On Gay Priests “Who am I to Judge?”
July 29, 2013
Pope Francis
We have to find a new balance; otherwise
even the moral edifice of the church is likely to
FALL LIKE A HOUSE OF CARDS,
losing the freshness and fragrance
of the Gospel.
Pope Francis
SCIENCE can purify religion from error and superstition;
RELIGION can purify science from idolatry and false absolutes.
Each can draw the other into a wider world,
a world in which both can flourish.
For the truth of the matter is that the Church and the scientific community will inevitably interact; their options
DO NOT include ISOLATION.
Pope John Paul II - 1988
…TRUTH is the light that gives meaning and value to CHARITY. That light is both the light of REASON and the light of FAITH, through which the intellect attains to the natural and supernatural truth of charity: it grasps its meaning as GIFT, acceptance, and communion. WITHOUT truth, charity degenerates into SENTIMENTALITY. Love becomes an EMPTY SHELL, to be filled in an ARBITRARY way. In a CULTURE without truth, this is the FATAL risk facing love. It FALLS prey to contingent subjective emotions and opinions, the word “love” is abused and distorted,to the point where it comes to MEAN the opposite. Truth FREES charity from the constraints of an EMOTIONALISM that deprives it of relational and social content, and of a FIDEISM that deprives it of human and universal breathing-space. In the truth, charity reflects the personal yet public dimension of faith in the God of the Bible, who is both Agápe and Lógos: Charity and Truth, Love and Word…
REASON always stands in need of being purified by faith: this also holds true for political reason, which must not consider itself OMNIPOTENT. For its part, RELIGION always needs to be purified by reason in order to show its authentically human face. Any breach in this dialogue comes only at an enormous price to human development…
Pope Benedict XVI 2007 2009

Congregation for Clergy
The Gift of the Priestly Vocation
dated Thursday, December 8, feast of the Immaculate Conception
Vatican reiterates that homosexuals shouldn’t be priests - Dec 7, 2016
…has reiterated that men with “deeply rooted homosexual tendencies” shouldn’t be admitted into Catholic seminaries and, therefore, shouldn’t become Catholic priests…
In fairness - this statement should be stated - that men with “deeply rooted heterosexual tendencies” shouldn’t be admitted into Catholic seminaries and, therefore, shouldn’t become Catholic priests.
However, the statement made in Dec. 2016 - not only speaks to the hypocrisy of the members of the curia and hierarchy of the Congregation for the Clergy who authored this baloney, but to all for allowing it to be published without public protest. The statement is not only indirectly an action of voluntary ignorance (resulting from negligence regarding something one should have known) of the science on sexual orientation researched and authoritatively accepted - over the 60 past years but it blatantly reaffirms the entrenched corruption of dissociated homosexual culture existing among the majority of the members of the curia and hierarchy.
In addition - this statement made by the curia and hierarchy - publicly defies the ENCYCLICAL LETTERS - of both Saint Pope John Paul II, FIDES ET RATIO, 1998 and Benedict XVI, CARITAS IN VERITATE, 2007 (curial delayed publication till 2009), including John Paul II letter 1988 to the Reverend George V. Coyne SJ, Director of the Vatican Observatory: - all emphatically stating that science and religion must never be separated - an open and ongoing dialogue must be maintained. Benedict XVI explained that truth shines forth from both the light of faith and the light of reason and that without truth there is no love. Benedict XVI makes the stern warning, as if speaking from experiences of growing up in Nazi Germany, stating “Any breach in this dialogue comes only at an enormous price to human development…”
It is a wonder that lightning didn’t come down and once again - strike the top of Saint Peter’s Basilica, as it did twice just hours after Benedict XVI resigned on February 11, 2013. It is just like - Hitler and the Nazi regime - how they built their edifice of the Third Reich from 1933 to 1945 based on Hitler’s arbitrary and irrational formulation of the pseudoscience of racial purity and presented it in pseudo-religious terminology. It was this false dehumanizing edifice of Nazism that led them to starting WWII and that ended falling, destroying them and much of Germany. By the end of World War II more than 70 million people died, equivalent to “wiping-out” the entire populations of both (a) the state of Michigan with 10 million people and (b) the country of Italy with 60 million people. It is “considered the single most destructive event in human history (Less Than Human - by David Livingstone Smith - The Psychology Of Cruelty - http://www.npr.org/2011/03/29/134956180/criminals-see-their-victims-as-less-than-human).” The Second World War from 1939-to 1945 was a global war. It was the most widespread war in history that involved over 100 million people, activated the total resources (economic, industrial, scientific capabilities) of 30 countries (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II)..
Hitler's Place in History
Professor of Modern History at Sheffield University
Wednesday 27th April 2005
…How, then, should we look upon Hitler’s place in history? Primarily, as the inspiration of the most lethal and destructive war in history, and of the most terrible genocide the world has ever seen. He left behind him not just physical, but also moral, ruination such as history has never previously experienced. He represented an extreme pathology of modern society. He showed us the most radical face of modern inhumanity – how an advanced society can undergo a breathtaking descent into modern barbarity that’s quite without precedent. That’s what, with the passage of time, we can see was historically defining about Hitler. Never before Hitler’s time had we seen so clearly what human beings are capable of…
…we shouldn’t mystify Hitler’s personality. The uniqueness of Nazism can’t be reduced to that strange personality. Another time, another place, and Hitler would have had no impact at all. He couldn’t have derailed a modern society without that society itself making a major contribution to its own fate… We shouldn’t be complacent about the future. New forms of fascism and racial intolerance rightly appal and worry us…
…what we can do is to remind ourselves of the essential point about Hitler: he represented the most fundamental and frontal assault ever launched on all that we associate with humanity and civilisation.

Hitler - Nazis Exploit Social Homosexual Prejudices
1. Woo Conservative Support - Becomes Dictator
2. Silence, Remove, Destroy - Anti-nazism Catholic Priests
Hitler and the Nazi Party exploited the ignorance of the social homosexual prejudices of Germany: first, to woo the political support of the conservative elites to gain dictatorship power through the passing of the Enabling Act, March 1933, and second, to silence, remove and destroy the anti-nazi opposition of the Catholic clergy.

Media Framing of Hitler's Rise to Power, 1930-1933
Katherine Blunt - 2015
[Hitler]…upon moving to Vienna in 1908…Hitler was poor and unsuccessful by most standards, but his time there was nonetheless of critical importance to his political success. While there, he studied closely the successes and failures of Austria's three major political parties and learned to inculcate the masses using propaganda and what he called "spiritual and physical terror," a tactic meant to coerce a populace into mental and physical submission by exploiting human weakness…

Blind optimism, 14 November 2007
As Hitler shouted his way up the political ranks in Germany, the Guardian and Observer misjudged the extent of his early influence,
writes Sir Ian Kershaw
By the time the Nazi party came to prominence by winning 107 seats (18.3% of the votes) in the Reichstag election of September 14 1930, British newspapers could not ignore Hitler and his movement. But, as Brigitte Granzow showed long ago in her book, A mirror of Nazism, the reportage was replete with distortions and misinterpretation.
In an article on September 21 that year, the Observer echoed the widely held belief on the left that Hitler was the creature of big capital. It saw the real dangerman not as Hitler, but as the media tycoon and leader of the German National People's party, Alfred Hugenberg. The "Hugenberg manoeuvres", it stated, had aimed to promote both Communists and Nazis as a vehicle to weaken the organised working classes. "Hugenberg, and not Hitler, will ultimately call the Nazi tune."
A week later, the newspaper dismissed Hitler as "dramatic, violent and shallow", and "a lightweight", seeing him as "not a man, but a megaphone" of the prevailing discontent, fronting a militarist reaction, which would mean the destruction of peace. The newspaper went on to claim, remarkably, that Hitler was "definitely Christian in his ideals", and, even more strangely, that these matched the ideals of German Catholics…

Germany's Conservative Elites
The German National People's Party…was a national conservative party in Germany during the time of the Weimar Republic [1919 to 1933]. Before the rise of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) [Nazi Party] it was the major conservative and nationalist party in Weimar Germany. It was an alliance of nationalists, reactionary monarchists, völkisch, and antisemitic elements, and supported by the Pan-German League.
It was formed in late 1918 after Germany's defeat in the First World War and the November Revolution that toppled the German monarchy. It combined remnants of the German Conservative Party, Free Conservative Party, German Fatherland Party and right-wing elements of the National Liberal Party. The party strongly rejected the republican Weimar Constitution of 1919 and the Treaty of Versailles which it viewed as a national disgrace, signed by traitors. Instead it aimed at a restoration of monarchy, a repeal of the dictated peace treaty and reacquisition of all lost territories and colonies…

Hitler, after he was appointed Chancellor of Germany, January 30, 1933, to gain the support of the conservative elites he appealed to their intense prejudices against homosexuals, by ordering the police closures of several gay and lesbian bars in Berlin to take place the day before the German federal elections were held on March 5, 1933.
…In its issue of 4 March 1933, the Berliner Tageblatt carried an article announcing the police closure of fifteen gay and lesbian bars in Berlin. That was the day before the national elections that led to Hitler’s passing of the Enabling Act, and was one of many measures designed to woo conservatives…

Though no single party gained the majority of the people’s votes, Hitler, however, did gain the needed support of the conservatives in the Reichstag to vote in favor of passing the Enabling Act (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enabling_Act_of_1933). Hitler achieved opening the last door to becoming the dictator of Germany and his aggressive implementation of the Nazi ideology of racial purity, the irrational goals of racial cleansing as means of the true German people reaching “national salvation” in the future.
Hitler and the Uniqueness of Nazism - Ian Kershaw 2004
…This was no ‘banality of evil’. This was the working of an ideologically-motivated élite coldly prepared to plan for the eradication of 11 million Jews (the figure laid down at the Wannsee Conference of January 1942), and for the ‘resettlement’ to the Siberian wastes, plainly genocidal in intent, of over 30 million, mainly Slavs, over the following 25 years. That, in such a system, they would find countless ‘willing executioners’ prepared to do their bit, whatever the individual motivation of those involved, goes without saying. This was, however, not on account of national character, or some long-existent, specifically German desire to eliminate the Jews. Rather, it was that the idea of racial cleansing, the core of the notion of national salvation, had become, via Hitler’s leadership position, institutionalized in all aspects of organized life in the nazi state. That was decisive.

…Following the Reichstag fire, the Nazis began to suspend civil liberties and eliminate political opposition. The Communists were excluded from the Reichstag. At the March 1933 elections, again no single party secured a majority. Hitler required the vote of the Centre Party and Conservatives in the Reichstag to obtain the powers he desired. He called on Reichstag members to vote for the Enabling Act on 24 March 1933. Hitler was granted plenary powers "temporarily" by the passage of the Act. The law gave him the freedom to act without parliamentary consent and even without constitutional limitations…

Have you even noticed the harm that your mindless and endless fanatical obsessive antigay crusade, though completely unsubstantiated - not based on one piece of truth or love - for the past 30 years, has been exploited as a political wedge, in the USA that has ushered an enormous number of self-serving people into elected office? Do you even care about the global destruction you have helped to caused - the valuing of profits more than the dignity of human beings? All these human atrocities you allow to happen over the past more than 30 years all - because you insist on remaining stupid!!! You - we do not have the luxury of remaining wedded to our voluntary ignorance and fears of societal prejudices against homosexual sexual orientation.

Pope Francis: address to Global Foundation roundtable
The Global Foundation
Together, we strive for the global common good.
Pope Francis: put the human person at centre of economy - January 14, 2017
…Before all else, I would restate my conviction that a world economic system that discards men, women and children because they are no longer considered useful or productive according to criteria drawn from the world of business or other organizations, is unacceptable, because it is inhumane. This lack of concern for persons is a sign of regression and dehumanization in any political or economic system. Those who cause or allow others to be discarded – whether refugees, children who are abused or enslaved, or the poor who die on our streets in cold weather – become themselves like soulless machines. For they implicitly accept the principle that they too, sooner or later, will be discarded, when they no longer prove useful to a society that has made mammon, the god of money, the centre of its attention.
In 1991, Saint John Paul II, responding to the fall of oppressive political systems and the progressive integration of markets that we have come to call globalization, warned of the risk that an ideology of capitalism would become widespread. This would entail little or no interest for the realities of marginalization, exploitation and human alienation, a lack of concern for the great numbers of people still living in conditions of grave material and moral poverty, and a blind faith in the unbridled development of market forces alone. My Predecessor asked if such an economic system would be the model to propose to those seeking the road to genuine economic and social progress, and offered a clearly negative response. This is not the way (cf. Centesimus Annus, 42).
Sadly, the dangers that troubled Saint John Paul II have largely come to pass. At the same time, we have seen the spread of many concrete efforts on the part of individuals and institutions to reverse the ills produced by an irresponsible globalization…

You, as in all of us, have to entered into the ongoing dialogue between science and religious on the topic of homosexual sexual orientation - as stated by both Saint Pope John Paul II and Benedict XVI and reaffirmed by Pope Francis. John Paul warns us not to give into fear and self-imposed isolation. He states: “As dialogue and common searching continue, there will be grow towards mutual understanding and a gradual uncovering of common concerns which will provide the basis for further research and discussion. Exactly what form that will take must be left to the future…” Both John Paul II and Benedict XVI lived through the atrocities of Hitler and the Nazi Party - they experienced the traumatizing horror of barbaric inhumanity - they write from that experience.
However, as you demonstrated by your false statement of December 8, 2016 that on the part of the curia particularly and the hierarchy - for the past 60 years there has been absolutely no dialogue on this topic that was, first, used by Hitler to become the dictator of Nazi Germany. There has been - only the brutal silencing, removing and destroying reputations of anyone in the Church who openly dare to begin that dialogue between science and religion on homosexuality and shockingly the curia and hierarchy have been imitating the exact same hostile tactics that Hitler and the Nazis used to remove the opposition of the outspoken anti-nazi Catholic priests, the “immorality trials”.
Nazis take power
…Richard J. Evans wrote that Hitler believed that in the long run National Socialism and religion would not be able to co-exist, and stressed repeatedly that Nazism was a secular ideology, founded on modern science: "Science, he declared, would easily destroy the last remaining vestiges of superstition". Germany could not tolerate the intervention of foreign influences such as the Pope and "Priests, he said, were 'black bugs', 'abortions in black cassocks'". He believed in a world Jewish conspiracy operating though social democracy, Marxism and Christianity…

Letter to Father George V. Coyne, Director of the Vatican Observatory (June 1, 1988)
…By encouraging openness between the Church and the scientific communities, we are N O T envisioning a disciplinary unity between theology and science like that which exists within a given scientific field or within theology proper. As dialogue and common searching continue, there will be grow towards mutual understanding and a gradual uncovering of common concerns which will provide the basis for further research and discussion. Exactly what form that will take must be left to the future. What is important, as we have already stressed, is that the dialogue should continue and grow in depth and scope. In the process we must overcome every regressive tendency to a unilateral reductionism, to fear, and to self-imposed isolation. What is critically important is that each discipline should continue to enrich, nourish and challenge the other to be more fully what it can be and to contribute to our vision of who we are and who we are becoming…
Science can purify religion from error and superstition; religion can purify science from idolatry and false absolutes. Each can draw the other into a wider world, a world in which both can flourish.

Part 4: The 'Dynamic Hatred' against Minorities
January 30, 2008
…The national community gained its very definition from those who were excluded from it. Racial discrimination was inevitably, therefore, an inbuilt part of the Nazi interpretation of the concept. Since measures directed at creating "racial purity," such as the persecution later of homosexuals, Roma and "a-socials," exploited existing prejudice and were allegedly aimed at strengthening a homogeneous ethnic nation, they buttressed Hitler's image as the embodiment of the national community. Even more so, the relentless denunciation of the nation's alleged powerful enemies -- Bolshevism, western "plutocracy," and most prominently the Jews (linked in propaganda with both) -- reinforced Hitler's appeal as the defender of the nation and bulwark against the threats to its survival, whether external or from within…

Why Bother About Homosexuals? Homophobia and Sexual Politics in Nazi Germany 2002
Geoffrey J. Giles
United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
Why should the Nazis bother about homosexuals? After all, some of the most loyal supporters of the Nazi movement were homosexual, and Hitler refused to condemn the sexual preference of Ernst Röhm, even after it featured prominently in the opposition’s campaign against the Nazis in 1931. Tolerance for homosexuals had increased in Germany during the first three decades of the twentieth century to the extent that an open gay culture flourished in cities such as Berlin in the 1920s, and parliament seemed well on the way to abolishing §175, the clause of the penal code dealing with homosexual offenses. So why bother about them? First, because Nazi opposition to this emancipation sought to appeal to the conservative backlash that the Nazis wished to co-opt. In terms of immediate action when Hitler came to power, there were well-publicized closures of gay bars in big cities…

Hitler: 1936-1945 Nemesis
Ian Kershaw - 2001
‘After three years, I believe that, with the present day, the struggle for German equal rights can be regarded as closed.’ The day was 7 March 1936. The words were those of Hitler addressing the Reichstag as German troops, defying the western democracies, crossed into the demilitarized Rhineland… ‘
Within Germany, by this point, Hitler’s power was absolute. The largest, most modern, and most thrusting nation-state in central Europe lay at his feet, bound to the ‘charismatic’ politics of ‘national salvation’. His position as Dictator was unchallenged. No serious threat of opposition faced him…
…The mood of national exhilaration whipped up by the Rhineland spectacular was, it is true, of its nature short-lived. The worries and complaints of daily life returned soon enough. Worker discontent about low wages and poor work conditions, farmer resentment at the ‘coercive economy’ of the Food Estate, the grumbling of small tradesmen about economic difficulties, and ubiquitous consumer dissatisfaction over prices continued unabated. The behaviour and corruption of party functionaries was as much a source of grievance as ever. And in Catholic areas, where the ‘Church struggle’ had intensified, the party’s attacks on the Church’s practices and institutions, the assault on denominational schooling, and the harassing of clergy (including highly publicized trials of members of religious orders for alleged foreign-currency smuggling and sexual impropriety) left the mood extraordinarily sour. But it would be as well not to overestimate the significance of the discontent. None of it was translated into political opposition likely to cause serious trouble to the regime…
In February 1937 Hitler made it plain to his inner circle that he did not want a ‘Church struggle’ at this juncture…Instead, the conflict with the Christian Churches intensified. The anti-clericalism and anti-Church sentiments of the grass-roots Party activists simply could not be eradicated…It was met by determined (if ultimately unsuccessful) rearguard action of the clergy and churchgoing population…The stranglehold that the Churches maintained over the values and mentalities of large sections of the population was an obvious thorn in the side of a Movement with its own highly intolerant ‘world-view’, which saw itself as making a total claim on soul as well as body. The assault on the practices and institutions of the Christian Churches was deeply embedded in the psyche of National Socialism. Where the hold of the Church was strong, as in the backwaters of rural Bavaria, the conflict raged in villages and small towns with little prompting from on high.
At the same time, the activists could draw on the verbal violence of Party leaders towards the Churches for their encouragement. Goebbels’s orchestrated attacks on the clergy through the staged ‘immorality trials’ of Franciscans in 1937 – following usually trumped-up or grossly exaggerated allegations of sexual impropriety in the religious orders – provided further ammunition. And, in turn, however much Hitler on some occasions claimed to want a respite in the conflict, his own inflammatory comments gave his immediate underlings all the licence they needed to turn up the heat in the ‘Church struggle’, confident that they were ‘working towards the Führer’. Hitler’s impatience with the Churches prompted frequent outbursts of hostility. In early 1937, he was declaring that ‘Christianity was ripe for destruction’ (Untergang) , and that the Churches must yield to the ‘primacy of the state’, railing against any compromise with ‘the most horrible institution imaginable’…
6. LICENSING BARBARISM
‘...Extensive shootings were planned in Poland and... especially the nobility and clergy were to be exterminated.’
Admiral Canaris, seeking clarification from General Keitel, 12 September 1939, about information that had come to his attention…
‘...This matter has already been decided by the Führer.’
General Keitel’s reply
‘You are now the master race here. Nothing was yet built up through softness and weakness... That’s why I expect, just as our Führer Adolf Hitler expects from you, that you are disciplined, but stand together hard as Krupp steel. Don’t be soft, be merciless, and clear out everything that is not German and could hinder us in the work of construction.’
Ludolf von Alvensleben, head of the ‘Volksdeutscher
Selbstschutz’(‘Ethnic German Self-Protection’) militia squads in West Prussia, 16 October 1939
‘It was immaterial to him if some time in the future it were established that the methods to win this territory were not pretty or open to legal objection.’

In the USA, 1957, Evelyn Hooker’s most notable and ground breaking research proving that homosexuality is not a mental illness was completed called:-
"The Adjustment of the Male Overt Homosexual" in which she administered several psychological tests to groups of self-identified male homosexuals and heterosexuals and asked experts to identify the homosexuals and rate their mental health. The experiment, which other researchers subsequently repeated, argues that homosexuality is not a mental disorder, as there was no detectable difference between homosexual and heterosexual men in terms of mental adjustment...

The myth buster
Evelyn Hooker’s groundbreaking research exploded the notion that homosexuality was a mental illness, ultimately removing it from the DSM.
In 1953, Evelyn Hooker, PhD, applied for a National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) grant to conduct research on “normal homosexuals.” During this period of American history, Sen. Joseph McCarthy was seeking out communists wherever he suspected they might be lurking; homosexual acts were a crime; bomb shelters were springing up in backyards; and the term “normal” homosexual was thought to be an oxymoron. A variety of medical and psychological treatments to “cure” homosexuality were employed, including ice pick lobotomies, electroshock, chemical castration with hormonal treatment or aversive conditioning. Gay parties were raided by the police, particularly in election years when a crackdown on “sexual perversion” was seen as a positive step in the fight on crime.

Hooker’s proposal to study gay men began as a result of a close friendship she developed with a former University of California, Los Angeles, student, Sam From, who introduced her to the gay subculture. She became one of the heterosexuals “in the know.” It was From who told her it was her “scientific duty” to study homosexuals and promised her access to all the subjects she needed. Initially she demurred but eventually, with the encouragement of From and her colleague Bruno Klopfer, Hooker began an investigation that would ultimately result in the removal of homosexuality as a form of psychopathology from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual III of the American Psychiatric Association. This research was the culmination of Hooker’s lifelong interest in social justice.
Humble beginnings
Evelyn Hooker was born Evelyn Gentry Sept. 2, 1907 in North Platte, Neb., the sixth of nine children…Her family was quite poor, and neither parent was educated past fourth grade. Her adolescence was colored by these social stigmata; she attributed her study of “an oppressed, deprived people,” (homosexual men) to her early experience (Garnets & Kimmel, 2003, p. 36)…she completed her doctorate in experimental psychology at Johns Hopkins University in 1932…A fellowship in 1937–38 took her to Berlin to pursue her increasing interest in clinical psychology at the Institute for Psychotherapy. She lived with a Jewish family and witnessed, with dismay, Hitler’s rise to power. Much later, after her return to the United States, she learned that all members of her host family perished in the concentration camps.
A trip to the Soviet Union at the end of her fellowship year exposed her to another totalitarian regime…
…Evelyn Hooker returned to her research on gay men…she decided to apply for a grant from NIMH. The chief of the grants division, John Eberhart, flew out to interview her to see who this woman was who claimed she had access to any number of gay men who were neither psychiatric patients nor prisoners. He told her, given the climate of McCarthyism, everyone was being investigated and if she got the grant, “you won’t know why and we won’t know why” (1993, p. 450). (Eberhart later told Hooker that her project was derisively referred to as “The Fairy Project” by some federal officials in Washington.) Funding was granted and Hooker embarked on her study…
…Hooker reported that one of the most exciting days of her life was the day she presented the results of her research at APA’s 1956 Annual Convention in Chicago. This ground-breaking research and the work that followed on the homosexual subculture led to Hooker’s award in 1992 for Distinguished Contribution to Psychology in the Public Interest from APA. In her response to this honor, she shared the award with the gay and lesbian community and expressed pleasure that her research and her “long advocacy of a scientific view of homosexuality” could make their lives and the lives of their families better. She closed her address by reading from a letter she had received from a gay man thanking her for her work and saying, “I think you did it because you knew what love was when you saw it, and you knew that gay love was like all other love.”
Evelyn Hooker's pioneering research debunked the popular myth that homosexuals are inherently less mentally healthy than heterosexuals, leading to significant changes in how psychology views and treats people who are gay...
Hooker's work was the first to empirically test the assumption that gay men were mentally unhealthy and maladjusted. The fact that no differences were found between gay and straight participants sparked more research in this area and began to dismantle the myth that homosexual men and women are inherently unhealthy.
In conjunction with other empirical results, this work led theAmerican Psychiatric Association to remove homosexuality from the DSM in 1973 (it had been listed as a sociopathic personality disorder). In 1975, the American Psychological Association publicly supported this move, stating that "homosexuality per se implies no impairment in judgment, reliability or general social and vocational capabilities…(and mental health professionals should) take the lead in removing the stigma of mental illness long associated with homosexual orientation." Although prejudice and stigma still exist in society, this research has helped millions of gay men and women gain acceptance in the mental health community.

Evelyn Hooker, 89, Is Dead; Recast the View of Gay Men - November 22, 1996
...Her most significant work was a paper delivered in 1956 to the American Psychological Association in Chicago and published the next year as ''The Adjustment of the Male Overt Homosexual'' in The Journal of Projective Techniques.
Dr. Hooker administered three standard personality tests, including the Rorschach ink-blot test, to two groups of 30 men, one heterosexual, one homosexual, who had been matched in I.Q.'s, age and education levels.
She then asked a panel of expert clinicians to assess the results without knowing the subjects' sexual orientation. To their surprise, the judges were unable to discern between the two groups on the basis of the test.
''The most striking finding of the three judges,'' Dr. Hooker wrote, ''was that many of the homosexuals were very well adjusted. In fact, the three judges agreed on two-thirds of the group as being average to superior in adjustment. Not only do all homosexuals not have strong feminine identification, nor are they all 'somewhat paranoid,' but, according to the judges, some may not be characterized by any demonstrable pathology.''...
…At the peak of the McCarthy period, in 1953, she applied for and received a grant from the National Institute of Mental Health. ''They talk about all this courage I'm supposed to have had,'' she recalled four decades later, in an interview with The Los Angeles Times. ''I don't get that. Curiosity and empathy were what compelled me to do my study.''...

The Rejection of Modern Science:
the Nazi Dismissal Policy of 1933
Colleen Harris 2002
Jacksonville University
In 1933, the Nazi regime in Germany passed the Civil Service Law, which dismissed non-Aryans and the “politically unreliable” from state employment…On top of this, Nazi Germans associated Jews with modern science because of the high number of Jews working in science. These dismissals included scientists from teaching and other governmental positions. Of those dismissed from their positions, some left their homeland and some remained in Germany. In either case, the dismissal of professors from their appointments adversely affected German science.
During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, German laboratories and industrial institutions had been the best, most innovative, in the world. In fact, between 1901 and 1932, one third of all Nobel Prize winners hailed from Germany…Certainly, the Nazi regime’s Dismissal Policy, especially toward theoretical scientists, spurred the decline in the quality of German science and enriched the scientific establishments of its enemies. By 1939, for example, the level of chemistry in the United States, a country frequently adopted by the German refugees, had risen dramatically…
…The pace picked up after Adolph Hitler’s ascent to power in January 1933. Between 1933 and 1939, over 1,700 scientists rejected Nazi-imposed restrictions on science and left Germany to seek sanctuary in other lands.
Many of the scientists who left objected to Nazi-enforced methods of science. The Nazis’ “new science” was not objective; it was certainly not the “common property of mankind;” and the party used it to serve its own purposes. In June 1936, Dr. Bernhard Rust, German Minister of Science…declared that Nazism and official ideology were more important than was empirical, objective science. Turning the notion of empirical truth on its head, he argued that “Science which is not in accord with it [German ideology] is not objective.”…In Germany, as the New York Times reported, not even “a laboratory worker [could] decide for himself what the philosophy of science [should] be,” implying that science was a merely a tool of the dictatorship to be manipulated by the Führer and his party. Prominent scientists willingly gave themselves and their study to the regime.
Nazi science naturally contained a racial element to it: theoretical science was “Jewish” and non-theoretical was “Aryan.” The Nazis dismissed the validity of Jewish science, especially physics, a field where Jews were particularly prominent…Dr. Otto Wacker of the Ministry of Education clearly stated the party’s view…in 1936: “The problems of science do not present themselves the same way to all men. The Negro and the Jew will view the same world differently from the Germans.” He also claimed that true science resulted from the “superior qualities of ‘Nordic’ research…
The Nazi failure to develop an atomic weapon symbolized the disfunctionality of Nazi science wherein a priori ideology trumped scientific accomplishment. The Third Reich promoted a subjective view of science that rejected theoretical ideas. Because of the disproportionate number of Jews in science, the Nazis associated modern science with the Jewish people. The Nazis dismissed hundreds of Jewish and Aryan scientists who practiced theoretical science. Many also left their institutions and Germany on their own volition. The Nazi Civil Service Law of 1933 had set in motion events that led to the downfall of German science and contributed significantly to Germany’s eventual destruction in 1945…

Jewish émigrés who fled Nazi Germany revolutionized U.S. science and technology,
Stanford economist says
Stanford economist says
Stanford Report, August 11, 2014
U.S. patents increased by 31 percent in fields common among Jewish scientists who fled Nazi Germany for America, according to Stanford economist Petra Moser. Their innovative influence rippled outward for generations, as the émigrés attracted new researchers who then trained other up-and-comers.
By Clifton B.Parker
Anecdotal accounts suggest that the arrival of German Jewish émigrés to America who were fleeing the Nazi regime in the 1930s revolutionized U.S. science and innovation. But this claim has never been empirically confirmed until now, thanks to new research by a Stanford economist.
Petra Moser, an assistant professor of economics at Stanford, found that the number of U.S. patents increased by 31 percent after 1933 in fields common among those who emigrated from Germany, according to her research paper. In fact, these scientists and inventors led a transformation of American innovation in the post-World War II period.
"German Jewish émigrés had a huge effect on U.S. innovation," Moser said in an interview. "They helped increase the quality of research by training a new generation of American scientists, who then became productive researchers in their own rights."
Historical obstacles
The decision by many Jews to leave Germany is perhaps best understood in light of a Nazi Germany law passed on April 7, 1933 – just 67 days after Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor – that forced so-called non-Aryan civil servants out of their jobs.
By 1944, more than 133,000 German Jewish émigrés had moved to America – many of them highly skilled and educated. Some were even Nobel Prize winners and renowned intellectuals like Albert Einstein in physics, and Otto Loewi and Max Bergmann in chemistry.
As Moser describes it, these newcomers to the United States faced obstacles even in their new homeland, though nothing like the life-and-death situation in Nazi Germany. Sometimes Jewish scientists met with unusual administrative hurdles in acquiring visas and employment, she noted.
Nonetheless, German Jewish scientists contributed brainpower to the U.S. war effort and postwar industry – at least that's the historical perception…

Weimar culture - Germany 1918-1933
Weimar culture was the flourishing of the arts and sciences that happened in Germany during the Weimar Republic, the latter during that part of the interwar period between Germany's defeat in World War I in 1918 and Hitler's rise to power in 1933.
Germany, and Berlin in particular, was fertile ground for intellectuals, artists, and innovators from many fields during the Weimar Republic years. The social environment was chaotic, and politics were passionate. German university faculties became universally open to Jewish scholars in 1918. Leading Jewish intellectuals on university faculties included physicist Albert Einstein; sociologists Karl Mannheim, Erich Fromm, Theodor Adorno, Max Horkheimer, and Herbert Marcuse; philosophers Ernst Cassirer and Edmund Husserl; political theorists Arthur Rosenberg and Gustav Meyer; and many others. Nine German citizens were awarded Nobel prizes during the Weimar Republic, five of whom were Jewish scientists, including two in medicine. Jewish intellectuals and creative professionals were among the prominent figures in many areas of Weimar culture…

NAZI MEDICAL ETHICS: ORDINARY DOCTORS?

Chapter 14
CONCLUSION
First, it is important to appreciate not just the extent to which the Nazis were able to draw upon the imagery and authority of medicine, but also the extent to which Nazi ideology informed the practice of medical science. Secondly, physicians were not bystanders, or even pawns; many (not all, but not a few) helped to construct the racial policies of the Nazi state. It is probably as fair to say that Nazi racial policy emerged from within the scientific community, as to say that it was imposed upon that community. Secondly, physicians were not bystanders, or even pawns; many (not all, but not a few) helped to construct the racial policies of the Nazi state. It is probably as fair to say that Nazi racial policy emerged from within the scientific community, as to say that it was imposed upon that community. Thirdly,…Among physicians, there were as many volunteers as victims; no one had to force physicians to support the regime. Hans Hefelmann testified to this effect in the euthanasia trial at Limburg in 1964: “[N]o doctor was ever ordered to participate in the euthanasia program; they came of their own volition.”
The Nazis did not have to politicize science; in fact, it is probably fair to say that the Nazis “depoliticized science”—in the sense that they destroyed the political diversity that had made Weimar medicine and public health the envy of the world (with its local outpatient clinics, self-help networks, single-payer reimbursement, and similarly progressive programs)…The Nazis medicalized politics as much as they politicized medicine; racial minorities were ostracized and then exterminated, and problems of sexual or social deviance (or both) were transformed into “surgical problems” in need of surgical solutions.
Finally, I do not want to leave the impression that the horrors of this period can be attributed to anything inherent in science or in medicine, or even in “technocracy” or the rule of professional elites. It took a powerful state to concentrate and unleash the destructive forces within German medicine, and without that state, science would have remained impotent in this sphere. In the midst of a war engineered by an aggressive, expansionist state, Nazi ideologues were able to turn to doctors to carry out acts that have come to be regarded as the embodiment of evil.

“MALICIOUS RESISTANCE”
Pope Francis
December 22, 2016
PRESENTATION OF THE CHRISTMAS GREETINGS TO THE ROMAN CURIA
…There are also cases of malicious resistance, which spring up in misguided minds and come to the fore when the devil inspires ill intentions (often cloaked in sheep’s clothing). This last kind of resistance hides behind words of self-justification and, often, accusation; it takes refuge in traditions, appearances, formalities, in the familiar, or else in a desire to make everything personal, failing to distinguish between the act, the actor, and the action…
Cardinal Raymond Burke, patron of the Knights and Dames of Malta, center
Pope Francis Speaks about the Reform of the Roman Curia and the Resistance to It - December 22, 2016
…The “open resistances” are “often born of good will and sincere dialog,” he stated. But the “hidden resistances” are “born of frightened or petrified hearts that feed on empty words of spiritualgattopardism of the one who says he is ready for change, but wants everything to remain as before.”
As for the “malevolent resistances,” Francis said these “sprout in distorted minds” and “present themselves when the devil inspires bad intentions (often in ‘lamb’s’ clothing’).” This form of resistance “hides behind justifying and, in many cases, accusatory words, takes refuge for self in traditions, in appearances, in formalities, in the known or in the wish to reduce everything to the personal without distinguishing between the act, the actor and the action.”
Francis was aware that a number of cardinals and curial officials present as he spoke are engaged in such resistance, including Cardinals Burke and Sarah, but he declared “the absence of reaction is a sign of death!” whereas resistance “is a sign that the body is alive.”
Consequently, he said, “the good resistances—and even the less good ones—are necessary and merit to be listened to, received and encouraged to express themselves.”…

The Vatican Bureaucracy Is Resisting Reforms And Pope Francis Is Not Happy
December 22, 2016
Pope Francis decried “malevolent” internal resistance to his campaign to reform the Vatican bureaucracy on Thursday and said lay men and women should get top jobs if they are more qualified than clerics.
For the third year running, Francis used his annual Christmas greetings to the Roman Catholic Church’s central bureaucracy, or Curia, to lecture the assembled cardinals, bishops and other department heads on the need for change.
The Argentine-born pontiff, who in his 2014 address said the Italian-dominated Curia suffered from “spiritual Alzheimer’s” listed 12 guidelines to reform including better coordination, dedication to service and openness to “the signs of the times.”
Speaking forcefully, he acknowledged that there had been resistance from some self-centered members of the bureaucracy, some of it open, some of it hidden and some hypocritical.
“But there has also been some malevolent resistance,” Francis, who turned 80 last week, told cardinals, bishops and monsignors gathered in the Vatican’s frescoed Sala Clementina.
“This (type) germinates in distorted minds and presents itself when the devil inspires wicked intentions, often in lambs’ clothing,” he said…

A Tale of Four Cardinals - December 23, 2016
…Raymond Burke, patron of the Knights of Malta…demand answers to questions…to Pope Francis over Amoris Laetitia…Each question demands a yes-or-no answer. Does it sound like they are trying to pin Francis to the wall?
…a Roman Catholic Greek bishop, Frangiskos Papamanolis, responded…who serves as chair of the Greek conference of bishops…He accuses the four cardinals of the sins of heresy, possible apostasy (he notes that this is how schisms start), and scandal. After first opining that they ought to have resigned their red hats before making such a scandalous statement, he expresses concern not for the souls of the poor confused flock out there, but for their souls.
It is clear from your document that, in practice, you do not believe in the Pope’s supreme magisterial authority, backed up by two Synods of Bishops coming from the whole world. Obviously the Holy Spirit inspires only you, and not the Vicar of Christ, nor even the Bishops gathered in Synod... .
I fear your mental categories will find sophisticated arguments to justify what you are doing, so that you will not even consider it a sin to be dealt with in the sacrament of penance, and you will continue to celebrate Holy Mass each day and receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist sacrilegiously, while you claim you are scandalized if, in specific cases, a divorced person receives the Eucharist and you accuse Holy Father Francis of heresy.
…Father Pio Vito Pinto, head of the Roman Rota…expressed an opinion on the question of whether or not Pope Francis could actually strip these guys of their cardinalate…
“What Church do these cardinals defend? The pope is faithful to the doctrine of Christ. What they have done is a very grave scandal.”…
…Meanwhile, all is not well at the Knights of Malta, which is Cardinal Burke’s actual (or supposed) place of ministry. A high profile firing has provoked a constitutional crisis for the Order, and has now also called forth an urgent Vatican investigation…

How the pope’s history with the Knights of Malta could be linked to the current row - January 13, 2017
…To recap: On the pope’s instructions, the Vatican’s secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, has created a five-man commission to investigate the allegedly unlawful removal of one of the Order of Malta’s most senior leaders.
The firing of the Grand Chancellor, Albrecht Boeselager, on December 6, after he refused to resign, was made by the Grand Master, Fra Matthew Festing, in the presence of the Order’s patron, Cardinal Raymond Burke…
…The justification for the Festing-Burke move against Von Boeselager was that between 1989 and 2014, when he was in charge of the order’s international humanitarian arm, Malteser International, it financed aid agencies that distributed condoms to prevent AIDS among prostitutes in Myanmar, Kenya and South Sudan…
…The reason for the Vatican investigation is the Von Boesalager claim that there were no grounds for his ouster, that the order’s own procedures were not followed, and that Burke tried to invoke the Holy See’s support for the sacking when it never sanctioned such a move…
…The two may be wholly unconnected, but this is not the first time that Francis has faced hostility from the Knights of Malta, some of whose leading figures were involved in an unsuccessful plot in 2008 to remove Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio as Archbishop of Buenos Aires and replace him with a chaplain to the Knights, the Bishop of Zárate-Campana, Oscar Sarlinga…
…To say that this aspect of the chivalric order exists at the opposite pole from Francis’s call for a pastoral conversion is something of an understatement. The linking of ecclesiastic politics and high finance in Knights such as Caselli - who once sent Bergoglio a first-class ticket to Rome and received it back shred into pieces - is a strong example of what Francis calls “spiritual worldliness.”…

Walking With Peter - January 23, 2017
A confident pope sets a new example for governing the church.
…Since the first days of his pontificate in 2013, Pope Francis has dealt with more than his fair share of tension in the church he was elected to govern. Those tensions have become more pronounced in recent months, as Francis tries to extend the center of global Catholicism away from Rome to the peripheries and implement reforms that his supporters say are long overdue.
Whereas popes of the distant past wielded temporal power as effectively as any king, Pope Francis’ most potent tool is his example. The men he has appointed to be cardinals and bishops serve as models of the kinds of pastors he thinks the church needs. His many interviews and press conferences demonstrate his insistence that church leaders must connect with everyday Catholics. And his decision to bring out into the open once taboo topics shows that he wants the church to confront its challenges rather than continue to ignore them out of a mistaken, simplistic notion of unity.
The pope has invited his flock to walk alongside him as he seeks to reinvigorate the church. Taking the initial steps of what promises to be a long trek means tensions in the church are sure not to let up anytime soon. But Francis is unafraid, those close to him say, trusting that God is guiding him and all the faithful on this journey…

Maltese bishops: Remarried Catholics ‘at peace’ can receive Communion January 13, 2017
ROME- Bishops in the island nation of Malta, in percentage terms among the most Catholic nations on earth, have followed those of Buenos Aires, the pontiff’s home archdiocese, in their approach to Pope Francis’s document on the family, Amoris Laetitia.
Like their Latin American peers, they’ve produced a set of guidelines that clearly state the door to Communion for divorced and civilly remarried Catholics is open.
“If, as a result of the process of discernment,” the bishops write, “a separated or divorced person who is living in a new relationship manages, with an informed and enlightened conscience, to acknowledge and believe that he or she is at peace with God, he or she cannot be precluded from participating in the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.”
Meaning, if a person, in good conscience, believes he or she is entitled to Communion, priests in Malta can’t exclude them from accessing the sacrament.
The Maltese “Criteria for the Application of Chapter VIII of ‘Amoris Laetitia’” was signed on January 8 by Archbishop Charles Scicluna of Malta and Bishop Mario Grech of Gozo. Released on Jan. 13 through the bishops’ website, the document sent to the country’s priests included a copy of the divisive chapter at the end…

Pope okays Argentine doc on Communion for divorced and remarried - September 12, 2016
ROME- Ever since Pope Francis released a sweeping document on the family this March, there’s been ongoing discussion regarding what the conclusion actually is for divorced and civilly remarried Catholics who, according to previous Church teaching, were barred from receiving Communion.
We may now have a new clue, one that stems from the pontiff’s former archdiocese in Argentina. The bishops of the Buenos Aires region have drafted a set of guidelines meant to help local priests put Francis’s Amoris Laetitia into pastoral practice, particularly chapter eight, which makes reference to “discernment regarding the possible access to the sacraments of some of those who are divorced and in a new union.”
The guidelines say that some civilly remarried couples who can’t adhere to the Church’s teaching of “living like brothers and sisters,” who have complex circumstances, and who can’t obtain a declaration of nullity for their first marriage, might undertake a “journey of discernment,” and arrive at the recognition that in their particular case, there are limitations that “diminish responsibility and culpability.”
For these exceptional cases, the bishops wrote, “Amoris Laetitia opens up the possibility of access to the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist.”
Yet, they warn, “it’s necessary to avoid understanding this possibility as an unrestricted access to the sacraments, or as though any situation might justify it.”
The guidelines, dated Sept. 5, reached Francis, who answered on the same day, writing: “The document is very good and completely explains the meaning of chapter VIII of Amoris Laetitia. There are no other interpretations. And I am certain that it will do much good. May the Lord reward this effort of pastoral charity.”…

Battle in Berlin
The members of the curia and hierarchy of the Congregation for the Clergy who authored this false statement of December 8, 2016, and all who supported it - are mirroring exactly Hitler’s and the Nazi party same footsteps - by their arbitrary pseudoscience formulation of sexual orientation - completely separated from the authoritative science on sexual orientation and presented it in pseudo-religious terms. However, like Hitler and the Nazi Party - it is completely void of any truth and therefore it is without love. What kind of applicants for the priesthood are you expecting to recruit? The blind, deaf and dumb!!! You are looking to recruit the mirror images of yourselves, "closeted homosexuals" - the characteristics of dissociated repressed homosexuals - exactly the same as the majority of the members of the curia and hierarchy. Failing to heed the words of Benedict XVI “Any breach in this dialogue comes only at an enormous price to human development…” - the mass destruction of the Congregation for Clergy and as well as the decades of the same entrenched corruption of the curia and hierarchy will be far greater than Hitler’s - it is a form of structural violence. What are your credentials, any degrees in human sexuality??? Have you even open a book on human sexuality? Some people, “idiots,” are all aghast over adult gay pornography, which is harmless, though a situation your ignorance causes (study the research) - but these idiots think nothing of the global violence you are causing. Talk about reveling in coprophilia!!! You are the blind leading the blind!!! It is like allowing someone to do open heart surgery, who has no credentials to do so.

Do you see any similarities with your false arbitrary statements on sexual orientation and the majority of the statements made during the USA presidential campaign last year 2016? You don’t have to speak the truth - why should they? In the past, 30 years who taught whom to lie?
This is the moral edifice of the Church reiterated by the Congregation for Clergy and supported by the curia and hierarchy - that is soon to fall like a house made of cards as Pope Francis stated in his interview:
A Big Heart Open to God - September 30, 2013
...We have to find a new balance; otherwise even the moral edifice of the church is likely to fall like a house of cards, losing the freshness and fragrance of the Gospel. The proposal of the Gospel must be more simple, profound, radiant. It is from this proposition that the moral consequences then flow…
In addition - the Congregation for the Clergy statement was made in direct opposition to the statement that Pope Francis made:-
On Gay Priests “Who am I to Judge?”July 29, 2013
ROME — For generations, homosexuality has largely been a taboo topic for the Vatican, ignored altogether or treated as “an intrinsic moral evil,” in the words of the previous pope.
In that context, brief remarks by Pope Francis suggesting that he would not judge priests for their sexual orientation, made aboard the papal airplane on the way back from his first foreign trip, to Brazil, resonated through the church. Never veering from church doctrine opposing homosexuality, Francis did strike a more compassionate tone than that of his predecessors, some of whom had largely avoided even saying the more colloquial “gay.”
“If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?” Francis told reporters, speaking in Italian but using the English word “gay.” …
John Jay Report: On Not Blaming Homosexual Priests - May 17, 2011
…[T]he researchers found no statistical evidence that gay priests were more likely than straight priests to abuse minors—a finding that undermines a favorite talking point of many conservative Catholics. The disproportionate number of adolescent male victims was about opportunity, not preference or pathology, the report states…
What’s more, researchers note that the rise in the number of gay priests from the late 1970s onward actually corresponded with “a decreased incidence of abuse — not an increased incidence of abuse.”
Reflections on Pope Francis
Is he a reformer, a traditionalist, or both?
Harvard Divinity Bulletin - Spring/Winter 2014
...In response to the question of why he had not removed Monsignor Battista Ricca, whom he had appointed to a supervisory group at the Vatican Bank, he affirmed his nonjudgmental affirmation of the person and his willingness to keep him in the position—despite allegations that Monsignor Ricca had a homosexual relationship in his past...Thus, Pope Francis makes an important shift insofar as he sharply distinguishes between the criminal act of sexual abuse and homosexuality—and he did not withdraw his appointment of Monsignor Ricca. Will this distinction also lead him to move against bishops who cover up sexual abuse by transferring priests from one parish to another? If he does, that will signal an even more significant shift…

Cardinal Raymond Burke
Though the statement made by - the Congregation for the Clergy is directly in line with (1) Cardinal Raymond Burke’s obsessive reenactment of US Senator Joseph McCarthy’s 1950s antigay mantra, and it (2) mirrors Hitler’s arbitrary selection of science that only fits with his Nazi ideology, and in both cases (3) it is the breach that Pope Benedict XVI firmly warns us not to make in failing to maintain an ongoing dialogue between reason (science) and religion “Any breach in this dialogue comes only at an enormous price to human development… (Pope Benedict XVI “CARITAS IN VERITATE" 2007 2009 - http://w2.vatican.va/content/benedict-xvi/en/encyclicals/documents/hf_ben-xvi_enc_20090629_caritas-in-veritate.html)." Cardinal Raymond Burke: ‘Feminized’ church and altar girls caused priest shortage - January 7, 2015
...In the interview, Burke also blamed gay clergy for the church’s sexual abuse crisis, saying priests “who were feminized and confused about their own sexual identity” were the ones who molested children.
Researchers have disputed that claim, and experts note that the reported rise in the number of gay men entering the priesthood since the 1980s coincided with a sharp drop-off in abuse cases…
Synod draft furthers ‘welcoming’ tone towards gay people from Pope Francis
October 14, 2014
A year ago, Pope Francis stunned the world by talking about gay men and lesbians and their relationships with the church with unheard-of compassion, respect and openness. But those were just the musings of a new pontiff in a magazine interview. Not the stuff of church policy. That’s why what was said about gay people in the first draft of the document on family by the Synod of Bishops gathering in Rome is being called “an earthquake.”
One sentence — “Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community” — sets the tone from a church hierarchy known for its harsh and negative judgment of gay men and lesbians. There were nods to unions between committed same-sex couples and the children in families with same-sex parents, even though they make a point of saying such unions “cannot be considered on the same footing as matrimony between man and woman.” I found interesting the use of “sexual orientation” instead of the sneering “sexual preference” favored by many of faith who firmly and falsely believe that being gay is a choice. What was more startling about the Synod draft was the word not used at all in relation to homosexuals or homosexuality: sin.
Welcoming homosexual persons
50. Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community: are we capable of welcoming these people, guaranteeing to them a fraternal space in our communities? Often they wish to encounter a Church that offers them a welcoming home. Are our communities capable of providing that, accepting and valuing their sexual orientation, without compromising Catholic doctrine on the family and matrimony?
51. The question of homosexuality leads to a serious reflection on how to elaborate realistic paths of affective growth and human and evangelical maturity integrating the sexual dimension: it appears therefore as an important educative challenge. The Church furthermore affirms that unions between people of the same sex cannot be considered on the same footing as matrimony between man and woman. Nor is it acceptable that pressure be brought to bear on pastors or that international bodies make financial aid dependent on the introduction of regulations inspired by gender ideology.
52. Without denying the moral problems connected to homosexual unions it has to be noted that there are cases in which mutual aid to the point of sacrifice constitutes a precious support in the life of the partners. Furthermore, the Church pays special attention to the children who live with couples of the same sex, emphasizing that the needs and rights of the little ones must always be given priority…
This antigay statement made by the curia members of Congregation for Clergy “The Gift of the Priestly Vocation” not only is it a void of any science or religion - it is shamelessly hypocritical. The Vatican has been riddled incessantly with gay sex scandals of the clergy in - both the curia and hierarchy. Who are you kidding? Just because the majority of the members of curia and hierarchy are in their own la-la state (a fanciful state or dreamworld) of homosexual dissociation - the rest of the world is not and can see through the hypocrisy.

Excerpts:
ROBERT MICKENS, Vatican Correspondent, The Tablet: I came here when I was a seminarian in 1986. And I remember I had this very wide-eyed idea of the Vatican, of these holy cardinals and holy men. And I was shocked within a matter of weeks, months, at the careerism, at the sexual innuendo, the— just the whole kind of non-holy life I hadn't expected.
VATICAN GUIDE: [through interpreter] A large part of the hierarchy is homosexual. Certainly, at the top levels of the church, in the Curia, and many important people, such as bishops and archbishops, are gay…
ROBERT MICKENS: Unless you spend some time inside this kind of culture, it's very hard to believe that it could be like this. One of the biggest problems in the whole hierarchical structure, the clerical structure, is this hypocritical presence of so many homosexuals, gay men, many of whom would not even classify themselves as gay men because they're so conflicted.
NARRATOR: The Benedict doctrine on homosexuality was deeply hurtful to those in the Vatican who were trying to lead celibate lives.
FATHER X: [through interpreter] I cannot understand this schizophrenic attitude of the hierarchy against gay when a lot of priests are gay. That's something that I cannot understand…
NARRATOR: As a gay priest who works in the Vatican, he remembers his feelings when the then Cardinal Ratzinger changed the Catechism to say that homosexuality was an objective disorder.
FATHER X: [through interpreter] It's like a knife in your heart because I believe in vocation. I believe in the calling of God. I believe in Jesus. I believe He want us to serve his people. And when a document say, "Oh, you are not able," that is— that is terrible. It's painful. I hope that one day, priests can be freely in a relationship, and be good priests, that celibacy in the Church will be optional.
ROBERT MICKENS: The "don't ask, don't tell" culture was invented inside the Vatican. And I don't want to villainize everybody in the Vatican because there are a lot of gay men in the Vatican who are very good people, who are celibate, are not having sex, or are struggling to be good priests, but the culture itself mitigates against that. It's difficult to be good in the Vatican.
NARRATOR: The Vatican is a world on its own, an independent state. And this is the guarded frontier that separates it from Italy, whose authorities have no powers here.
Fr. THOMAS DOYLE: The Vatican is the last absolute monarchy in the world today. The Pope, when he's elected, is answerable to no human power. He has absolute authority over the entire Roman Catholic Church, direct authority that reaches down to individual members. He is the supreme judge, the supreme legislator and the supreme executive…

The main concern is the lifelong harmful effects that is caused to children as young as 4 and 5 years of age - by the influence of these Vatican unsubstantiated antigay statements. The people - the members of the Congregation for Clergy are a threat to the lives of children and more.

The road to Auschwitz was built by hate,
but paved with indifference.
Ian Kershaw
Popular Opinion and Political Dissent in the
Third Reich, Bavaria 1933-1945
Hitler and the Uniqueness of Nazism
Ian KershawJournal of Contemporary History 2004
…Not only the street-fighters and beer-hall brawlers in the nazi movement were attracted by the idea of violently-attained national salvation. As much recent research has shown, a new generation of intelligent, middle-class students at German universities in the early 1920s soaked up völkisch ideas, those of extreme racist nationalism, intrinsic to the ideas of national regeneration. In this way, ‘national salvation’ found intellectualized form among groups which would constitute a coming élite, groups whose doctorates in law combined with a rationalized ‘Neue Sachlichkeit’ (or ‘new objectivity’) type of approach to the ‘cleansing’ of the nation: the excision of its ‘life-threatening diseases’…
That ‘national salvation’ involved not just internal regeneration, but a ‘new order’ based on the ethnic cleansing of the entire continent of Europe, also singles out National Socialism from all other forms of fascism. No small part of its uniqueness, in other words, was the combination of racial nationalism and imperialism directed not abroad, but at Europe itself…
It is not just the force in themselves of the ideas of national rebirth that Hitler came to embody, but the fact that they arose in such a highly modern state system, which was decisive for their uniquely destructive quality…
Let us return at this point to Hitler and to the implementation of the politics of national salvation after 1933. I have been suggesting that a modern state system directed by ‘charismatic authority’, based on ideas, frequently used by Hitler, of a ‘mission’ (Sendung) to bring about salvation’ (Rettung) or ‘redemption’ (Erlösung) — all, of course, terms tapping religious or quasi-religious emotions — was unique…
New élites, as has already been suggested, were only too ready to exploit the unheard of opportunities offered to them in the Führer state to build up unimaginable power accretions, free of any legal or administrative shackles. The new ‘technocrats of power’, of the type exemplified by Reinhard Heydrich, combined ideological fanaticism with cold, ruthless, depersonified efficiency and organizational skills. They could find rationality in irrationality; could turn into practical reality the goals associated with Hitler, needing no further legitimitation than recourse to the ‘wish of the Führer’. This was no ‘banality of evil’. That, in such a system, they would find countless ‘willing executioners’ prepared to do their bit, whatever the individual motivation of those involved, goes without saying…it was that the idea of racial cleansing, the core of the notion of national salvation, had become, via Hitler’s leadership position, institutionalized in all aspects of organized life in the nazi state. That was decisive…

A life in writing: Ian Kershaw - 17 August 2011
..How did he make the switch to the Nazis? "It wasn't a road to Damascus," he says, "but it was relatively sudden. I started learning German with a view to studying the history of peasant revolts in later medieval Europe, but as my German improved I became very interested in what was happening in Germany – it was just after the 1968 student revolutions, there was a lot happening and the Nazi period wasn't that far away – and how it was coping with the legacy of the war.
He spent the summer of 1972 on a Goethe Institute scholarship in Munich, and had a chilling encounter with an ex-Nazi that hardened his growing belief that he should abandon his plan to study medieval peasants and concentrate on his own time. "I met this fellow, and he asked me what I was doing there. He said: 'You English, you were so stupid, you should have been in the war with us. We'd have defeated the Bolsheviks and divided the world up between us.' And he said at one point: 'The Jew is a louse.' I was completely shocked by this, and it made me wonder what went on in this little place at that time. That was the trigger, but I was already on the way.”..

Overcome indifference and win peace: 2016 Peace Day Message - Pope Francis - Dec 15, 2015
...Kinds of indifference
3. Clearly, indifference is not something new; every period of history has known people who close their hearts to the needs of others, who close their eyes to what is happening around them, who turn aside to avoid encountering other people's problems. But in our day, indifference has ceased to be a purely personal matter and has taken on broader dimensions, producing a certain “globalization of indifference”.
The first kind of indifference in human society is indifference to God, which then leads to indifference to one’s neighbour and to the environment. This is one of the grave consequences of a false humanism and practical materialism allied to relativism and nihilism. We have come to to think that we are the source and creator of ourselves, our lives and society. We feel self-sufficient, prepared not only to find a substitute for God but to do completely without him. As a consequence, we feel that we owe nothing to anyone but ourselves, and we claim only rights…
In other cases, indifference shows itself in lack of concern for what is happening around us, especially if it does not touch us directly. Some people prefer not to ask questions or seek answers; they lead lives of comfort, deaf to the cry of those who suffer. Almost imperceptibly, we grow incapable of feeling compassion for others and for their problems; we have no interest in caring for them, as if their troubles were their own responsibility, and none of our business.[9] “When we are healthy and comfortable, we forget about others (something God the Father never does): we are unconcerned with their problems, their sufferings and the injustices they endure... Our heart grows cold. As long as I am relatively healthy and comfortable, I don’t think about those less well off.”[10] …

God Forbid - We Are Proactive Protecting Children
God forbid that we should do something that is courageously proactive in way of the protection and well-being of children!!! God forbid that for once we should error in the way of charity - instead of - in the way of negligence, especially regarding children. What would the news media be like “The Catholic Church foolishly renounced all the Vatican’s teachings on homosexuality for the safety and well-being of all children globally.” The real damage to the Church - were the decades of the bishops’ child sexual abuse cover-ups, orchestrated by members of the curia. Children were not protected. WE need not continue to follow this pattern of negligence in caring for children. Where we go once the Vatican’s teachings on homosexuality are renounced - I really do not know. I only know that our first, foremost - priority is to make sure that the lives of all children are safe. To find out what we do next - I would have followed a process that is exactly what Pope Francis has been doing. I would seek advice and input from everyone. Photo

“EMPATHY is about standing in someone else's shoes, feeling with his or her heart, seeing with his or her eyes…” - - POPE FRANCIS - - - pops out for new shoes - December 21, 2016

POPE SPOTTED POPPING OUT FOR NEW SHOES - 21/12/2016
I'm incredibly proud of you': praise after pope pops out for new shoes - December 21, 2016
Pope Francis was the toast of social media after successfully completing his latest groundbreaking mission: popping out of the Vatican to buy himself some new footwear.
The 80-year-old pontiff visited a pharmacy near the Holy See on Tuesday to pick up a pair of the orthopaedic shoes he wears to reduce the pain caused by chronic sciatica.
The visit was filmed and snapped on smartphones by a handful of customers who were in the shop at the time. Francis posed for pictures and blessed a crucifix belonging to one of the shop’s staff…

A frugal pope buys his own shoes - December 21, 2016
ROME -- As cardinal archbishop of Buenos Aires, he took the subway. Then as pope, he went out to buy his own eyeglasses. And now he picked up a pair of shoes.
Pope Francis caused a sensation after he left the Vatican late Tuesday (Dec. 20) and showed up in a pharmacy in the heart of Rome…
“A pope who goes to buy himself a pair of orthopedic shoes is like any citizen. A man among the people!” tweeted another fan.
Since his election in 2013 the former Jorge Bergoglio has made a point of leading a simple life, shunning the opulent papal apartments for a modest room in his residence, carrying his own briefcase and traveling in a simple Ford Fiesta.

Kids Are Being Hurt!!!
“Someday, maybe, there will exist a well-informed,
well considered and yet fervent public conviction that
the most deadly of all
possible sins
is the mutilation of
a child’s spirit.”
…whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. Matthew 18:6
Important note: No disrespect meant to Pope Benedict XVI or the hierarchy, the one and only concern is the safety and well-being of children.
