In a stunningly blunt editorial, for example, the current issue of the Jesuit magazine America argues that "direct efforts to correct and prevent abuse of minors are only the most obvious part of a larger healing needed in the church.... At all levels, right down to the parish, much of the church has proven deficient in its ability to listen and interact with adult believers.
