It has always been puzzling why Benedict XVI always manages to make major public statements against “gay civil rights”, “gay equality” or “gay marriage” before major Christian holidays, like Christmas 2008, his trip to Portugal, and his latest to Britain. Why? Benedict XVI public statements against gays have been constant and consistent, as regular as breathing and a heart beating. It appears to be the complex defense mechanism – reaction formation – (simply put is displaying the opposite feeling felt to defend against anxiety) and the dissociative process of a closeted gay male (Dissociative Processes - Harry Stack Sullivan “Clinical Studies on Psychiatry”). Without knowing it Benedict XVI has brought together and united globally more religious leaders, clergy, ministers, faith groups, leaders of governments, politicians, scientists, medical and mental health associations, organizations and professionals, LGBTQ&I groups, organizations, individuals and allies for one common cause - that we together bring out all that is true and good and loving about the diversity of human sexuality, such as sexual orientation, gender identity and intersex, the uniqueness and an importance of each and every individual, including supporting gay marriage.

The following statements are harsh statements, but unfortunately they are heavily documented. (1) Benedict XVI and his hierarchy failed to protect children from child sexual abuse for decades. (2) They mistreated and intimidated the victims and their families who came to report the child sexual abuse, in order to cover up publicity of any child sexual abuse. (3) They failed to protect children by repeatedly reassigning the child sexual abusers to assignments where children would be present. Speaking Tuesday on the Oprah Winfrey Show, singer Ricky Martin said he's stopped pretending to be somebody else.
The thirty-eight-year-old Martin, father of twin boys Valentino and Matteo, came out gay on a blog post at this official website in March, but has not spoken publicly about his decision until now.
Martin told his host that denying his sexuality had become too burdensome.
“I couldn't take it anymore, Oprah,” he said. “It was too painful.”
