when a document say, "Oh, you are not able," that is— that is terrible. It's painful. I hope that one day, priests can be freely in a relationship, and be good priests, that celibacy in the Church will be optional.
ROBERT MICKENS: The "don't ask, don't tell" culture was invented inside the Vatican. And I don't want to villainize everybody in the Vatican because there are a lot of gay men in the Vatican who are very good people, who are celibate, are not having sex, or are struggling to be good priests, but the culture itself mitigates against that. It's difficult to be good in the Vatican.
NARRATOR: The Vatican is a world on its own, an independent state. And this is the guarded frontier that separates it from Italy, whose authorities have no powers here.
Fr. THOMAS DOYLE: The Vatican is the last absolute monarchy in the world today. The Pope, when he's elected, is answerable to no human power. He has absolute authority over the entire Roman Catholic Church, direct authority that reaches down to individual members. He is the supreme judge, the supreme legislator and the supreme executive…

…Not only the street-fighters and beer-hall brawlers in the nazi movement were attracted by the idea of violently-attained national salvation. As much recent research has shown, a new generation of intelligent, middle-class students at German universities in the early 1920s soaked up völkisch ideas, those of extreme racist nationalism, intrinsic to the ideas of national regeneration. In this way, ‘national salvation’ found intellectualized form among groups which would constitute a coming élite, groups whose doctorates in law combined with a rationalized ‘Neue Sachlichkeit’ (or ‘new objectivity’) type of approach to the ‘cleansing’ of the nation: the excision of its ‘life-threatening diseases’…
That ‘national salvation’ involved not just internal regeneration, but a ‘new order’ based on the ethnic cleansing of the entire continent of Europe, also singles out National Socialism from all other forms of fascism. No small part of its uniqueness, in other words, was the combination of racial nationalism and imperialism directed not abroad, but at Europe itself…
It is not just the force in themselves of the ideas of national rebirth that Hitler came to embody, but the fact that they arose in such a highly modern state system, which was decisive for their uniquely destructive quality…
Let us return at this point to Hitler and to the implementation of the politics of national salvation after 1933. I have been suggesting that a modern state system directed by ‘charismatic authority’, based on ideas, frequently used by Hitler, of a ‘mission’ (Sendung) to bring about salvation’ (Rettung) or ‘redemption’ (Erlösung) — all, of course, terms tapping religious or quasi-religious emotions — was unique…
New élites, as has already been suggested, were only too ready to exploit the unheard of opportunities offered to them in the Führer state to build up unimaginable power accretions, free of any legal or administrative shackles. The new ‘technocrats of power’, of the type exemplified by Reinhard Heydrich, combined ideological fanaticism with cold, ruthless, depersonified efficiency and organizational skills. They could find rationality in irrationality; could turn into practical reality the goals associated with Hitler, needing no further legitimitation than recourse to the ‘wish of the Führer’. This was no ‘banality of evil’. That, in such a system, they would find countless ‘willing executioners’ prepared to do their bit, whatever the individual motivation of those involved, goes without saying…it was that the idea of racial cleansing, the core of the notion of national salvation, had become, via Hitler’s leadership position, institutionalized in all aspects of organized life in the nazi state. That was decisive…

A life in writing: Ian Kershaw - 17 August 2011
..How did he make the switch to the Nazis? "It wasn't a road to Damascus," he says, "but it was relatively sudden. I started learning German with a view to studying the history of peasant revolts in later medieval Europe, but as my German improved I became very interested in what was happening in Germany – it was just after the 1968 student revolutions, there was a lot happening and the Nazi period wasn't that far away – and how it was coping with the legacy of the war.
He spent the summer of 1972 on a Goethe Institute scholarship in Munich, and had a chilling encounter with an ex-Nazi that hardened his growing belief that he should abandon his plan to study medieval peasants and concentrate on his own time. "I met this fellow, and he asked me what I was doing there. He said: 'You English, you were so stupid, you should have been in the war with us. We'd have defeated the Bolsheviks and divided the world up between us.' And he said at one point: 'The Jew is a louse.' I was completely shocked by this, and it made me wonder what went on in this little place at that time. That was the trigger, but I was already on the way.”..

I'm incredibly proud of you': praise after pope pops out for new shoes - December 21, 2016
Pope Francis was the toast of social media after successfully completing his latest groundbreaking mission: popping out of the Vatican to buy himself some new footwear.
The 80-year-old pontiff visited a pharmacy near the Holy See on Tuesday to pick up a pair of the orthopaedic shoes he wears to reduce the pain caused by chronic sciatica.
The visit was filmed and snapped on smartphones by a handful of customers who were in the shop at the time. Francis posed for pictures and blessed a crucifix belonging to one of the shop’s staff…

A frugal pope buys his own shoes - December 21, 2016
ROME -- As cardinal archbishop of Buenos Aires, he took the subway. Then as pope, he went out to buy his own eyeglasses. And now he picked up a pair of shoes.
Pope Francis caused a sensation after he left the Vatican late Tuesday (Dec. 20) and showed up in a pharmacy in the heart of Rome…
“A pope who goes to buy himself a pair of orthopedic shoes is like any citizen. A man among the people!” tweeted another fan.
Since his election in 2013 the former Jorge Bergoglio has made a point of leading a simple life, shunning the opulent papal apartments for a modest room in his residence, carrying his own briefcase and traveling in a simple Ford Fiesta.
