Spaniards protest against Pope's Visit – November 5, 2010 - PressTV

Thousands of Spaniards have demonstrated against the upcoming visit of Pope Benedict XVI to their country amid child sexual abuse scandals hounding the Catholic Church.

The massive protests on Thursday boiled over into rioting as Spanish police forces faced-off with demonstrators in the streets of Santiago de Compostela, one of Roman Catholic's holiest sites, where the pontiff is scheduled to visit on Saturday as part of his two-day tour of the country, AFP reported.

Howls of protests also rose throughout the streets of Barcelona as people chanted slogans against the Church's covering-up of the child sex abuse cases that have so far been exposed in Catholic institutions in France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and the US.

Protect children and the entire world will be safe.

Important note: No disrespect meant to Pope Benedict XVI or the hierarchy, the one and only concern is the safety and well-being of children.
